  1. Steve, Are you thinking of the finger lost to the Beech at Gan? Mid-80's if you are. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  2. 1988 Seoul Opening Ceremonies...besides the Olympic Rings there were 100 or 200 other jumpers that landed in the stadium trailing streamers...very impressive...but that is as far as skydiving has gotten with the Olympics. And, that is as far as i think it will ever get. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  3. Is listed on the Movie database. http://imdb.com/title/tt0089126/ You may be able to find it on one of the internet sales places like Amazon or some of the others. Unfortunately not out on DVD yet. Sign up to be notified of the DVD release on Amazon.com...it may spur the studio to put it out. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  4. I just tried exporting a 15 sec clip from FCE in Quicktime. The resulting file was 300kb or about 1.2 mb per minute. I did the following.... File-Export-Quicktime In the "Save" window that poped up I chose: Format - Quicktime Movie Use - DSL/Cable - Medium and saved it. FCE then exported it....320x240 in size. The Save window also has an options buttone where you can play with codecs, frame rates, key frame rates, etc to your heart's content. (I have QT Pro so don't know if all the options are available if you don't have QT Pro.) -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  5. What's next has already happened in the Winter Olympics....Curling. I think the closest skydiving will ever come to being included in the games was the 1988 opening ceremonies. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  6. What is the original size of the still? My 3.3 mp Digicam shots are 2048x1536. Are the 330's similar? How does the sharpness, etc. compare to similar 3 mp still cameras? Have you had the opportunity to compare? -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  7. Andrea, It is worth it to go and see a lawyer and be sure that your will is an accordance with all state and federal laws that may apply. You do NOT want to die intestate (without a will). The disposition of your property will be done in accordance with the rules in effect in your state, will take time and may not be what you want. You have to choose an executor, and you should also name an alternate, in case your first choice cannot or will not serve. This is a very important decision. Choose someone who will stick to your wishes and will hang in there even if times are tough. It can be a very thankless and difficult job. (I speak from experience) Having a will and an executor enables the executor to take control of your assets immediately to pay bills, take care of your kids, etc. To me, it's worth the trip to the lawyer. No doubt about it. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  8. Nick, The Mets came into being in 1962 I believe....with Casey Stengel (who had been fired as Yankees manager) as the manager. His famous quote, "Can't anybody here play this game?" was inspired by the incredible ineptitude of the expansion team he was given to manage. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  9. The jumper's name was Michael Sergio, 37, a soap opera actor. He paid a $500 fine and did 100 hours of community service. Here is the sentencing order written by Justice Phyllis Flug...
  10. You know who I'd like to see...Tyson and George Foreman in their primes. I don't know of any two that hit harder. I've just seen some of George's old fights on cable and he was a better boxer than I realized. Ali-Tyson...good fight. I think Ali would have a good chance of taking him. He was so fast and smart. If he survived the early onslaught he had the endurance to go 15 with anybody. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  11. Nomar - a bad attitude? After the Sox tried to get rid of him last winter for A-Rod what would they expect? I think they moved him because they weren't going to be able to re-sign him and traded in order to get something. I don't think they are a better team after this trade. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

  13. The James Bond flick - old one - where a guy skied off a cliff and opened a round. I believe the cliff was on Baffin island. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  14. And I will vouch for the "God's Creatures" one which I saw frequently while driving down Warman Road in Saskatoon. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  15. I looked on the web page and looked at the packing instructions for the Talon II, hoping that they used the same reserve/main codes as for the Talon but they appear to have changed. I am pretty sure that it will work as the reserve going in is just slightly (7%) larger - according to PIA's pack volume charts - than a reserve that we were told would fit in the container. Also, the Maverick at 410 going into a D makes me think a 365 should fit into a C Thanks guys
