  1. My folks understand completely. For one, they watched me grow up so They're kinda used to this sort of thing. My Mom has done 2 tandems. I got the extreme side of my personality from her I'm sure. They also have complete understanding of BASE jumping. I haven't hid any of this from them. If you can, Bring your Folks, or at least your Mom, out to the Dropzone. Let her see this social gathering. She'll get to watch people land, Watch video, Laugh. She can talk to some of the people out there and realize that were pretty decent people and that it's a nice controlled environment. (for the most part). If she gets to see what it really is, she'll still worry but she'll understand it so much better. They eventually come around but if you can show them what it's about then it's much quicker. One more thing. You MAY not want them there for your training. Since you'll be landing a parachute by yourself, it may not be the best thing to have them around. 2. Fantastic. Pull high and wring that thing out. Find the stall point, do some front and rear riser turns hard spirals Lots of test flairs. Have some fun. C-ya My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto

  4. [replyThat's one more reason to pick Laurel! The place where swooping can be surviveable! Darn it!...I'm going to have to quit swooping until I get to Laurel. My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto

    Just Curious

I weigh 155 ish. I went from a 220 to a 240. It's Definatly common to Upsize. After performing a few tight landings, it is easy to determine that square footage can be your friend. In very few circumstances is it a hinderance. My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto

  8. Ive done that too.. Mostly the jumper thinks.. "What the phuck are you doing"? so they do nothing. You explain it to them and try again... In real life, they execute the emergency procedures. My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto
  9. 1st--Toggle out Locked above and below the slider.. Very strange. Couldn't fly it straight. 2nd-- 1 1/2 line twist... Go figure 3rd-- borrowed rig.. toggle out.. flung me into line twists... (just happened to be 2 years and 2 months out of date) Another story 4th-- borrowed rig. Hard pull on a pull out. lost the handle, Gave up at 2 grand. (another good story) 5th--1 1/2 line twists 6th-- 2 line twists ------ All packed by other people... go figure. I have about 150 to 200 packed by someome else during training and while doing some AFF dives. Ive had up to 7 or 8 line twists and the parachute flew fine... give me 1 1/2 and I'm done. 13. The 150 will be fine. However the staged downsizing should not be skipped as you've read several times now. The trouble with downsizing to a 150 in one shot is this: you have yet to jump a parachute that does does what you ask it too. the 190 turns when you pull down a toggle but it doesn't respond quickly and precisely. The 150 will do what ever you ask it to, whether-or-not...that's what you meant. In other words, a sudden avoidance turn on the 190, may turn you away at a speed that's easy to deal with. That same turn on the 150 might be the same as politely asking the 150 to slam you into the ground. Make sense? A 150 is sized MUCH better for someone who weighs 125. Borrow the 170 from PD (or someone else) so you get the feel of a parachute that responds to toggle input, the moment you input. =================== Heavier people learn to fly a parachute earlier than lighter people. The student parachute actually responds a little. Lighter people get shafted. That's why downsizing slowly will be even MORE important to you even if you are conservative. Be safe
  14. Pull high, fly it around and get used to it. It turns much quicker. It's a parachute and you know how to fly one already, so just be smooth. Emphasis on pull high, fly it around and get used to it. Be cautious but not afraid that's about it. You'll be fine. My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto
  15. No it doesn't hit on anything. It's smaller than it may appear on the websight photos. My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto
  16. I have every one who leaves their rig with me pull their handles. I've even used mine in a safety review. It completly reinforces proper peel and pull techniques. I have them do it like they mean it in real time. Several users have been very surprised and have since modified their emergency procedure practice. 17. Oh I saw that video, I thought for certain you were broken. My old team mate was bent in half from an extremely low turn, there was no reason at all to have survived, let alone walk away uninjured. He was limber and somewhat stupid at the time. He didn't quite realize that impact was imminent so he didn't tense up. He was quite the "noodle looking human" during that landing. He's MUCH better at landing now. Once again.. I wish the new guy a full recovery. My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto
  18. Oh...there are so many more than the ones recognized on this thread. There's no way I could pick just one. There are so many fantastic flyers out there. Freefly can be extremely diverse. Some are better upright flyers than any one, some are just plain good at freefly video, and can do that better than any one. Some just seem to defy the laws of physics. I suppose if you don't know the laws of physics, some don't always apply. To many avenues of falling to choose just one. Peace My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Favorite Object

So far I have favorites instead of a favorite. Cliffs are amazing but difficult to find around here. Certain tower structures have a great view. A couple of B's stand out including a newly jumped and McConkey'd 250 footer. It's quite challenging. Probably not a jump i'd make regularly. So far it's hard to choose but I'll lean toward cliffs. I'm really looking forward to the xxx in xxx with MotherHucker. New Black Jack on the way My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto
  20. I am my own rigger. I no longer rig full time. I sew when I have to or sometimes for fun. I have 2 industrial sewing machines a zigzag and a double needle. I have fairly extensive harness building experience. BASE is a big part of my life right now so I am always rigging in some way. My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... 21. Capturing the actual fatality is diffent than capturing a skydive on video that subsequently resulted in a fatality. Mikes video was Incredible. When you realize something very bad is going to happen, it's very difficult to continue taping. It's no longer for fun. The video I shot will never go on a tape either. The skydive that happened prior, has been shown many times. My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto
  22. 1.4 is radical for just over 100 jumps. Go right to the S&TA and DZO. Sometimes intervention is a must. I don't like it as much as the next guy but f**K!!.. that's just not acceaptable. Think about it.... Tim My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto
