We had this guy named Karl at our little DZ in the very early 80s. He was sort of a body builder and used acid a bunch. Guys used to manifest on loads with Karl just to watch him in the plane. It was...."wow , look at the colors ; or do I really have 12 fingers" ,shit like that. We knew for sure that he was gonna frappe but nobody did anything. Anyway he didnt....just went away one day after making 100 jumps or so. He sure was fun to watch though. bozo Pain is fleeting. Glory lasts forever. Chicks dig scars.

Thats was the Beech from the old Yolo Dz. The event was one of the Frans Star Ranch Whorehouse boogies. The plane , as I remember did a ground loop on landing. Nobody was killed but as you can see destroyed the plane. I'm sure someone will check in with the year because those days are all a blur for me....but goddamn was that a hellacious boogie. The last one I went to had Van Prays Otter from Cal City....forget that year too. I was doing tandems for the whores....they tip good. bozo Pain is fleeting. Glory lasts forever. Chicks dig scars.

Ive got two drains in the incisions in my back and a permanent IV in my right bicep called a PICC , makes moving around a pain. Try skydiving ? Done that , people says thats how I got in this condition but thats not true. It had nothing to do with skydiving , it was that darn landing part.

One last post on the ANS stimulator. It worked well....kept my pain at half levels...then the staph infection set in. Just today I got home from five days in intensive care. Had an emergency to remove the implant. Needless to stay, I almost died. No one wants to talk about where the fault lies.....was the implant dirty or was it the hospital. The Dr says we can reinstall the ANS in 3 or 4 months , yeah right....in a pigs ass we will. bozo Pain is fleeting. Glory lasts forever. Chicks dig scars.

Just an update for anyone ho might have some interest in this stimulator , down the road someday. \ I had the surgery Wed. and all went well , the electronic leads are placed above T-12 in my thoracic vertebrae. The power unit, oddly enough looks like a small CYPRES and its installed in my left buttock just below the beltline , so for anyone that ever heard me condemn CYPRES in the past....I have a permanent one in my ass. The unit is very cool and it works well although i'm not getting much relief as yet do to the extensive surgery that was involved. Im afraid ths wont get me back in the air but it will give me back a semblance of the life I had . For all of you that offered advice and well wishes , thank you so much , i'll keep ya posted. Todak....I think I might just send you that Fat Elvis suit.

Ok David.....only a friend would recognize my attributes. I am scheduled for another surgery 18 March with a bigtime neurosurgeon who is quite confident that the procedure will work.....in his words....."just cut out a little bone here ,a little bone there....easy". My last assignment ,while in the Navy, during the Vietnam war was Graves Registration. The folks who recover the casualties and process them all the way home. My personal hell was the morgue at Balboa Hospital in San Diego. I have read the reviews on this story and want to see it but i'm afraid its all still too close to home. I was there and watched it happen. I worked for Nevada Dept of Transportation at the time. They sent my crew to shut down the hiway leading into Henderson while the gasline was burning in case of a "gas" explosion. No one told us that the AP could or would explode. When it did...me and two other guys were standing on the opposite side of our truck from the site. We were two miles away when the first boom went off. We thought the world had come to an end. The initial bast scared the shit out of us as we hunkered down behind our 1 ton Chevy.....the big blast blew the windshield in on the truck..AT 2 MILES AWAY ! We were peppered with sand but unhurt. At our roadblock people coming from the area of the blast , the paint was gone off the side of their cars and trucks, windows were gone and almost all of them had cuts , abrasions and bruises from the windows blowing in on them.
