What Quade said is right on. Also make sure you're using DEVICE CONTROL when capturing video. If you use NO DEVICE CONTROL, then SCENE DETECT is not available. . . . Doc http://www.manifestmaster.com/video

I'm also using Premiere Pro 1.5 and Ulead. I also have had bad luck with EXPORT TO DVD (same deinterlacing problem but sometimes errors too). For best results, create an AVI from the timeline (not an mpeg). Use EXPORT TIMELINE TO MOVIE and create an AVI. Then use Ulead to author your DVD from the AVI file. This should take care of your deinterlacing problems. Hope this helps. . . Doc http://www.manifestmaster.com/video

Who owns a Sidewinder-2 Camera Helmet?
docjohn replied to goobersnuftda's topic in Photography and Video
Sidewinder 2? I'd love to see it. I've worn out my original Sidewinder after 7 years. I was thinking about buying a RAWA helmet but I like the full face shield of the Sidwinder. I went to Sky Systems web page but couldn't find any info on Sidewinder 2. Where can I find info? . . . Doc http://www.manifestmaster.com/video -
those with NO, NONE, ZERO ratings....
docjohn replied to rocketdog's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Shooting tandem video helps pay for this sport and doesn't require any ratings. Although after the recent fatality (cameraman hit TM on opening), makes you wonder if one will be required someday. Food for thought. Do we need a 'tandem video' rating? . . . Doc http://www.manifestmaster.com/video -
It used to be that the SCR recipient had to buy 2 cases of beer. He/she wore the first case after being drenched by the crowd, then the 2nd case was appropriately consumed. Haven't seen that ceremony in many moons....but it was definitely fun. . . . . Doc http://www.manifestmaster.com/video

docjohn replied to pdk's topic in Canopy Relative Work
Because they're free packed.....no D bag. Mine isn't quite that ugly but there's usually fabric hanging out both sides. . . . Doc http://www.manifestmaster.com/video -
Anyone hear about the camera-man who jumps without gear?
docjohn replied to medusa's topic in Skydiving History & Trivia
Bill, its ironic to hear from you in this thread since you're one of the few (2 I think) who have INTENTIONALLY jumped without a parachute. Yeah, I still have a 16mm copy of that chuteless dive. Just had to point that out as I think the other posters missed that fact. Doc http://www.manifestmaster.com/video -
I'd be glad to add them to the web site if someone has the magazines. . . Doc http://www.manifestmaster.com/video

Chance of Main and Reserve both malfunctioning
docjohn replied to SkyDiveCoastie's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I've been reading incident reports for 30 years and can never recall reading about a bag lock on a reserve after a properly executed cutaway (ie. no entanglement, sufficient altitude, correct body position, etc). Your reserve parachute is far more reliable than your car, your jump plane, your bicycle, etc. Trust it. Don't hesitate to use it. . . Doc http://www.manifestmaster.com/video -
The Yo Mama crew dawgs have been at it again. Not a state record or anything like that but we had a fun 8-stack at Couch Freaks this weekend. If you'd like to see the video, go to: http://manifestmaster.com/video/crw8.wmv - - - Doc http://www.manifestmaster.com/video

is it possible to have A/B transitions w/o rendering?
docjohn replied to StevePhelps's topic in Photography and Video
What version of Premiere are you using? I also have a DV-500 and Premiere 6.0. All transistions require rendering. I also have Premiere Pro 1.5 on another system (no DV-500) and transistions don't require rendering to preview on that system. So is it the card or the program? You can find old episodes of RIPCORD on eBay from time to time. I've purchased 2 VHS tapes so far, each with 4 RIPCORD episodes each. Doc http://www.manifestmaster.com/video -
How long does it take your tandem customers to receive their DVD?
docjohn replied to docjohn's topic in Photography and Video
There has to be an easier way to create tandem DVDs! What I'm doing takes forever! It goes like this: 1). Capture video to PC (Adobe Premiere) 5 - 10 minutes 2). Edit video - 15 to 60 minutes (depends how fancy, titles, slo mo, etc) 3). Export timeline to AVI file - 15 minutes 4). Author DVD and create VIDEO_TS folder (using Ulead, Sonic, etc) - 15 - 30 minutes 5). Burn VIDEO_TS to DVD - 15 minutes So in other words, 1 to 2 hours per DVD. After a busy weekend (5 to 10 tandem videos), it could be 1 to 2 weeks before they're in the mail. (because also have full time job and am doing video editing in my spare time: if any). I'm very interested in how other folks do this. Doc http://www.manifestmaster.com/video -
Use AUTOMATE TO TIMELINE from a bin or a storyboard (click on the little triangle in the upper right corner of the bin or storyboard). It will send the clips to the timeline, overlap them by the number of frames you specify, insert the default transition for you, and will also crossfade the audio too if you like. Works great. PM me if you can't figure it out. Doc http://www.manifestmaster.com/video

I never use autofocus (PC105). Autofocus has hosed me on several occassions. Water droplets on the lens causes the camera to focus on the drops making everything else out of focus. Same thing happens if there's dirt on the lens and the sun shines on it. . . . Doc http://www.manifestmaster.com/video

Thanks for posting that incident. We just had a crw seminar last weekend for some crw newbies and we discussed situations like that. Its a good illustration of what not to do. I'm glad she lived and hope she recovers ok. Perhaps this will help save some lives. Doc http://www.manifestmaster.com/video

Well, depsite all the recommendations to throw the Prodigy's away, we're getting the hang of the diaper deployment. Thanks for your help. Its a really ugly pack job but the openings are sweet. We're actually doing some decent crw with them. Thanks for the packing help. Doc http://www.manifestmaster.com/video
