New gear, did I make a good choice? (your opinion)
sundevil777 replied to quadrevium's topic in Gear and Rigging
As discussed at length in other threads, there are very good reasons to get a thorough testing of the units done periodically. The cypres maintenance is a rigorous check and testing process. The vigil maintenance, if it is requested by the owner, is not nearly so. Where do you get the idea that the cypres uses "old technology" or that it is related to the maintenance? To assert that airtec requires the maintenance in order to get money is an unjustified insult to airtec. The vigil certainly is more versatile in the ability to be set up for student/expert/swoop, and it is more adjustable for landing zone elevations. The value of that however is very limited. That is not a reflection of being "more modern". I think that showing that info has no value. The cypres and argus do self tests also, either it passes or it doesn't. An error code will be the result if any of them don't pass. Other recent threads have dealt with the comparisons in much greater detail. You think the "peace activists" were waiting for the soldiers to say, "I surrender" before they were going to stop beating on them? yes. remember no israelis died. what do you think of the israeli commander admitting he shot when he was 'approached' by someone with a knife - not stabbed or assaulted, just 'approached'. No problem with that. Would you have waited to be stabbed first? People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2010/jun/04/gaza-flotilla-activists-autopsy-results no-one attacked him - he was approached by someone with a knife (his words). he then shot him dead and was only then attacked by othersd. got that timeline in your head? Yes they did, the guy with the knife. Don't you know the meaning of the words you have provided? Do you say a soldier should not shoot when a guy with a knife is approaching? What would you have him do? People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. You think the "peace activists" were waiting for the soldiers to say, "I surrender" before they were going to stop beating on them? I think not, I think they were only going to stop after the soldiers were dead. I'm confident you'd be pleased with that result. His wingloading is going to be very appropriate. Not everyone wants a high wingloading. Plenty of people find it exciting enough at that wingloading. Plenty of people want nothing more out of a landing than for it to be easy and soft. Don't pay attention to others that might encourage you to have a smaller main. The wingloading you will have is a really good way to not get injured. Plenty of fun can be had with that canopy. You're still out of the loop. Their videotaped admissions to that desire have been made available. You're still out of the loop. Several people in this thread have commented on how it would make no sense for the martyr wannabes to have been transporting weapons to gaza. They wanted the extra propaganda points of having their cargo being without weapons. If they are succesful at breaking the blockade, then weapons will surely be included in later shipments. I never said that, and do not think that. I do not think my posts on this subject lead to that conclusion. I never said that, and do not think that. I do not think my posts on this subject lead to that conclusion. I wasn't aware of that, had not looked at your bio. My replies were based on the content of your posts, not your location. I didn't notice you asking this question earlier. Rhys has every right to believe in ridiculous conspiracy theories. I would like to think he's mostly just trolling than actually believing that bullshit, however that is likely wrong. What does that have to do with this thread? No, no, no, yes - as previously mentioned at least some have already they've admitted to that. Even for those that didn't want to be martyrs, beating on soldiers as they did should be understood to have predictable consequences. It is also my understanding that the ship's cargo was not allowed to be unloaded by Hamas. There goes the much needed humanitarian aid... Yes, you have been out of the loop and missed a lot. The soldiers were getting beat with metal pipes. Did you not watch the video? It would be good to catch up before you assail a person's character. As you said, "I doubt that's a behavior you admire in others." People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. The video now looks really different than it did before, can't tell what is going on. Looks like a 90 deg fitting is where it is coming out now, but that it is also coming up from down lower. Wouldn't it actually be quite difficult to get it through the loop, at least after the pin is in and the pull up cord removed? If the ships in the convoys are not carrying weapons, it is because they know they will be effectively searched. You see, when an inspection-blockade is actually enforced, the parties that want to get weapons in by that route know it won't work. If they stopped enforcing it, then the weapons would surely be on the ships. That is why it is not relevant that there were no weapons on that particular ship - of course there weren't. If there had been weapons, then the intended media circus of desired sympathy would not have flowed. An interesting analysis of the flotilla coverage

