Yes. Images in the galleries have to be skydiving related though. That's what this site is about. You can post non-skydiving photos here if you want, but they are limited in size. Oh and, you're welcome. Glad you like the new feature! Safe swoops Sangiro

Larger attachments has a much larger impact on bandwidth. There's a Photo Gallery for images. If you have larger images that you'd like to post and they're skydiving related I suggest you post them there and place a link here. If they're not skydiving related, well... them I'm not convinced I want to allow them to eat away at my bandwidth too much. It's still an option though...

Heya all, Premier Members now have the ability to upload as many images as they like to the galleries in batches. Besides the fact that you already don't have to wait for admin approval of your images you now also don't have to go through the tedious process of uploading one image at a time! How to upload images: 1) Download the iBULC client from their site and install it on your computer. It's a small client side application and has to be running in the background when you upload images: Download Windows Version Download Mac Version 2) Simply go to the the Photo Galleries, log in and click on the "Upload Photos" link. 3) Select the directory you want to upload the photos to and click on "Select Media" 4) You will get and interface that looks like this. Browse the directory on your hard drive with your photos, select as many as you want and click on "Upload Files" at the bottom of the list of files. That's it! Oh yes, another cool feature is you can preview your images by just hovering your cursor over the image name.

Heya all, A quick note about the tone in Speakers Corner. I know everyone in the US is very excited about the fact that their candidate is going to be elected or re-elected into office in a few days. Likewise everyone in the rest of the world have pretty strong opinions about this as well. As we get closer to the election and move through it I seriously urge you to keep your tone in this forum civil. There seems to be a misunderstanding that "anything goes" in here. It does not. The same rules apply as in any other forum. If you can not control yourself then you should not be posting here I've asked the moderators to make sure they apply the rules here the same as in any other forum. If over the next few weeks and months you get banned from this forum there will be no appeal to me. If you PM me and whine about how moderators are discriminating to the left or the right, (I get both all the time!) I will close down the rest of the community forums for you as well. A few things to keep in mind:You are not entitled to an explanation of why you were banned. If you try to "hide" your personal attack in what you think is clever wording - you will still get banned. Don't whine. It will almost certainly make things worse. If you register another username to circumvent a ban you will loose all your usernames, including the original.Harsh as this may sound, this will be no issue or concern to the vast majority of people here who are able to control themselves and have a good time. That small group who get out of hand all the time need to remember that access to this community is not a right, it's a privilege. I'll have no problems shutting this down for you so the rest of us can continue to have constructive discussions. This forum was not created to provide people with a place to grab at each other's throats. You are welcome to have opinionated debates and discussions, but you need to do it like adults. If you decide to play this close to the edge then do not be surprised if you step over. The choice is yours. I'm sure we can have a good time, good discissions and some good laughs in a civil manner. Is it over already? Safe swoops Sangiro

OK - I know not everyone will find this interesting but I'm sure at least Kallend and Billvon may appreciate it... I've changed the ranking of DZs to use a true Bayesian estimate based on the user reviews a DZ received. In the past the DZs were ranked by number of outgoing hits, or number of reviews or average review rating per DZ. This formula normalizes scores, that is it pulls the average review ranking for a DZ to the mean of all the reviews for all DZs if the number of reviews for the particular DZ is not well above the minimum number of reviews required to be considered for the list. In other words, if a particular DZ has only a few reviews above the minimum required reviews to be listed in the top 10, the average ranking is decreased a little if it is above the mean, or increased a little if it is below the mean in accordance with the normal distribution rule of statistics. See the formula, an example and a better explanation here. You can see the current Top 10 DZ's based on user reviews on the Dropzone Database main page and a longer list on this page.

The good news is this should be fixed now. The bad news is there is probably mail that was sent during this period that was bounced back to the sender. If you're expecting an important message and didn't get it it may make sense to check with the other party. I apologize for the inconvenience. It's unfortunately impossible to predict everything that can go wrong... Safe swoops Sangiro

Hang on, I'll take a look into this... I suspect it's the "whitelist" that helps me fight spam that's acting up. It checks every email to see if the user it is sent to exist on this domain before it lets it through. Safe swoops Sangiro

I've been spending quite a bit of time fighting scammers and spammers registering accounts on Dropzone.com. I'm watching them as they register and get rid of them...so to speak! A short while ago I received this email: HA! I like that. You can imagine my reply... Sir your account doesn't exist anymore. You are wasting your time, I will wear you out! Safe swoops Sangiro

Jumper was making their first solo in an IAF progression. The jumper was headed towards the runway and some trees at about 200 feet. The jumper did not respond to radio commands to make a slow right turn for landing. The jumper burried the left toggle

This jumper experienced line twists after opening. From reports it appears that he was fighting to undo the line twists and lost altitude awareness. He was fighting the line twists untill he impacted the ground.

New Premier Feature: Customize your Classified Ads
sangiro replied to sangiro's topic in The Bonfire
Heya all, Premier Members can choose what information they see when they browser the classified. You can change your default settings, which will apply to all categories without specific settings, and the categories below can then be individually customized: Complete Systems Containers Main Canopies Reserve Canopies AADsCustomizing a category simply means you choose which fields you would like to see when browsing the classifieds. For example: In the Main Canopies category you may choose to see the name of the manufacturer of the canopy, the type of canopy, the size, number of jumps, the price, who listed it and when the ad was posted. In Complete Systems you may choose to see the type of container, main, reserve and AAD as well as the name of the person who placed the ad. If you don't like the default Subject lines that comes with the ads and would prefer to see clean data only, you can switch those off. The choice is yours!I've made a few other changes to the Classifieds as well. For example, each ad will now be displayed in a row with an alternating colors to make it easier differentiate between them. I will continue to add cool new features to the Premier package. You can see a full list of current Premier Features here. Thanks for your support!
