  1. That confirms a lot for me! How were they?
  2. just at the regular photo-shop in the Netherlands... go and order. Normally they won't have it on stock, so it will take a week or so, but I had no problem ordering them. By the way, a very good lens. And why should you go even wider than the .45? I sometimes have to add some zoom to get the best pictures (well ... "had to" is better, I am using a bulletcam now) regards Do you have a web address or a shop name? I actually want a few different sizes, but I enjoy wider than .45 for some body mount stuff, and some other random applications. I have had a lot of difficulty finding these lenses and Hama won't ship overseas directly. thanks! mh
  3. Do any of you european types know where I can score a couple of these? Or if they make one wider? thanks! mh edit: 37mm thread preferred thx
  4. What idea? I have never even really MENTIONED my idea! People have turned my question into something I never intended. Thank you all for your opinions...problem SOLVED. thanks, mh
  5. I have 2500+ jumps using a stroboframe to mount a still camera with the biggest problem being a riser strike that twisted the camera (maybe twice). I'd be curious to see how big of a camera/lens he was jumping and how it was mounted to the helmet. Using variable focal length lenses can help create a lot of torque on the quick release in a situation such as a terminal reserve opening. On one of my helmets I now have my still camera bolted directly to the helmet with a 1/4-20 screw, and I had to add an additional strap to feel as comfortable as I did with a stroboframe. Where did it fail? mh
  6. anything on a computer that is shared among anyone else, and connected to the internet will contain written records. Thanks everyone--got it figured out. Ummm...my mistake. mh
  7. relating to, not to "talk about." one way stream of information. certainly NOT a forum...there are more than enough of those, don't y'all think? mh
  8. Funny...I didn't see HI and AK.
  9. I choose to not underestimate "the man," or the stupidity of people like: #10 Jeb Williams, 1986 Antenna Jump Dallas, Texas, USA Total Malfunction and Impact Jeb jumped from a free standing 500-foot antenna tower with skydiving gear and no reported BASE training or expereince. He impacted with nothing out. This jump cemented the cause for dedicated BASE jumping equipment in the BASE community. Talk of a person having a set amount of skydives before BASE jumping is still seven or eight years away. (courtesy of "the list") The less authorities know about an object, the better chance we have of not getting caught, bottom line. The less info that is posted on this (or any) BASE-related site, the less chance of someone who doesn't know what the fuck they're doing going in and fucking it up for everyone else that way. I wish it weren't that way...
  10. I agree with deuce. I would recommend studying film/photography at a REAL university, developing your skills as a photographer/videographer, and concurrently learning to skydive. I would venture to guess that less than half of the world's freefall photographers ACTUALLY know what an F-stop represents and how to use it. The benefit of having skills you can use outside of skydiving should be crystal anyhow, but what if you get hurt? How screwed are you then? You can learn everything that school will teach you and more for free in the reality of the skydiving world--just by asking questions, finding a mentor, and always being humble and ready to learn more. Being a good freefall photographer is much more than knowing the hows and whys--In the words of Richard Bach, it's being there. and for that you need to learn how to fly.

