He wasn't my choice but I have to admit he is not taking the hard turn to the left I thought he would. The left is already turning on him and the media won't be far behind. The one thing I've noticed is that (some) very educated people have very little common sense. Hence the mantra.......Those you can't do, teach...... There is a bay in Alaska named Bristol, I would make a guess that is where she got the name. I don't believe a Mother would seek out to name her child after a slavery town. To even make an inference to her name is very shallow and ignorant. I am proud of my name oh and by the way it's Bristol. Yea what she said.............. And yes..........that's my wife.......... Just my two cents worth, Where I worked (I just retired) we didn't have tazers or OC, we either communicated effectively or we used physical force. It was a dual edged situtation, since we had no tasers you had to communicate well or you'd be fighting all the time. All our use of force's were reviewed by the chain of command. Aggiedave correctly pointed out somewhere earlier in the thread that sometimes you have to fight regardless. There are knuckleheads who will fight regardless of how hard you try not to for any number of reasons. Looks like the guy in this situation was high on meth and had other factors, the taser didn't do that. I wish we did have tasers, we recently had a situation where a drunk injured two officers, one eventually had to medically retire. Both these officers were experienced, in good shape and weren't guys that normally use force much. This situation was a text book example for the deployment of the taser. The fight would have been brief and minimal physical contact would had to be used. "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!"

Thanks man, Hopefully I made a difference in something I'll never see. That's what made me punch out, the things I did see, not the danger (it was kinda fun), it was the human element. I started dealing with 3rd generation families, not the good ones. The circle of crime/poverty type stuff. I could look at a kid and his situation and say that kid doesn't have a chance. That can wear on you and it did for me. Now I work for an FBO and move planes around and fuel them. Hopefully a foot in the door for a career in aviation. Heck no, I just had enough, the messed up hours, the politics, all the negative stuff when it comes to dealing with people in crisis. Going to work was no longer fun, we are becoming a nanny state and new laws started reflecting that and I wanted no part of it. I had my time in and I punched out with full benefits. I've argued or shall we say debated with many of you folks over the last few years and it has been a pleasure.
