What happend to ftp.skydivingmovies.com???
Casch replied to mindcool's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Well I've got 82 files right now that I would be willing to upload...although with 128 upload speed....ugh -
WOW! 'Chele that was one HELL of a read. I felt like I was right there next to you in your jumps. It's so awesome, the thoughts and emotions, that pass through our minds during these times. Often times when I'm feeling low, I think to myself...I'm a skydiver. I jump out of airplanes for fun, and play in the sky with people so much more important in my life than these people around me. And then I laugh, and know that whatever it is that's bringing me down is NOTHING. Skydiving is where it's at, and I'm thankful for it. So, 'Chele, thank YOU!

Another thing you can do is just by a small roll/sheet of High Grade Vinyl. Make a stencil of the design you want and just trace it out with a plain hobby knife on the vinyl.

The equipment needed to make quality Vinyl cutouts is extremely expensive! I worked for a vinyl signage company for a while doing everything from the concept rendering, design, computer editing, to actual production and application of vinyl graphics. It's really an easy process, but the vinyl cutter is a really expensive piece of machinery. If you want to start a concession stand, have mass amounts of decals made at your local signage company, it's MUCH cheaper to buy in bulk, and you'll tend to get better quality cuts also, since they are making a ton of them, they'll get used to the process (every project has it's unique problems and characteristics.). There are some decals in the square1 catalogue and there are some other places online that feature them. I know a buddy of a guy here on DZ.com is making and selling them, but I don't remember who

question about deployment systems on student rigs?
Casch replied to outofit's topic in Safety and Training
BOC stand for Bottom of Container. The handle for a BOC system is generally placed at the bottom right corner of the container. So when you go to pull, you are reaching toward the small of your back. When most people speak of BOC, they are referring to a throwout system also. So they are actually throwing the PC into the relative wind. Although some DZ's such as Kapowsin Air Sports, have spring loaded PC's with the handle at same location. This is to smooth out the transition process between Rip-cord and BOC throwout. -
The internet? Oh wait, Gore did that, I forgot.

Anything 1500 ft and below I will use my reserve. The gear I usually jump usually takes about 600-800 ft to open. I want an absolute minimum of 500 feet to find a clear landing area. Even 500 feet isn't much time, unless you already know the outs for your DZ

Ahh, this I remember. It is unfortunate that a video teaching a good lesson must be destroyed to keep our sport alive

Here's my SP charactor...such a badass

37...jumps and no reserve rides yet. I have found my hand on silver a time or two though. Once around jump 12-15 or so, I didn't stow the toggles properly and they came loose upon opening and wrapped themselves around my right wrist and tied my wrist to the riser! I went into a hard right turn with linetwists. I almost pulled silver then I realised that I had a main canopy tied to my hand...not a good idea. So I pulled down on the left steering line, held it with my tied-up right hand, kicked out of the linetwists and planed out the canopy and spent about 40 seconds freeing myself from my steering lines I am MUCH more aware of toggle stowing now...yikes This was on a Skymaster 290 too. I hate to think what would have happened on something smaller

It seems odd that people would destroy footage of a fatality. Now, don't get me wrong, I understand that it's a very very tender subject. That said, I think it would be beneficial for others to actually see the footage and learn from it. Then the lesson is really absorbed. And I'm sure the deceased would be happy to know that people were learning from their mistakes. If there isn't much if anything to learn from the footage, then detroy if you wish. This is only my oppinion, I could be wrong...wouldn't suprise me. Blue skies all

I didn't know this kind of execution still exists

You know what, if I had my pick of ways to die, skydiving would definately be it. But ONLY if it would not hurt the sport, and there're really no ways to do so without hurting the sport. So, I think I'll just stay here, alive, for the next 40-50 years. -
FINDING THE HACKEY AT PULL TIME...WHERE IS IT?
Casch replied to PROGRESSIVE's topic in Gear and Rigging
That was quite possibly the strangest post I've seen here... -
Well is was most definately a full day trip. Woke up around 2ish and was in my hotel room around midnight
-
Don't have the money to fly And I could do the drive in a day, 16 hour drive from Portland, and that's at the speed limit. I remember when I was about 7, we went on a road trip and drove from Spokane, WA to L.A. in a day. About 2000 miles...eeek

I completely agree, I would have liked to learn via BOC. There wouldn't be as much of a conversion issue once off student status etc -
Is Hollister north or south of Perris? This is not a yes or no question either, I know someone's gonna try it.
-
If ANYONE'S driving down to Perris this weekend, and wouldn't mind a passenger, I would love the opportunity to tag along. I'll help with gas and all. Little bit of a late notice, but someone who will go unnamed is torturing me telling me that her and her friend REALLY want me to be there... this is a last ditch attempt to go so, help me out if you can! Also, are there any DZ planes going down to the boogie? If so, how much would it cost to tag along?