i didnt name the object.... pay attetion. Someone else names what the object was thanks for your support I'm not a nazi about this shite because I give a fuck about the "rules" on an internet forum. I'm a nazi about it because I don't want good BASE sites burned, even if they haven't been jumped yet. Think about the spirit of the "don't name names" rule, and why it's there. If you really need me to extrapolate as to what I mean and why your post falls into that category, let me know and I will, but it shouldn't be that hard. I know if I lived in the area that you mentioned I'd be pissed. It doesn't take a brain surgeon to figure out which objects you're talking about. PS: I'd be especially careful about burning objects in that state--I know of an infamous T&F that originated there...311--care to comment? mh
  12. I need help with creating a secure website relating to BASE sites. PM me with any ideas. Tom--get ahold of me too. mh

remember this? http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=366457;search_string=site%20naming;#366457 Why would you want to publicize a potential BASE site? huck nazi
  14. Holiday Inn Express is closest, The Shilo is a bit further but way better. They'll open up their conference rooms to pack in, and they're pretty liberal with the discounts...Military ID gets a good one...you can always ask for a BASE jumper discount! (seriously)
  15. Yes it will-problem with this specific camera is getting the footage onto your Mac--Apparently the interface software is not Mac compatible, and you HAVE to use that particular model camera as a player in order to capture any footage. The Only way i can see to do it right now, is capture the HD footage from the camera onto a PC, then save the files down to .avi or QT, and transfer them that way to a mac. IMHO, capturing footage takes long enough to do by itself, let alone having to transfer between platforms. I don't think FCP has any problems working with HD once it's on your machine. Besides all that, I think JVC makes shite. I've heard this HD camera is very unreliable even for non-jumpers. mh
  16. yes, It would be for special paying situations where someone wants specific footage in HD--It also sucks that these cameras aren't Macintosh compatible...But JVC kinda sucks anyhow... mh edit: Actually, I heard your tapes won't play in ANY other camera than that specific JVC model! Sheesh!
  17. Hey y'all. Is anyone out there jumping a Pana DVX100 or the JVC-HD1? I'm looking at using both, and buying one of them. I prefer the 24p or 30p over the 1CCD HD image, and I've heard bad things about the JVC HD camera. I've used the DVX100 a bunch in non-jumping scenarios and it's an awesome camera, but I'd love to get someone's opinion who's actually jumped one. Thanks yo! mh
  18. -Using bolt cutters to remove locks. there is a right way to do this...but you should know what it is BEFORE you snip -Stealing "Antenna Radiation" signs. stealing ANYTHING--why would you? -Writing your BASE # or putting stickers at the top of objects Oh my god! are there REALLY BASE jumpers out there that are THIS stupid? -Leaving anything parachute related visible in your car (I once watched the NPS break into a car because of knee pads in the back seat!) were you watching from nearby bushes, perhaps? Try to carry: -Radio, no matter what object or situation. -Cell phone -Money -Small first aid kit (bandaids, gauze, etc.) if you can. -Flashlight (never leave home w/o it....you never know how long you may be stuck in the woods). -Small poncho to protect you, or your gear, in the rain. -a small Gucchi handbag -lipstick and rouge I agree with most of those 428, but the last two scare me. You've been hanging out with Donk too much methinks. mh
  19. Yes, I've used BTV pro on a G4 laptop before then We used a 4Mega sure shot digi still camera--Oh my god the resolution was awesome! that setup was in a controlled environment with unlimited power and near where I could park a car, but unfortunately, This is WAY remote. No laptop possible, so I have to depend on the camera function. cheers. mh
  20. remote time lapse in a wilderness/backcountry environment--let's just say I'm "backpacking." Trying to record Wx patterns and hopefully some star movement. I was hoping there was something bigger than the 91. Oh well...
  21. For a [non-jumping] application that needs an ultra long lasting battery (time lapse)-- Does anyone know what the biggest is? cheers.
  22. Also, how long was your total time recording? Did you go through more than 1 battery? I won't be in any place that has power available, so I need to find the burliest M series battery in existence. I guess I'll start a new thread... mh
  23. That's exactly what I needed. How did your cloud experiment turn out? Did it work well? And what settings did you use? Oh, Quade--I'm looking at about a 20 hour period. mh
  24. Oh. I suppose I knew that, but I was under the impression that was also the term used for time lapse control on a Camcorder/computer. SO to rephrase: Does anyone know how to achieve time lapse on a sony Mini DV camcorder without the use of a computer? thanks!
  25. I have heard a rumor that the Sony DCR-PC9 has a built-in Chronometer on the camera. Can anyone confirm or deny this, and if it does, Do you know how to use it? Also, does anyone know of any OTHER Sony Mini DV camera with a Chronometer built in? Thanks! mh
