Check out some of Rod's work with Jeff Beck Group on Truth and Beck-Ola, which were Rod's introduction to North America. Jeff Beck is one of my favourite guitarists. His first three solo albums were all great: The Rod Stewart Album, Gasoline Alley and Every Picture Tells a Story Shortly thereafter, he went disco and Hollywood (Do Ya Think I'm Sexy) and became a crooner -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

Our national embarrassment, Carolyn Parrish, was at it again, stomping on a GWB doll for the Canadian satire program This Hour Has 22 Minutes. A video grab made the front page of the National Post. Here's the story: Thankfully, Prime Minister Paul Martin found enough brain cells and spine to kick her out of the Liberal Party for her latest round of Bush and American bashing. She'll be pals with Babs and all the other Americans leaving the U.S. to escape Bush and enjoy our high tax rates and long waiting lists for medical procedures. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

The DZ.com Classifieds Positive Feedback Thread
murrays replied to murrays's topic in Gear and Rigging
I just did a transaction with someone who advertised in the dz.com classifieds and would like to let everybody know that it went great, eBay style, so that others looking at doing business with the same person can approach the transaction with a little more comfort. Positive feedback only please. -
I felt that way for A long time. I used Linux for years, & I eventually had enough of it and bought a mac. That's a whole other thread... My vote is for Safari. Very Similiar to Firefox in it's operations. I have been using the Mac Firefox in addition to Safari and have to say that I quite like it. Just having tabbed browsing is worth the switch from IE for Windows users...nevermind the other good reasons to dump IE. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

I have used a number of methods..... Once, I had a reserve shipped to the manufacturer for inspection. The seller and I advised them the inspection was prior to a sale being completed. The manufacturer advised me the reserve was fine, I Paypal'd the money. The seller told the manufacturer it was ok to send me the reserve. Everybody happy! Another time I bought a harness container from a well-known Florida cameraman. I just sent him the money. he sent me the rig. Long timers in the sport aren't going to ruin their reputations....Trust. Another time, I bought a main from someone I didn't know. I had them contact a old friend who is a well known DZO to vouch for me and they sent me the main without receiving any funds. I sent them the money...being a long timer in the sport I'm not going to ruin my reputation for a few hundred bucks...everybody happy. I just sold a main to a person I didn't know. She gave me a reference that I knew, I called the reference and sent off my main before receiving payment. I haven't received all the payment yet but I am not worried in the least given the reference I received and the good communications we have had discussing shipping, addresses, etc, etc. Almost all skydivers are honest and won't rip you off. If you can get good references through mutual acquaintances or DZOs you are probably ok. That being said, you have to be careful. Using a third party such as a DZO or rigger is a good way to proceed if you aren't comfortable. (It has been suggested to Sangiro that he set up a Feedback feature similar to eBay's to help people out with their on-line purchases/sales. It is something he may do in the future.) Good luck! -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

Disaffected Americans look north to 'better government'
murrays replied to PhillyKev's topic in Speakers Corner
Please don't let these fruitcakes leave the U.S. It's hard enough being a GWB fan up here in the Great White North as it is. I got a chuckle out of the comment in the article that Canada is for "personal freedoms"....Nothing could be further from the truth. The successive Liberal governments have eroded our personal freedoms considerably and continue to do so. There isn't anything that they don't want to tax or regulate. I really don't like the path my country is going down. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey -

Carl Boenish's El Cap footage from the beginnings of BASE was awesome. You can get it on PAL VHS tapes from http://www.skydivingvideos.de/. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

Select the photo you wish to e-mail by clicking on it. Click on File...Export In the resulting window you can select "Scale Images no Larger Than" and set the size of the photo. Export the photo, drag into an e-mail and send. The recipient should be able to take any size of photo and shrink it to what is required on the ID card...or I think they should be able to. Perhaps ask them what size photo they need...in pixels as that is what iPhoto uses. Also ask them if they cancrop a larger image. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

Any E6 (Ektachrome) processed film can be done locally or even in your own home if you want to get the kits and equipment. My favourite slide film for skydiving shots was Fuji Velvia. ASA 50. Well, the Sox _should_ win now that they are up 3 - zip. They will not let up. From last years ALCS, they know how lousy it feels to be close and then lose and from this year's ALCS they know that it ain't over until you've won 4. They are a good combination of loose and determined. Pedro was great after the first 2 innings. He very nearly let the Cards back in to the game in the 1st and 2nd but the Cards ran themselves out of both innings without a run. They look snakebit right now. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

Adrenaline Rush IMAX, the DVD. Released on 10/26/2004
murrays replied to ypelchat's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Your iMac drive also has DVD Region limitations. You can change it but you are limited to a given number of times you can do this. Best thing to do would be to get a copy of MacRipper, rip the DVD, and create a region free DVD by further using DVD Imager and Disk Utility. If the DVD is larger than 4.7 gb, DVD2OneX isn't free but does a good job of compressing DVDs larger than 4.7 gb so that they fit on one disc. Or, you can just create a disc image on your hard drive after ripping that will mount and can be played using DVD Player as well if you don't want to burn a DVD. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey -

hey Tuna...I just finished that plate of crow off I cooked up for you. It smelled so good I had to have it myself. It was delicious. Get you some next time. If you want some great crow recipes here you go. Good game. It is a mystery.....2 runs and the crowd is back into it. Pedro on 2 days rest???? He was getting the fastball up to to mid-90's by the end of the inning but even so Cairo put some good wood on his fly ball out to Nixon. I thought Lowe should have gone until he needed help...he had a 1-hitter going. Oh well...we'll see how this turns out. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

Not yet Jen...remember the Yankees scored 19 runs not so long ago! But what a great night for Damon to get some hits...grand slam aside, just having him on base means more fastballs for the hitters following him. THE YANKEES LOSE! THE YANKEES LOSE! THE YANKEES LOSE! Game 7 Tomorrow! And to think I was only an inning away from predicting a NY Sweep. Glad I was wrong. As Yogi Berra said...It ain't over till it's over. There's no such thing as a sure thing. You have to play the game....and anything can happen. I can see them saving Roger for a Game 7. Pitching him on fuil rest makes a lot of sense as he is a much better pitcher on 4 days rest and he can likely go deeper into the game. It also has the advantage of having him ready for Game 1 of the Series if the Astros could win Game 6 without him on the mound. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

A 1 hitter and a 3 hitter...dynamite game! I like the Astros chances a lot with Clemens pitching in Game 6.
