Is it ok to jump if I had a past back injury?
flypunk replied to pertierr's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I would advise you to talk to your doctor or a sports related dr to get good advice, It might not be what you want but better safe than sorry. Although skydiving can be low impact, I've also had friends end up with compresion fractures from when things go not as we planned, like a terminal reserve opening of a bad landing on your tailbone. So just keep the risks involved in mind. Hope you get play in the skies. ... -
Its a container for a mini rig yes its old yes probably made in the 70's I got one just like it except mine still has the original round main and reserves in mint condition. The hardware shown in there is cutaway system. 3 pin system with cones. ...

why dont you post your jump numbers?
flypunk replied to tattoojeff's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
ok this is an argument to which there are two ways of taking it.... so lets see yes there are people trying to hide their experience, for whatever reasons... and then there are some trying to hide it so that they don't loose credibility, this is generalizing, but never the less I agree with it. Then from your point of view there are people that will flame you and talk down to you because you don't have enough jumps... yes.. .but this is generalizing as well. Will it happen here yes, will it happen at the DZ as well? You compare the whole jump issue to one of your yellow belts teaching the class, and then you step in as the instructor and correct them, well that is only because he is identified as a yellow belt which everyone will distinguish and recognized and they will recognize you as the instructor. What will happen if you both showed up in plain clothes in front of a class which don't know either and have him teach and you try to correct? which one will the students take as expert advise, which one will they second guess, which one will get them smacked, before someone corrects them? When you are both identifying yourselves its easy to have a discussion and for you to correct them and minimize the damage, this is not the case if you both are not identified properly and nobody knows your skill levels. For someone with 27 jumps with an A license asking for advice it is hard to recognize what is legit advice by someone that may have actually experienced it first hand, than that coming from someone with 26 jumps, that he heard that works while sitting in the dz over beers. Yes a person with 27 jumps has plenty to learn from conversations with other jumpers less and more experience in the forums, but he has no place advising on how he performs, for example (just to use as an example not to sidetrack the thread) cameraflying or swooping or telling the other jumper that he could downsize with no problems jus cuz he has had no problems. Jump numbers are real, and although they are not enough to judge someone's ability, they are still one of the benchmarks on which we can rely for an approximate skill level judgement. All the skydiving licenses and ratings are based on jumpnumbers as well as ability to perform maneuvers and tasks. Regardless of your ability to perform these taks or maneuvers if you don't have the jumpnumbers you cant get the ratings/licenses... is this wrong as well? How many times have you (and anybody) run into this at their DZ, people looking for jumpers for large formations, how many times do they require certain number of jumps? specially if no one knows your flying skills? is this something to get offended over? no, people are just trying to keep everyone safe and if no one has knowledge of your skills, jump numbers are a good benchmark when it comes to skydiving. ... -

There are factory diver lookalike flat tops, they are south african if I am not mistaken, Marcelo at SH has one, for the oxygen, I don't think you would want it cuz you would loose the ability to open the visor. ...

Parasailing with gear and a jeep?
flypunk replied to Skailz's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
It can be done safely with the right system and the right canopy. I've seen it done several times on windy days, however they were crw dogs or canopy demo pilots. Makes good video, but you have to be nuts to do it. ... -
I've seen a couple of guys do work jumps only, but most of ours balance a good deal of fun jumps with work jumps. The ones that don't are the ones who burn out around here. ...

Thanks, for serving as a base dude, it was pretty priceless to see the look of confusion in you when there was a change in plans in the exit.... welcome to our zoo!!!! I second the motion on the racers, as I ended up getting one and Mike was very helpfull in discusing all the options, bells and whistles as well as all the mods that they can do to them in order to deliver what you want even if its not their standard. He was also very receptive and open about everybody's opinion and preferences, too bad we couldn't jump more thanks to the winds. ...

Thanks for all the info and yeah for all those anoying questions on your system. It looks like an outstanding piece of gear. ...

I have to agree on not freeflying with student gear, have patience. As far as sitflying or trying to sitfly at 34, I will say rock on, and enjoy once you have proper gear. Keep in mind that freeflying is exactly that, dont loose focus while trying to accomplish a "sitfly". Freefly is everyway to fly your body not only sittin or on your head, and the best way to get good at it is to have a good and solid RW foundation. The advice on keeping it small is the best thing I can agree on, when you have more than one person to focus on your concentration tends to drop. Keep it small, keep it simple, keep it safe. ...
-
dude you have a protrack right? how slow were you going in that sit/belly combo? ...
-
hehehe, yeah keep trying hopefully we get to do another sit/belly speed test this weekend, it would look cool on pics. Eat some more during the week, and I'll starve myself and then we might be able to pull off both of us sitting. ...

Does your DZ give FREE jumps for Tandem Referrals???
flypunk replied to Jethers203's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
We do have free tickets for referrals. Sorry dude no discount on tickets for bringing a tandem but that's only cuz we really can't go any lower than $15 jump tickets all day, every day. -
might want to check if the lens is screwed tight into your camera, not the kenko lens but the standards lens into the body of the camera. I've had mine come relativeley loose and then the shaking started. ...