You know what this reminds me of? When Jesus H Bush was in power and the bible thumping nut jobs use to go around praising how he could do no wrong. It's the same with this situation. To every post just type "Americas only friend in the middle east can do no wrong." Don't argue, if it's what you believe just say it. I'm sure they could have blown those boats out of the water and odds are quite a few in the US would have said "Americas only friend in the middle east could and will do no wrong." And that's what it comes down to. Peoples beliefs vs. human rights. And this is where you question my education and my heritage and end with.... "Americas only friend in the middle east can do no wrong." You don't ever seem to address the questions brought up by others. That isn't a debate at all, just deflection, insults, bigotry, nastiness... Even by internet forum standards, you are really trolling. If you noticed I did not use Aljazerr but I find it very odd that you consider no other source valid other then a Jewish source. I think again here is me using logic No, you're most definitely not using logic. I never said it was the only valid source. It was obvious you were accepting the lies that have been offered so long and wanted to help your understanding of the truth. I offered a biased source to help you realize how so many other sources are too lazy to do fact checking when handed a supposed news story that involves Israel. It must be very frustrating that your side (I do give you credit for choosing sides instead of pretending to be neutral) has been beaten by that little country of Israel for so long. To get away from the nastiness if we may, seriously now, what do you think of Sadat's choice to pursue peace? Do you think it was a good move? The fact that despite the political unrest (including assasinations on both sides) that developed as a result, it has worked, hasn't it? Given this, shouldn't Israel be given credit for being a willing partner in peace, when it is sincerely pursued? I do not give Arafat or Hamas credit for sincerely pursuing peace. I am optimistic that it can happen in that manner as Sadat did with Egypt, are you? I have brought this point up so many times, but I don't ever remember anyone acknowledging that we need more leadership in the Arab world like Sadat. Can't a palestinian supporter bring themselves to say that? People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. Perhaps you get your news from Alja-liars, or Reuters, BBC, the guardian, etc. They have been shown to fabricate the news instead of report it, and to simply report what palestinian advocates say without checking if it is true. Try http://honestreporting.com/ I understand that it might be offensive to consider that what you think is not true, especially when it comes from a Jewish source, but you might try if you really are interested in confirming what you believe. They don't pretend to be unbiased, as compared to mainstream sources such as Reuters, BBC... The Israelis were enforcing a blockade, a quite normal thing during a war. The people on the ship were armed and obviously wanting to attack when they came down. The Israelis have the choice of giving up on the blockade, in which case they might as well surrender to their enemy (I know your side would be OK with that), or enforce the blockade. Tirades about shock troops don't contribute to your argument. Your side is the one that has declared intentions of genocide. Quite right! How long would it take to constitute exercising the right? 10 seconds, 10 minutes? It was reported yesterday that the guy was given a written version of the Miranda rights, repeated them verbally and I believe even signed them. If he's stupid enough to talk after that, then too bad. He did have the right to remain silent, and did for a while. Nobody forced him to talk. He chose to talk. Tough luck. He also had the right to have an attorney present during questioning. How should the police know he wants to exercise that right? Perhaps some period of choosing to not have an attorney present should be taken as an expression of the desire to exercise that right? Shooting unarmed civilians...? Now would these repelling super men be speaking German and using well made Luger hand guns....? Ah hell just gass the boat! I mean not like they are the master race / gods chosen people. This didn't work in South Africa and it's not going to work for the chosen ones. Eventually they will be less chosen and US aid will stop comming in and they will have to find another way to keep their first world level of living with a third world economy. Perhaps my advise should have been a little more restrained. The people on the deck were armed with weapons, so I think shooting near them would have been the first step. Perhaps the helicopters should have fired a missile into the water near the ship, and then if they didn't comply, then shoot a missile at the ship. They are at war. That kind of stuff happens when you try to bust a blockade during a war. It must be frustrating that your side has been exposed for what they really wanted to accomplish. It would have been much nicer for your side if there was no video, and if the press were more compliant in representing the story as you would prefer. I understand that your side has been accustomed to getting their side portrayed in much of the media without question, so irritating it must be for it not to have worked quite so well in this instance. I know you can be direct, please let us know what you're talking about. They are at war, and if one side is strong enough to enforce a blockade, they will do it. The Israelis were just not wise enough to realize that the ship was not what they claimed. They should have been recognized for being combatants in disguise. You've certainly chosen sides, gotta give you credit for that. Your side didn't like the result of WWII. There were a lot of changes due to that war, but your side just couldn't get over that. Too bad that losing several wars (especially when your side was stronger) has bad consequences. Your side tries to make it so that losing a war will be without pain, but hasn't quite succeeded yet. The Israelis should have boarded ready to shoot. They should not have gone down the ropes with anyone standing nearby. If the people on the deck of the ship refused to move, they should have been shot. It is called war, and it happens even in international waters. The was no surprise that the ship would be boarded.
