  1. Yep. Skydive Radio totally rocks. Those guys are AWESOME. They don't play poker for shit, but they do a great podcast . Doc http://www.manifestmaster.com/video
  2. 1.) Fly straight forward and land on the student area safley, but opposed to the other jumpers. ......Potential injury/death to you and others 2.) Slow 180 degree turn and land on a 30 feet band of bicycle way and grass just beside a street with some fast traffic. .......Potential injury/death to you and others 3.) Land in the cornfield which is for shure no fun at all. Potential for laughter Corn gets my vote.....been there . Doc http://www.manifestmaster.com/video
  3. Yup. That was a Rogallo wing. The Sailwing was rectangular. See attached. (I almost jumped a Sailwing once. Two of us planned to; the other guy won the toss, had to chop, and I passed on the opportunity.) HW I stand corrected. . Doc http://www.manifestmaster.com/video
  4. That photo looks suspiciously like a Barish Sailwing. Doesn't look like the double keel dactyl I remember. U sure about that? . Doc http://www.manifestmaster.com/video
  5. Here's a clicky version http://www.beam.tv/beamreels/reel_player.php?ZGszxVyWzX I'd have liked it better if they were naked. . Doc http://www.manifestmaster.com/video
  6. I sold my expired Cypress on eBay. Only got $45 for it but that's better than nothin. Didn't do the trade in thing since I decided to buy a Vigil. If you sell it on eBay, be sure to emphasize the fact that the unit is expired and cannot be used for skydiving. . Doc http://www.manifestmaster.com/video
  7. I think they literally meant that the tail was on fire.... as if the malfunction wasn't already bad enough. But otherwise, 'tail on fire' is not a skydiving slang expression meant to describe something else (like a pilot chute malf, etc) . Doc http://www.manifestmaster.com/video
  8. Are you sure its from Crosswind? I have the Crosswind DVD but there's only some brief skysurfing near the beginning and that's the tandem skysurf. I didn't hear any horns but here's the music from that track. http://manifestmaster.com/cw.mp3 . Doc http://www.manifestmaster.com/video
  9. Yep. Pete Reynolds is (was) Wally Gubblins. Leo Dickinson did the filming. . Doc http://www.manifestmaster.com/video
  10. Imagine having a windsock on top of your helmet, it will always point behind you. The windsock on the ground needs to point the same way. That method has kept me landing upwind for many moons. . Doc http://www.manifestmaster.com/video
  11. There's lots of reasons to get a license but high on the list of reasons is: to attend a boogie . Doc http://www.manifestmaster.com/video
  12. Thanks for all the replies so far. I've found the Sony GX300 on eBay for a good price but I noticed that there's no firewire port. Guess that means analog input only (RCA jacks). Yes, I'll avoid the GX315. Lots of bad feedback on that unit. Does the Panasonic have a firewire port? Keep in mind my goal: quick burning tandem videos after the dive. Thanks . 13. Isn't Adobe Premiere on a PC considered NLE? I've been doing that for years. I'm looking for something I can do on the fly so I can give tandem customers their DVD before they leave the DZ. . Doc http://www.manifestmaster.com/video
  14. I've been burning DVD's on my computer but am ready to move up to linear editing using a stand alone DVD burner (ie. connect camera to DVD burner and go). Any recommendations for best hardware to do this? Or any recommendations for features to look for in a burner? Thanks . Doc http://www.manifestmaster.com/video
  15. Thanks Howard. Is it ok with you if I post that photo on the web site? . Doc http://www.manifestmaster.com/video
  16. Does anyone know when the first issue of PARACHUTIST was published? The earliest issue I have is February 1963 and it says VOL 4 #2. So working backwards, as assumed that VOL 1 #1 would have been published in January 1960. But there's a letter from Lew Sanborn (D-1) in this month's issue of PARACHUTIST (May 2006) where he refers to the March 1958 issue. Anybody know when the first issue was published? (and does anyone have it!) http://manifestmaster.com/parachutist/ Doc http://www.manifestmaster.com/video
  17. I sought out and met a local balloonist. Then I joined his crew. (it takes a crew of several folks to launch, chase, and pack up a balloon). Most balloonists don't pay their crew. Instead they reward them with balloon rides (usually a $200 fee). So not only did I meet some great folks and have a good time (you have to party after the ballooning), I made about a dozen balloon jumps from as high as 9,000 feet. . 18. Throw them on your scanner and make a web site out of the cover photos. Like this: http://manifestmaster.com/parachutist/years.html . Doc http://www.manifestmaster.com/video
  19. I smell a troll....... . Doc http://www.manifestmaster.com/video
  20. My rigger won't accept a reserve for repack if the harness/container (not the reserve canopy) is 20 years old or older. I think this is an arbitrary decision on his part. Is this becoming a trend? Anyone else heard of this? . Doc http://www.manifestmaster.com/video
  21. If you were buying a new AAD today, what would you buy and why? (I've searched for this thread and couldn't find one - forgive me if its a repeat) . Doc http://www.manifestmaster.com/video
  22. I used a POD for my para commander in the late 70's. It was basically a bag for the canopy where the lines were stowed on the outside. Then the stowed lines were protected by another velcro closed flap. Worked well. See photo . Doc http://www.manifestmaster.com/video
  23. I just sent them a donation. The PayPal button took awhile to find. Click NEWS and scroll about 1/2 way down the page http://www.skydivingmovies.com/ver2/pafiledb.php?action=news Lets keep that great site alive!! . Doc http://www.manifestmaster.com/video
  24. BASE jumping into the cave of the swallows in Mexico has several videos on skydivingmovies.com. Just go there and search for CAVE. Awesome video footage . Doc http://www.manifestmaster.com/video
  25. Ok. I'm confused. (BTW: 'novice' for this dicussion means a person off student status but before A license) Great discussion on SKYDIVE RADIO about D license holders jumping with a 'novice' (graduated AFF or S/L but before their A license). What I heard was "One on One" is ok. One novice, one D license holder. Sounds like a fun 2-way. Cool. But then I heard you can have 2 novices and 2 D license holders and build a 4-way (I think I heard that). So you can have one D license holder plus one novice, but can you add 6 more B and C license holders to the dive and build an 8-way (legally)? Or can 19 D license holders take a novice on a 20 way (legally)? I'm not trying to be a smart-ass. I'm seriously confused about this. We occassionally take fresh AFF grads on a congratulatory 4way or 6way or so (no instructors, no coaches, but D license holders). So is this legal? I'm not asking if this is advisable, is it a good idea, is it safe.....(because it probably isn't). I'm asking is it what USPA is saying is LEGAL under the new USPA BSR's? Serious answers requested. But if you want to flame me, give me a second to put on my asbestos jumpsuit. . Doc http://www.manifestmaster.com/video