  16. I am wondering if anybody can tell me if a 375 cu. in. reserve will fit in a 1988 Talon "C" reserve container? (I tried calling Sandy at RI but they are off on summer vacation) TIA -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  17. Hope that all of you continue to have a blast at the Herc Boogie. Be sure to fill Steve Enns, from Canada, with all the hot tips to share with me when he gets back. btw - Steve had 989 jumps when he left....should be close to or past a certain milestone by now Blue skies, Murray
  18. Any word on villains? Dr. Doom? -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  19. Hehe! I have also found a conventional rig with capewells and a competition PC in it and a front mount 24 foot "swinger" reserve. The main doesn't scare me...but the thought of using those capewells and that reserve sure as hell does! I was going to jump the full conventional setup but have decided that I would prefer to pack the pc into a d-bag in a student rig so that I have a 3-ring cutaway and a square reserve. I've realized my nostalgia only extends to old mains and not the rigs themselves. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  20. Or put both Neptunes and the Protrack on one jumper and see what happens...Good idea, we'll have to try it soon. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  21. I've done 2 rodeo dives with the same person on my back. She doesn't have a lot of jumps - 170 or so - but she is a good little skydiver. The first couldn't have gone smoother...exit was great, she never interfered with my flying and when she exited my back she left cleanly. The second dive the exit was fine but we were spinning for a bit due to some sort of drag or interference with a wing or something. When she left my back I did a 90 and I observed what could be a potential problem with a rider if you are having other people following you....the potential for a high velocity mid-air exists! Luckily, we had one very experienced and excellent person following and videoing so it wasn't a problem but I can see the potential for disaster. When the rider drops off, they aren't tracking at 60-70 mph and everybody else is flying towards them at high speed. If the rodeo pair does a sudden 90 degree turn like we did you suddenly cross paths with people following you. My thoughts are that the rodeo pair should wave off before exiting...either by the rider or the wingsuit closing his legs...whatever works...so that following jumpers can break off before the rider exits and minimize the chances of a midair. Makes me think that it is important to have heads up people following. I'm interested in what other peoplethink. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  22. Not interested in selling them. Just thought if you had something specific in mind I might be able to share my experiences if it was something that I had. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  23. The Going to the Sun road is one incredible drive. I remember driving it when I was about 8...43 years ago...and again in 1991, 13 years ago, 30 years between trips. The road had been repaved but everything else was the same...small little rock blocks at the edge of the road, narrow, incredible drop-offs. If you are driving...pay attention! If you are a passenger, keep the driver in the corner of your eye . There were lots of mountain goats at the visitor's centre. They are very tame. If you are going to camp in the backcountry you are going into bear country and that deserves your full attention and respect. I know there have been fatal bear attacks in either Glacier Nat'l Park or Waterton National Park (Canadian Nat'l Park that borders Glacier) in the last few years. It's a beautiful , beautiful drive. Enjoy! -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  24. Here's my Neptune/Protrack comparisons... Jump 2221 (Solo Wingsuit) - Protrack Average speed - 63 mph Freefall - 60 secs Exit alt - 9100 Depl. Alt. - 3300 - Neptune: Average speed - 69 mph Freefall - 59 Secs Exit alt - 9200 Depl Alt - 3100 Pretty close but it says my fall rate at 6k was 91 mph. The Protrack graph says my fall rate at 6k was - 62.2 mph (TAS) Everything else is pretty close but the speed at 6k seems out to lunch on the Neptune. Jump 2222 - 2 way Flock - Protrack Average Speed - 91 mph Freefall - 51 sec Exit Alt. - 9500 Depl Alt - 3200 6k Speed - 91 mph - Neptune Average Speed - 89 mph Freefall - 49 secs Exit Alt. - 9600 Depl Alt - 3100 6k Speed - 109 mph Jump 2223 - 2 way Wingsuit - Protrack Average Speed - 96 Freefall - 61 Exit Alt. - 11200 Depl Alt - 3300 6k Speed - 99 mph - Neptune Average Speed - 96 mph Freefall - 55 secs Exit Alt. - 11300 Depl Alt - 3500 6k Speed - 93 Average Speed - Protrack is lower, higher, the same Freefall - Protrack is higher on all three Exit Alt - Protrack is lower on all three Depl Alt - Protrack is higher, higher, lower 6 K speed - Protrack is lower, lower, higher. Interesting...but I don't see a real pattern with anything except freefall time and exit altitude. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  25. I will ask my buddy if he has downloaded his Neptune to Paralog and will download my Protrack info to Jump track and see if that sheds any light. Thanks for the suggestion Ray. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
