Video of Richard Branson doing a Lutz

FYI, that cllip came from The Wally Stuff produced by Leo Dickenson and Pete Reynolds. Haven't seen that one in a long time. Thanks for sharing. Doc http://www.manifestmaster.com/video -

Well, since no one else has answered, I'll brag. I have 14 balloon jumps. Guess that's the world record until someone else posts a higher number. Somebody call Guiness! . Doc http://www.manifestmaster.com/video

BTW - nice work on the graph. Looks like you put alot of effort into it. If you'd like to fill in some of those gaps, I have every January issue of PARACHUTIST back to the early 70's and many from the 60's. I tried to PM you but couldn't. PM me if you're interested. . Some of us are willing to pay a bit for the convenience of PayPal. But if you must, I guess you could always drive over and drop off a bag of cash. . Doc http://www.manifestmaster.com/video

That's an awesome photo. I'm glad to see that at least some of us are still flying on our bellies. Nice pic. Doc http://www.manifestmaster.com/video

Any one seen this "crazy skydive/skiing video"
docjohn replied to lundis's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
That totally rocks! So my questions are: 1). Would your average blue slope at Keystone or Breckenrige have enough angle to allow this? 2). Would a Stiletto 150 be enough canopy? 3). Is there anywhere in the US that they would allow this? (or hell with them, don't ask, just do it) 4). Is it more dangerous than it looks for an experienced skier and skydiver? 5). Anyone wanna come along? . Doc http://www.manifestmaster.com/video -
Adobe Premiere can do it . Doc http://www.manifestmaster.com/video

Got a Sony camcorder? Hook your DVD player to your camcorder via the RCA jacks then firewire it to your computer. Doc http://www.manifestmaster.com/video

That sounds like way too much for a PC-1. I bought 2 brand new PC-105's on eBay for $400 each within the past year. I jumped a PC-1 for 5 years. Its an OK camera but I would't pay more $200 for a used one. . Doc http://www.manifestmaster.com/video

Lesson learned: What can happen when you rely on GPS instead of spotting King Air load. 2 novices and 3 tandems, I was going to video one of the tandems. The novice jumpers were making solo exits before the tandems. They each were recent AFF grads with about 12 jumps each. They asked me to video them as they exited. On jump run, the green light unexpectedly came on while my helmet camera was still sitting in my lap. I quickly turned on my camera and put my helmet on while the novices were heading out the door. After watching them fall away, I decided to check the spot before climbing out to video the first tandem. I didn't see anything familiar. No airport. Looking around, I finally spotted the aiport.... about 3 miles ahead. Fortunately, the novices found nice big fields to land in and landed without incident. We found them about an hour later. The pilot admitted to making an error reading the GPS (unfamiliar plane). But, I (and the novices) should have checked the spot. I'm not an instructor or jumpmaster but I would have felt very responsible if either of them had been injured. PLEASE CHECK THE SPOT! Doc http://www.manifestmaster.com/video

Couch Freaks 2006! Labor Day weekend
docjohn replied to shellybellyfly's topic in Events & Places to Jump
Hey Martin As usual, I have a hot young lady (or 2) who'd like to make a tandem at Couch Freaks with a little clothing as possible........possibly none at all. U up for it again? -
I made about 60 solo jumps out of our club's 140 a few years ago. Just removed the door, climbed out on the wing feet facing the tail and back facing the prop. Put my right foot on the step, left hand on the wing just above the flap and rolled off keeping a low profile away from the tail. Great for single jumper demos and just jumping for grins. As I recall, to be legal, we also had to post a sign on the dash which read SEE OPERATION MANUAL FOR FLIGHT WITH DOOR REMOVED. For some reason, that made it legal. Have fun . You can download the manual for your PC-105 in pdf format here: http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/model-documents.pl?mdl=DCRPC105&LOC=3 It will show you how to send an analog signal (like VHS) to your PC105. Then firewire to your PC . Doc http://www.manifestmaster.com/video

what are you going to use once the PC´s are off the market?
docjohn replied to rhys's topic in Photography and Video
I'm still using my PC105 so I haven't kept up on the latest developements. So do the new video cameras save video to RAM rather than miniDV tape? Or to those little DVD disks? . Doc http://www.manifestmaster.com/video -
Does your DZ charge you any fees for doing video
docjohn replied to doublespock's topic in Photography and Video
We own our equipment, pay for our slot, and keep the rest. The DZ gets free advertising with every video. $85 for tandem (video/stills) $45 for AFF (video only, no editing). Mainly because AFF students are likely to be our future friends. I often film subsequent AFF jumps for just a jump ticket, or sometimes do it for free. . Doc http://www.manifestmaster.com/video -
Do you like this month's Parachutist cover photo?
docjohn replied to lewmonst's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Looks like a scene from Point Break. This photo could have been shot on the ground for all I know. It didn't do much for me. Here's the photo Peej http://manifestmaster.com/parachutist/p_2006.html . Doc http://www.manifestmaster.com/video -
DVD....... 0.44 Postage..... 1.20 +/1 mailer......... 0.40 printing cartridge. who know's 0.15 ? my time (editing)........priceless So it's around $2 or less per disk. Considering I get $85 (minus my jump), its pretty negligible. I'd pay someone $20 to edit and mail and I'd still be a happy jumper. . Doc http://www.manifestmaster.com/video
