  2. For my professors who spent extra time with me and took the time out of their personal lifes to give me a hand, I would often send them a xmas gifs or something after I was off their class. I dont take sides on the tipping that is a personal decision no one is asking or coercing and we dont post signs saying one way or another, some of our instructors/camera guys take them some dont. ...
  3. An English philosopher was visiting India, and was introduced to a holy man. The philosopher asked the Holy Man the nature of the world, and the old man replied, "Oh the world is a great big ball that sits on the great flat back of the Great World Turtle." The Englishman of course asked "What does the turtle stand on?" The seer replied "Why on the back of an even larger turtle of course!" Then the Englishman asked "and what does THIS turtle stand on?" The old man shook his head and sweetly smiled and said "it is no use my son, it is turtles all the way down!" ...
  4. A baby turtle was standing at the bottom of a large tree and with a deep sigh, started to climb. About an hour later, he reached a very high branch and walked along to the end. He turned and spread all four flippers and launched himself off the branch. On landing at the bottom in a pile of soft, dead leaves, he shook himself off, walked back to the bottom of the tree and with a sigh started to climb. About an hour later, he again reached the very high branch, walked along, turned, spread his flippers and flung himself off the branch. Again, he landed on the bottom, shook himself off, went to the bottom of the tree, sighed and started climbing. Watching these proceedings from the end of the branch were two little birds. Mummy bird turned to Daddy bird and said, "Don't you think it's time we told him he was adopted?" ...

  6. At my dz I see it quite often actually, both to TI's and/or camera guys, some weekends you dont get any, some weekends you walk away with $80 in tips. Usually ranges from $10-$20 and in some cases I've heard of $50 tips. This past weekend out of 15 tandems & 4 videos I walked away with $10, from a repeat customer that requested to go with me again, so I was more than happy and appreciative.
  7. if you are not rendering it yet, it will do that to avoid using the memory, so it will skip, once you decide play it out, you are better off rendering it to whatever type file you want. Avoid displaying it full screen while rendering it, cuz that will take both a good computer and a good graphics card with lots of memory, or it will start skipping both on screen and even in the rendering. Once rendered you can view it on any other player that you have. ...
  8. But to skyfest's advantage, there were a lot of people organizing SCR's, 8 -16 ways and the Skyvan kept flying hot most of the days. ...

  14. I think the issue is the distinction between trying to keep it a secret and blowing it out on public. Yes they have an oblidgation to disclose it and they do. That is done through the NTSB. Do they have an obligation to post it in here, or at the DZ or to even tell the jumpers... no. Do the jumpers have a right to know, yes... go read the NTSB reports. Do jumpers have a right to have the DZ inform them directly and keep them informed and give explanations... no. Do you have a right to check on the dz safety and see if you want to jump there, yes, Is there anything you can do if they dont provide info, yes, dont jump. The waiver is for their protection not yours and it does not hold them accountable for any disclosure of information. So should the waiver include how many injuries the instructors have an why, and how many malfunctions the system has had and why? or how many collisions and or equipment malfunctions your future cameraman has had and why? Yes you can do your part and try to find all this out, but they are in no obligation to provide this for you, if this doesn't work for you then you dont have to jump. ...
  15. what kinda helmet do you have and if none what kind of helmet are you comfortable flying with. are you targeting mostly freeflying or rw? ...
  16. so you should announce that you are looking for another job? or that you are going to party hard on thurs and therefore probably going to be feeling like crap and not to mention not 100% there the next day, or that you use DZ.com regularly while you are supposed to be working? They trust you can do you job efficiently without micromanaging you, and that you will inform them of things they definitively need to know. I trust my pilot/dz will let me know when I need to get off the plane or when the plane wont fly. The perception of what affects them can be viewed from different angles depending on which side you are on. ...
  17. Make all transactions through the DZ's, the first time I did that I felt like it was uncalled for, but It makes matters easier on both sides, and keeps people honest. ...
  18. There is a difference between keeping hush hush or trying to hide it, and just plain not announcing it for whatever reasons (i.e. lazy or not giving a damn to voice it out). As far as anybody claiming to have rights to records or knowledge of safety and maintenance of aircraft, there are none and either you trust your dz or you don't. It is a valid concern to know about how safe the dropzone is and that applies to everything that goes on there, but I don't think you hold a right to know over them, anymore than you do over your typical airline. ...
  19. yup that is the case here, specially with the Icarus packed with the brakes unstowed. Gotta say it hurts like a bitch to be slapped by the grommets on your knuckles, but its worth all those times where flying the opening is a requirement and not an option. ...

  22. Ok I have a question... The USPA rating is independent, and manufcturers cannot revoke it, but they can revoke theirs, if they do wouldn't htat be the equivalent of jumping a tandem rig you are not "qualified"/rated for? ...
  23. USPA requires 500 jumps minimun and a 100 within the last year if I am not mistaken. ...
