I say it can and It does, it all depends on what compromises are you willing to make for each other. No I'm not talking about quiting the sport or anything like that, just about choosing wisely on how much time you spend with each other, and realizing that skydiving can be treated like a job. Although its a big part of your life, its not mean to alienate all others who dont do the same thing. ...

Lets say worst case scenario (at least one)... you have a very bad line twist and are going straight down, you chop it, but your risers are twisted around your helmet, they lift off enough to pull the pin butt as the risers go up they snag in your head gear. Now you have a main in tow above you, your reserve container open with the pilot chute on its way out, and the bridal is attached to your main risers (skyhook) which are entangled in your stuff. Dunno might be that I have a very active imagination, and am completely off base, but it doesnt sound pleasant. ...

What chance would a complete whuffo have of surviving a jump?
flypunk replied to jont's topic in The Bonfire
The deployment would probably be ugly and by cypress,. I've seen a student land under line twist, in a turn (about a 100' radius), facing the back, not steering not doing anything, miss all the power lines, trees and houses and land in the only clear area available, no bigger than 30' in diameter without flaring, facing the wrong way and didn't even had one single scratch on him. I would say survival rate would be pretty high, unless he gets tangled in the canopy's upon deployment. ... -

dude for someone who is returning from 2.5 years of not jumping, your wingloading is high for your experience level and currency ( I am assuming that you dont have that many jumps since your return, I might be wrong). Tips for a non slammer opening on a sabre... sell it and buy a spectre. ...

Hand held camera in jumpsuit after deployment.
flypunk replied to cvfd1399's topic in Photography and Video
Please listen to the advice given by more experienced jumpers, I know that we all have an itch to do things that push the limits and are new to us, but some are more unsafe than we realize at the time. This is not a race to see who can do it the sooner, take your time, develop your skills, the oportunity will be there later on, don't be in a hurry to disregard good advice. If you take a camera and take pictures of someone at 500-1000 ft it will be blue skies and landscape only. ... -
you can do it by expanding the audio options or by using the audio mixer, which might be easier if you are not used to it. As far as for the fading of the videso use te transitions. ...

There is no way to know that your reserve will open and fully inflate in 78ft. The skyhook's one and only purpose is to extract you reserve. The rest depends on your rigger, type of reserve and a bunch of factors that you dont control. What if you have line twist, broken lines, line overs or some kind of problem at 78 ft ? ...

do some boogies, coaching - 1st jump with a coach you only pay your slot, and after that you pay both slots only, coaches are considered load organizers. early bird special - if the first load goes up before 8 am (wheels up) everyone on that load gets to jump the full day with a discount ( if tickets are reg $18 then $15) every 5 jumps you get one free - but its only good if you jump it that day. those are a couple that I can remember... ohhh yeah we just have all jumps at $15 and some special weekends at $12.00 ...

Is there an official number for Cypress fires/saves?
flypunk replied to Vertifly's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I know of at least 3 expert cypres and one student that are not in there. as far as the TI's that did the intentional backloop and then proceeded without the drougue, if there was a camera, he would've been on his head to keep up wit them. ... -
know your limits and respect them, not only to regards with winds but with weight, workload and even your students attitude or condition If you are not comfortable, don't be afraid to step aside and say no. Getting your passenger hurt or yourself is not worth it. You will sleep easier knowing that somebody was pissed off at me cuz you didn't take him/her, rather than knowing you should've known better and you could've prevented it once something goes wrong. ...

To insure that you are not implicated into a scam in any form or shape, I will gladly do the footwork and paperwork for you. In return for this all you have to do is send a check payable the bearer in the amount of US $1,000.00 for travel expenses and a ticket to the netherlands under my name with open dates. However since this is a favor and you would probably want to keep any ties informal and not raise any suspicions, please include a letter stating that the money and ticket are being sent as a freindship token. For this I will go over there and find out all the details of your winnings collect them and return with your prize money. Of course since there are taxes to be paid upon arrival please send $500,000.00 to account # 123456789 to the Consolidated Switzerland Bank. Don't worry there is no need for actual compensation, doing good is my only purpose. ...

do a rendering first like you would normaly, then collapse the full screen mode and just do a preview play, this should be fully rendered so that you can record ir with your camera hooked up. sometimes when rendering and displaying full screen at the same time, it drops frames or skips sound cuz of lack of memory. ...
