  1. Is it a "club" operation? Do they charge money to take people up? Chris Schindler www.diverdriver.com ATP/D-19012 FB #4125
  2. Actually, I didn't think it was all that bad. The guys seemed credible. It IS a sensational moment even in the skydiving world. It shows that nothing is perfect. Wouldn't it be nice if people took responsibility for their actions to participate? Didn't Javelin just get sued by someone who refused to take responsibility that skydiving is dangerous and bad stuff can happen? The comment from the person suing Javelin was "I didn't expect the hold harmless section of the waiver to stand up in court." WTF?!! Over...
  3. "Do you believe in MIRACLES!! YES!!!" -Al Michaels. It's great to play above expectations on a team no one respected. It makes it all the sweeter.
  4. Was it left in direct sun (the rig) or in a car trunk at all on hot days? Wondering if it could have cooked. Chris Schindler www.diverdriver.com ATP/D-19012 FB #4125
  5. Thank you for mentioning the aircraft accident side. I believe it is all too often overlooked. Chris Schindler www.diverdriver.com ATP/D-19012 FB #4125
  6. Yes, it's long and distinguished. .... was that a Top Gun quote? Chris Schindler www.diverdriver.com ATP/D-19012 FB #4125
  7. Sweet video. You don't know me. But I know a couple people in that video. I spent a little time out there in 97-98 / 98-99 winters. Cool to see the view.
  8. Best jump plane is the one the DZ can afford to maintain properly for the amount of traffic they run through. Chris Schindler www.diverdriver.com ATP/D-19012 FB #4125
  9. Well. They have in the past. And they continue today. I wondered if I was going to have a facility to have a wedding in Sept 2004. A Cessna twin had just been chased and the two pilots (skydivers at the facility) were nabbed for running drugs. Yah, 2004. You'd think that people would have learned by now. Tracking is much more sophisticated now. From what I heard they launched the blackhawk from cincinatti to intercept them coming in from Texas. CINCINATTI!!! They knew exactly where they were going.
  10. I believe that's possible. Was just hoping someone from Quantum Leap could comment. I've been in 3 forced landings myself. I know personally what it's like except for the crash part (I was very fortunate). All 3 times there really wasn't any other conversation other than "everyone hang on" and "get down". I can only imagine what was happening on this flight and I feel for the people. It's a horrible experience. Chris Schindler www.diverdriver.com ATP/D-19012 FB #4125
  11. Well, the way he said it it sounded like he knew something. "Everyone was panicing but (the instructor) was calm and talked in her ear." (Paraphrased) He makes a serious differentiation I just want to know why. He could have said that the instructor just acted calmly in the situation and left it at that. But he added a whole other element to the story and I would like to know why. It's not just what he said but how he said it that caught my attention. 12. "everyone was panicing". That's the first I've heard of that. What exactly was going on in the plane during the engine failure? What have people been talking about that are local to the accident? Chris Schindler www.diverdriver.com ATP/D-19012 FB #4125
  13. About friggin time. They can't bleed that stone anymore.
  14. If the planes aren't in the right position before exit then no one should climb out. It takes both planes looking at each other to make it happen. The people in the lead plane should be able to see if the trail is in the right place. The people in the trail, if they can't see the lead, should not climb out and make a determined effort to communicate to the pilot that he is not in the right place. Position should be determined and stabilized at least 2 minutes before drop. If it isn't then there needs to be a go around. The potential hazard is obvious as people have gone through props of trailing aircraft because of out of position planes. I'd like to hear more about what people saw and when they saw it and what they tried to do about it. Chris Schindler www.diverdriver.com ATP/D-19012 FB #4125
  15. What kind of planes? Chris Schindler www.diverdriver.com ATP/D-19012 FB #4125
  16. Well that is a scary statement. Chris Schindler www.diverdriver.com ATP/D-19012 FB #4125
  17. HH that's awesome!!! Congratulations man. You will love this. I've been blown away by my son. What a special gift you have right there. Chris Schindler www.diverdriver.com ATP/D-19012 FB #4125
  18. Do you have a photo of Albert? That name sounds familiar to me. Just don't know.
  19. THAT was Sangiro? Whaa whooo?? Where? Man, you guys need to keep me posted on this stuff. Dang if I can't remember what he looks like. OHHHH!!! He was the one with the goggles upside down while B^2 and I raked his face trying to pull them down. Good times. Good times. Damn near put his eye out. Sorry HH. 21. How can you maintain best rate of climb with the stall horn going on? You can't. Find out what airspeed he is supposed to maintain for that aircraft and if he can't hold it within 5 knots fire him. That is BS. Chris Schindler www.diverdriver.com ATP/D-19012 FB #4125
  22. That was over a 10 year period. Why should the list get longer? We don't make new mistakes in skydiving. We repeat the old ones with great regularity. Chris Schindler www.diverdriver.com ATP/D-19012 FB #4125
  23. Tom you are so right! Dead friends is what drives the insurance rates and requirements. They figure if the FAA won't regulate it they will. They know what their risk is. Now, does every DZ have insurance? What standard are they being held to? What required training are they getting to be DZ pilots? There is no way to tell in today's environment. In my 3,000 hours flying skydivers I've had: 5 engine failures. 3 forced landings. 1 jumper main bridle/seatbelt entanglement Fuel flow problems Carb ice Pencil whipped annuals/100 hour inspections Jumpers climb on top of my tail for the "photo op" without telling me Over 10 friends die in jump plane accidents Been owed thousands of dollars in back pay ....etc....
