LOL!!! That's Phunny. The things people are scared of :) I'm with Lisa on this one... Not often and almost never big enough to matter. I live near the San Andreas fault So this is the place where it would happen. What are the dangers in Wisconsin? I don't know what the weather is like there. 1)Cuz They're cool. 2)My frined Anita makes some of the better ones Ive seen. If you buy one from her she gets to make another skydive so, that's 2 good reasons. 3) Did I mention, they're cool? Tim My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto

If I recall correctly The 98 Mirage has Tuck Tabs ( some one correct me if I'm wrong). If it has the Tuck tabs then You'll have a fine rig. It will not have internal riser covers but since Mirage riser covers have a nice tight fit already, they aren't even necessarry. Basically if it has velcor riser covers, I would continue looking for a rig. If it's tuck tabs and if fits you and will hold the right size parachutes. Get it. I have about 8 or 900 jumps on my latest Suit. Knit cuffs. It's still in extremely good condition. Personally, I really dislike velcro cuffs. I think they are very inconvenient. Sleeves stay down just fine, as you noticed when jumping in your sweatshirt. It's the Pant legs that need the velcro, and sometimes a snap to go with it. Velcro catches on stuff Knit doesn't. Velcro tends to wear the actual sleeve near your wrist when the hook is allowed to touch the material.( and it will touch the material) You can push your sleeves up on hot days and pull em down when you're ready....etc...etc Have fun choosing =8^) Tim My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... I do that all the time too However if you get off that 190 and onto the 135 and then pull the toggle down as far as you would on the 190 (sorry for the run on).... THEN you're asking for it. A hard spiral on my stiletto is down to my ear or shoulder. I can't even bring my self to pull it down more than that. The reason people induce line twists so low to the ground while trying a super small parachute for the first time is because they blindly use the same amount of toggle input. Make sense? You however... are Paul Quade, so it's not an issue (I say that out of respect not of angst) C-ya My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto

Go for it. It's fun. I have my student's do it all the time. It's matter of not being extremely radical. Turn the heck out of that thing. Pay attention to the effects of turning it. Some questions will answer themselves. Have some fun. Some times when you wonder "What happens if I do this?" It's time to just try it. (disclaimer... be reasonable when you succomb to those urges) After you do what you asked about, try turning both directions with just your rear risers. Also do some practice flaring with just rear risers. Try turning with a front riser. Have some fun, just use your good judgement. Work up to it and pay attention to what happens during toggle or riser input. Have some fun just be reasonable. Since you have the mindset to ask questions already, I believe you'll do a good job learning to fly with each parachute flight... Good luck Tim My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto

Not necessarrily but the PD143 is an awsome reserve. Take note that a Ne wPD143 would probablly withstand a high speed reserve deployment much better than a less reinforced canopy. (note I say probably) Also 7 jumps on a parachute is not a lot of jumps. PD requires that the reserve be sent back for permeability and strength testing after 40 repacks or 25 jumps, Whichever comes first. You try and put 25 jumps on a reserv Good luck My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto

Handle Touches/"practice" pulls?
hookitt replied to AggieDave's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
You have a good method.. (I know it had nothing to do with the main. I have a tendancy to go off on a tangent, so just read it and be entertained ) Yeah, I practice looking, and not looking also. I definately haven't seen my handles when I needed em.. they were just there. You're teaching yourself very well. C-ya My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto -
There are very good reasons to change the style of flying. maneaverability stability and range. It appears that your feet are close together and that you are leaning a bit forward. Your arms are back to compensate. This position is difficult to dock with. Feet together is like sitting on a rail. Legs apart is like a sitting on a stool. Spread em! and try not to lean quite so forward. Bend the arms close to 90 degrees. You still have all the surface out there but now you have even more stability and it's easier to reach for a grip. That's a good start Tim My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto

No main or very very small canopy, look at the BOC has the PC inside. The main was not in it when the PIC was taken. My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto

Handle Touches/"practice" pulls?
hookitt replied to AggieDave's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
[repl] I think that's exactly why it's "LOOK, reach, pull. It is... but I've YET to see my handles prior to using them. (cept when My head was pinned down). I NEVER teach students to look at the Main handle or at any other handle during the main deployment sequence. If you do, you're kindly asking the student to do this.... Arch-look-Reach-barrel roll-pull. When "Arch-Look-Reach-pull" was taught standard, it used to get Real Exciting at pull time. -

Here's my 6 point check. Harness: 1) right legstrap hardware 2) left legstrap hardware 3) Chest strap Handles: (in order of use) 4) Main 5) Cutaway 6) Reserve Easy to teach...easy to do. I do that before boarding the plane and while I'm on it and I have the tendency to do it several times. Prior to exiting as I walk toward the door, I touch the main handle again to verify it's there. My students do the same thing. "Make A Great Day" My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto -
keep your legs in the normal wide stance. Lean forward. Air hits your chest you back up. Also the air will tend to hit your shins that will help back you up as well. My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto
