    Go Flames!

Because only one team has blown a 3-2 lead in 33 years? (Avalanche came back to beat the Devils) Gonna be a wild one in Calgary! Go Flames! -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  2. IAD off the step of a 182 is about as fast a deployment as you can get. I've tried 2 Mr. Bill's with one being successful. The unsuccessful one had a delay of about a second more but there was no way I could hang on. It made a big difference. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

    Go Flames!

90 minutes to Game 4 opening faceoff. The Lightning have to win this one or they are pretty much done. They will be playing like desperate men. The Flames will want to put their foot on Tampa's throat. Tune in for the carnage .... should be another good one! Go Flames! -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  4. Mark, I have a fairly modest music collection of about 7 gb. How much would it cost me to carry that around on CF media? I can't see it being an economical approach not to mention the hassle of changing cards, etc. I have an older 20gb iPod...I have all my music on it, my wife's music and dozens of hours of kids' music. It is a wonderful device to bring along on a road trip...no CDs and we have all our tunes with us. Plus. it's so easy to use even my wife uses it and she is a complete techno-hater. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  5. Waaay Baaaaack .... Saturday Night Live's claymation featurette "Mr. Bill" featured Sluggo doing all sorts of mean and cruel things to Mr. Bill. The term just got co-opted in the 80's. It would be typical of Sluggo to toss Mr. Bill from a great height...with Mr. Bill crying "oooh n-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o" as he plummeted earthward. Curley Roe used to issue Mr. Bill PiggyBack awards to people who did Mr. Bill jumps. I am MBPB 75. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  6. You can transfer mp3 files obtained from anywhere, AAC files bought from iTunes store, AIF files from CDs (native file format for CDs - large files) and you can rip CDs. iTunes is a great program, the same for Windows as Mac. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  7. To sync music I think iTunes is necessary. As an external hard drive you can drag and drop. You can't (out of the box) transfer your music to another computer but there are lots of hacks for the Mac so I would expect the same for the Windows world. They are great devices. Enjoy whatever model you choose. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

  9. Windows users have to buy a USB 2 cable to use the 15gb model so the difference is a bit greater if you get them similarly decked out. personally, I would go for the 40gb model...you just can't have enough portable hard drive. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  10. I think if you take a look at what is included with each model (cables, carrying cases, etc) you'll find the mini comes somewhat better equipped. I'm just listening to my 2nd Gen 20gb iPod...I find the extra disk space is very helpful for backing up video, photos, etc, etc. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

Game 3 .... Good game, Good Outcome.... 3-0 Flames! Iginla had a Gordie Howe Hat Trick: A Goal, Assist and a Fight. Should be some new material on the FlamesGirls website after this one! Go Flames!

Hear hear! No matter who wins we're going to see some exciting hockey in this series. Let us all now raise a drink to the absence of the New Jersey Devils and their boring style of hockey from this Cup final.

    Go Flames!

Iginla should have been checked after he shot. No doubt about it. Tonight's game should be awesome...the Lightning are going to come out strong and desperate to avoid an 0-2 hole. So, we shall see if the Flames can take two on the road..again. I won't be at all surprised if they do. They are playing with heart, desire and poise. Three 100 point clubs down....1 more to go! -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

Stanley Cup Finals start tonight. Go Flames! and go FlamesGirls! -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  17. Just curious...what sort of malfunction rate did the dactyls have? If people were using them as reserves as well as mains it makes me think they had to have fewer mals than ParaCommanders. Is this guess borne out by experience? -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  18. And you are...what???? -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  19. I wouldn't bet against the Flames right now...they've won three series I thought they'd lose. Iginla..best player in the league according to Grapes (Don Cherry), Conroy playing great, Gelinas on a streak, Warrener has been to two finals before, Regehr just named to Canada's World Cup Team...AND>>>>the best goalie left in the playoffs, Kiprusoff. I think Kipper is better than either Khabibulin or Esche. Playing with discipline, grit and desire..The Flames really have a chance to take it all this year. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  20. Sure wish I could head off to Kamloops this weekend. It would be great to learn from you Chuck. Have a great time out there. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  21. Thanks for that information....I'll have to try it out..up high. See the attached...yes, it has the slider as well as the strap. The strap stayed very close to the canopy as you can see from the photo. I didn't experience any inclination of the nose to fold under. Did this mod help in other ways? The pack job is as you describe it. I stowed the excess loose steering lines in rubber bands near the cascades on the steering lines. I also stowed the strap in a rubber band that was attached to the front keel line. The strap didn't move downwards very far from there. I was pretty nervous under this canopy and paying very close attention to my rate of descent. I wanted to be sure it would land me safely or I would have chopped it. Thank-you very much for all of this information. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  22. Thank you for the information on stalling the Dactyl. What would be the difference between a dynamic stall and a stall and how you get out of either one? Also, regarding the strap....if it hasn't been hotknifed should it stay up near the canopy or come down the lines? -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  23. Quade posted the bit rate a long time ago and 400 is more than fast enough.....a hard drive will only write, what 8-10 mb sec to disk so 800 mb/sec would give it way more than it could handle. I'm with you, I don't see the need as long as hard drives seem to be the limiting factor when transferring data. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  24. Here's a photo that was posted to an earlier thread.... -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
  25. No..I didn't. The only club member who had ever jumped one told me that stalling it was _very_ interesting so I didn't bother. I'll play with it more when I get to jump it on a calm day. I was getting blown backwards and just held into the wind for the entire descent....demonstrating how lazy and lackadaisacal I have become with regards to spotting. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
