Video recommendations...Mine -"The Believer"
EricaH replied to VanillaSkyGirl's topic in The Bonfire
I saw that also... it was good, but very dry. Really for very few people. I just have an odd obsession w/ this genra & specific type of movie. My non-practicing Jewis room mate took quite some offense to it. He didn't stick around to see the end of the movie, which justifies whatching the rest of it. The lead actor truely was amazing in his portrale of a man torn between 2 feelings. Last night, I just watched Amen, the true story of an SS officer that tried to tell the catholic church/pope about what was going on @ the "labor camps" & how the church ignored him... quite interesting; but also rather dry. Good imagery also. There is no can't. Only lack of knowledge or fear. Only you can fix your fear. PMS #227 (just like the TV show) -
I was belly to earth slowing down a track @ the time I pulled. I totally agree - I would have been just fine w/ my cypress firing, that is, it doing it's job. It would have been a bummer to lose the free bag & then to deal w/ 2 out in an area I'm not familiar with, but better than if nothing had happened. My concern was it's lack of firing. On my jump partner's video you can see him wave off @ 1500' & his protrack says he was in the saddle @ 1100'; you can see me in a perfect boxman position in his video, well below him. You do make a great point about the 1 sec. difference between firing or not, burbles & the like. Since a few months ago my cypress was given a clean check-up, I'll go w/ that I pulled just the second before it would have fired. I did check my reserve pin area & all is secure (it didn't fire & then not deploy). There is no can't. Only lack of knowledge or fear. Only you can fix your fear. PMS #227 (just like the TV show)

Thanks so much for clarifing. I was under the impression that it activated (but not fire till 750')around 1,200' - glad I was wrong. Yah, ouch but happy was the opening. There is no can't. Only lack of knowledge or fear. Only you can fix your fear. PMS #227 (just like the TV show)

Thanks for the info. Read the manual, but it didn't really say. I had a low pull this weekend (round 1100), in saddle bout 800 & it didn't fire . Just had a check-up & battery replaced in June. That was a crazy fast opening for me - ultimatly not something to repeat! There is no can't. Only lack of knowledge or fear. Only you can fix your fear. PMS #227 (just like the TV show)

0:3:3 no humps 3 jumps (first day in a month it's been decent) 3 beers for: 1st jump @ Skydive Chicago this year 1st spinning & rocking opening (worked itself out) 1st really low pull (damn, those houses looked big) Great weekend. But now I'm sore . Thank God for the much needed adrennalin fix!! There is no can't. Only lack of knowledge or fear. Only you can fix your fear. PMS #227 (just like the TV show)

I believe a pro 1 pin cypress is activated around 1200 feet, then the reserve is actually deployed around 800 - 700 feet. My question is this, if you were to pull around 1000 - 1100 ft & have a fast opening, does the cypress turn itself off (not fire)? There is no can't. Only lack of knowledge or fear. I had our load organizer do a 2 way belly w/ me. He said, great fast fall rate - you'd do super in the base for a larger way. Well, I knew it was meant as a compliment but also knew it meant I was a bigger girl . It's just hard to shed wuffo thinking. Now I sit fly & act as a ball for the newer head down guys. OMG I haven't enjoyed a movie so much in a very long time. Yes, very hot actresses, however, not so hot in this movie. I loved it!!! The whole theater screamed @ one point

Seems that the Hinckly hotties have found a great OZ link. Me, Michelle & now perhaps Val - what a group! Michelle said she had a blast & terribly missed you when you were sitting in on your australian equilivant of the bar exam - hope it went well!! Val- a cheap way to Australia is to go during their winter. Otherwise, their summer you'll be lucky to find fair just under $1500!! One other way is to go to another country 1st then buy the ticket to OZ (that's what HBO did). Seems that in the US is the most expensive place to buy. My dad's been in over 40 countries. His fav part of Europe is actually Easten. Progue is his fav city in the world! also $6/jump in Russia - can't beat that!! Try these links http://www.soyouwanna.com/site/syws/eurobackpack/eurobackpack.html http://www.hostels.net/index_hoe.php?website_id=2 and http://www.concierge.com/destination/europe One friend flew to England (cheapest destination from the US) then took the train to the mainland & all around. Had a great time & total transportation (for 3 weeks travel literally all over) cost less than just the ticket price straight into Paris. Buy a tour book guide. There is no can't. I agree w/ you 100% I'm 28 & still get IDd for cigarettes sometimes. But it does have to do w/ drinking lots & lots of water. But since I started skydiving, I now feel younger & younger. Sometimes I'm not sure though which accounts more for this - the joy or the lack of stress over "responsibilities". There is no can't. Only lack of knowledge or fear. Only you can fix your fear. Another bonus, most companies have tax relief for public transit users. Here they take the $ needed to pay for my transit out of my check pre-tax & mail me my transit card. For parking @ the train station, I get a receipt & get a refund for the tax savings I would have received. The do not offer this relief for the cost of gas. There is no can't. I agree w/ Bill 110%. I've been commuting for 5 years now & LOVE, LOVE LOVE public transit. I can read, if I have some randome class I can study, but mostly I like it cause I can sleep. An added benefit is that I get to live as do all the stupid people that drive in. The few times I drove, they were nearly killed (by me) & then I would have had to pleade guilty by reason of road rage insanity & would either be put to death or locked up forever. I visited Houston last April & just the bit of driving done well after 6 pm & before 4 pm on a work day was enough to drive me insane. I thought Chicago traffic was bad - at least it tends to move occasionally - but not there. There is no can't. Only lack of knowledge or fear. Only you can fix your fear. "Warm up enough" so you mean it can actually be too cold for that?? Man overhere we're glad when it's cold enough for the snow to stay for a while. Most of the time it melts away immediately If it gets really cold, it doesn't snow that often. Usually have to wait for a little warmer of air to blow in with some moisture in it. Last year was pretty cold, and there was almost no snow, same the year before. It just seems to go hand in hand that too cold means that there wont be crap for snow, and then all you have is the stuff on the ground. I always thought that the clouds were frozen shut & so wouldn't release any snow. Just cause it's dry doesn't mean there's no clouds either. And the stuff on the gound is only at the most 3 inches thick, frozen solid & multiple colors of grey/black (acid snow sucks)! I have heard that they do snow jumps @ sky knights... in WI, where it snows more. perhaps I'll make it up there this year. There is no can't. Only lack of knowledge or fear. In Chicagoland winters, we're all very excited when it actually warms up enough to snow. Let's you know that it's above frigid - so we should be able to actually feel our extremities upon touchdown. Other than turning into the wind... would one typically do a landing pattern into the sea? If you were a swooper, would you swoop the waves? Just a curious question, I don't want to do it!!
