  1. Do you think the steering lines may have had a lot of twists in them? Do you check them/untwist them regularly? Just wondering, as I suspect a lot of tension knots are due to this, just my unsubstantiated theory. Mals are a rush, eh? Nice job. People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am
  2. We don't agree on much......but it really makes me think that the ref that was caught/admitted to influencing games a while back...well, maybe it didn't stop at him. The refs handed it to them. Boston really screwed up in a lot of ways, but damn, the hacking and smacking that went on with no fouls on the Lakers was amazing. On the side of the refs though, there should be at least 2 more of them. One permanently stationed at the end/past the basket to get a decent look at all the shit that goes on down there. The guys in stripes are expected to see things that they just can't see from where they are. I think there is enough money in basketball for them to have a couple more refs and stop it from being so like hockey. They should also be called for palming/double dribbling, and traveling a lot more than they do. People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am
  3. It was ridiculous. The refs should have been calling fouls every 10 seconds (that might have encouraged them to actually stop fouling). It was a non-stop foul-fest. Instead they choose to "let them play", and call fouls when they feel like it - which is when it benefits the Lakers. I really do hate basketball, I just wanted to see LA lose. People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am
  4. The whole "let them play" thing is really bullshit. They smash each other around constantly. The officials could be calling a foul on every possession, and they should in order to get it under control. But then the game is nothing but foul shots, and that is really boring. Maybe they should let them have grudge match boxing at half time. This reminds me of why I dislike basketball generally. I just want to see the Lakers lose, and Jack Nicholson go away disappointed. At least in hockey they are supposed to hit each other. People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. 5. OK, so to the point of arming altitude differences. A vigil arms itself considerably lower than a cypres. For the scenario of someone getting out below 1400 and not pulling, the Vigil will save you. That scenario clearly goes to Vigil. Not a very significant scenario though. I don't want to bash the Vigil. It is just that their product deserves it. I hope they improve, I want there to be good competition. 6. And, IMO, it is a bad design if it can fire due to only the door opening. And if it saves you from a low chop or low bailout then it's a brilliant design that saved your ass. As the document says there are tradeoffs, The vigil claims to have some advantage in acting (detecting freefall) faster. I think it is marketing hype or worse - a characteristic that has proven to be dangerous with no advantage. As others have said in this thread, AADs don't pause once they've detected their firing criteria. Please explain to us how the Vigil acts in a way that is an advantage, and I have yet to have it explained how it would behave any differently than a cypres in a low cutaway scenario. The claim is there, but it doesn't seem to stand up to scrutiny. The folks that designed the Vigil had a clear target to beat. They didn't even match their competitor in such an important characteristic as being able to recognize when the data is inconsistent with skydiver physics. It isn't a matter of "detuning" it. It is a matter of making it smarter. I really do wish there was better competition out there to drive down prices and push the quality up. 7. I want to see that classic, please post a pic. I had a slightly older NLII People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am
  8. I had sympathy for their cause, but no support for their tactics. The point was that England was able to let go another part of their empire without having to fear that the future relations with that neighbor would continue in a state of war. 9. Donuts are fairly challenging, some will avoid them, but are actually a great thing to practice, back and forth - Left donut, star, R donut, again and again. If you can do that proficiently, then many other formations will come more easily than if you avoid the donut. Just make sure everyone is thinking about how to do it the same, correct way. Donut...Hmmm....(/Homer voice) People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. 10. SHAME ON YOU!!!!!! Yes, you should think "forward" because donuts have a tendancy to backup a bit (due to the fact that, if you do a proper center turn, your visual should be of you going forward a bit since your head will move in reference to the formation center, and the natural tendency of people is to keep the same visual, hence a shoulder turn), but for Pete's sake, you do not fly forward TO YOUR grip! Sorry, had to give you a ribbin'!
  11. In a donut, you are responsible to orient yourself to the person that was straight across from you (before you went to turn the donut). You should be opposite in position from them, but taking up the same space (at least the same space as they should be taking up). Keep your focus on that person across from you-keeping your position correct relative to them, and your grips should present themselves (the leg will be up against your hand) and be in your peripheral vision. If you turn focusing on getting your grip, you are more likely to over/under turn, or slide forward/backward. If you do it right, you may still kick someone in the face, but it won't be your fault. Much of doing RW well has to do with knowing where to focus on to judge where you should be. It often is not what you might have first thought. 12. I think that the real thing to learn from the IRA conflict was that their goals were actually pretty reasonable. When those reasonable demands were met, they were able to live in peace. In contrast, the demands of the palenstinians (their real/true demands - not just the return of some land, it is much more than that) are not reasonable. Big difference. 13. I don't think that is true. The yellow coating is something different, but Racers have a red teflon coating (with some debate about the possibility of it being able to crack/stay on the cable), isn't that right? People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am
  14. It can be very deceiving how close the camera might appear to be "in his face". You just keep trying to make excuses for him, even when the guy himself isn't trying to - why? People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am
  15. Gawd I hat ethose things! WHY the fuck do people blow them at games! those and airhorns...Especially when my son is racing, Idiotss set up in corners ,and blow the horn as a racer goes by....it has caused more than one crash! If you think unmuffled bikes should be allowed, then why should another person's preferred way of making noise be a problem? If a person wants to drive around with an air horn constantly blasting, shouldn't that be OK? 16. That's full of shit. Nobody's giving this guy a pass. Any random twit can take a cheap shot at "libs". What a childish game. People need to grow up. Sure they are (giving him a pass). I understand that you don't want to recognize it for that. Libs don't even want to acknowledge the possibility that the kids did nothing wrong. Even after Etheridge apoligized, the focus of liberal thought is still on what the kids must have done wrong to incite the incident, even though Etheridge himself hasn't accused them of anything of the sort. Yes, people need to grow up. People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. 17. Ambush journalistic interviewing is very common. Why do you pretend that it is not? Etheridge is not a "random stranger". He is an elected congressman Why does it matter if the kids expected a confrontation? That is part of ambush journalism interviews, and it is expected that the confrontation be verbal only. It gets people when they aren't prepared, off of their controlled environment. 60 minutes, Michael Moore, and many others of all political persuasions use it. Etheridge is lucky he didn't get his ass kicked. I would likely have warned him that he had a couple seconds to let go before I would defend myself with overwhelming force. Of course it isn't really wise for a journalist to do that, but it sure would have been great to at least have the kids warn him they would retaliate. 18. Because... This thread started with a post about an activation in an aircraft. The AAD "knew" it was above the ground... When the pressure changed, it thought a skydiver was in freefall and needed to fire. I do not understand your answer, please restate what you're trying to say. Other AADs have the ability to prevent such misfires. Please explain again why the design of the vigil should not be expected to do the same. I don't understand your point. People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am
  19. Precisely because if you don't know who the "kids" are, then it leaves their motives in question. If the kids came forward, said they were for instance, students from GWU, taking journo 101 with Professor Jernofski and we could confirm that, then we'd know for a fact it wasn't a set up. The question you have to ask yourself at 7:15 pm eastern time tonight is why we don't know who the kids are? There's no compelling reason for them to stay in the shadows if it wasn't a set up. It matters not what their motives were. Not one little bit. Just like it doesn't matter what the motives of a 60 minutes reporter are when they ask tough questions out on the street of anyone that doesn't want to answer them. They guy is a politician and knows damn well that people have a right to and will ask him questions at any time that he might be walking around on the street. He's lucky he didn't get his ass kicked. Don't worry though, he won't face any consequences from the party of no standards. People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am
  20. Carbon footprint is a Democratic issue, so wastefulness in a mansion by a Dem is fair game. Family values and sexual conservativeness is a Republican issue, so extra-marital homo-eroticism in a rest room stall by a Repub is fair game. Your remark, however, is just a stupid cheap shot. Wrong. What would be stupid is to think that libs would not go out of their way to prove my point in this thread - libs are very eager to give Etheridge a pass, because the interviewers were rude, because the video was edited, etc. It won't matter what we see on an unedited video, libs will want to excuse it and say it doesn't matter. The party of no standards shows itself quite clearly. It would be stupid to think anything else would happen. People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am
  21. Wow, very nervous fellow! He's lucky that he didn't get put down. I suppose that it is better that he be put down through the legal system for the assault and lose his job at the next election. Of course the party with no standards will not have a problem with his conduct. People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am
  22. Why would the AAD not have the data? My understanding was that a cypres has a sampling rate that is slow until it realizes that you are on your way up in the airplane, then it will sample at the same, high rate until you return to the ground. If that is incorrect, please let me know. If that description is true, then it doesn't matter whether you're doing a wingsuit jump, a hop and pop, cut away after being under an open canopy for a long time, start falling fast due to a canopy collision, or are staying with the plane on the way down - the AAD has all the data. How it uses that data is the important part. I think Airtek has a very good idea of what the burble effects are, have taken this into account, and the fact that jumpers have been saved while falling unconscious and tumbling should make this a non-issue. 24. Let's be clear on this.... I DO think it's ok. How many civilians will those 3 Hamas members kill in the future? How many "innocent women and children" being used as shields KNOW wtf Hamas is doing and support it? If they don't support it, then why don't they do what they can to LEAVE the area? Our Predator drones in Afghanistan and Pakistan are operated from Las Vegas, Nevada. By your reasoning, Las Vegas is a legitimate military target. Maybe the civilians in Vegas should LEAVE, otherwise they are just human shields. It is a legitimate military target, Why is that even in question? Even if the location were certain to be attacked, we wouldn't put civilians around it as shields, and it wouldn't work anyway. 25. Your taxes won't increase any or anything measureable. We've been a debtor natior before we were officially a nation, Andrew Jackson dropped it almost 0, but we've been passing the debt along before we were te United States of America; quiot acting as if us payng for our predecessor's mess and passing it on to our successors was a new concept. Maybe but, one thing we do now know for sure. Drs payments under the HC bill and medicare are going to see big cuts. 3 out of 5 Hospitals will drop Medicare (because of hospital payments are to be cut as well) coverage and fewer Drs will result in what? Better cheaper HC? But hey, lets just keep blaming Bush!!! The non thinkers will believe it Not to worry, it is all part of the plan. Instead of being able to actually choose whether they can drop medicare, the hospitals and doctors will simply have that choice taken away from them. No problem you see, as long as you are all in with the government controlling every aspect of health care. Come on now, you knew that was going to be part of the deal. People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am
