That rollercoaster feeling ...
Casch replied to canopycandy's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
What I've found is that most people with that "Thrill-Seeker" personality shake in their boots when they think about skydiving. Weird ain't it? -
Funniest damn thing I have ever seen
Casch replied to bclark's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Heh, on every jump I've done I've made sure my shoes were good-n-tight. No one ever told me to, and I had never heard a story of losing shoes...it just seemed natural -
Um, your head will quite literally explode. I wouldn't do it unless you're into that sort of thing

Quote...look-right-grab, look-left-grab, strip-right-sweep, strip left sweep...See ya!" Ok when you were doing the cutaway, were you actually saying that in your head? I mean, I know what to do, but instead of saying it, I just produce the idea which is a lot faster...they kept telling me to say it out loud during the two handle training and I was like...there is no way I'm going to wait to say all that crap in the air, so why do it on the ground??? I'm just a little curious....

you mean there was real skydiving footage in there???

I actually just had to deal with a similar virus, a worm called W32.Supova.worm where the *.exe file was a random named file placed in my system32 folder, and it created hundreds of 40kb files named after popular software titles so that people would download it through Kazaa and thus spread the virus. I ran Norton to find and quarentine all the *.exe's that were spread around my harddrive with random names. Then after I quarantined them, I deleted them. You will most likely not be able to clean the quarantined files, and in my case, there was no need because they became their own files, they did not take over my own files. In order to delete the regestry key type regedit in the run box. Follow the directions to the key that are posted on symantecs website. Most likely it will be something like HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\WINDOWS\CURRENTVERSON\RUN because any key that is placed into that folder will tell your computer to run that specific program at startup. Now look through the window on the right side of the Registry Editor and there is a list of "Strings". You probably have one called "RDLL" and under data it says "RunDll16.exe" That's a good one....leave it alone but find the one that points to the infected *.exe file. Right Click on it, and hit delete. Then exit the registry and MAKE SURE!!! that you've not only quarantined the virus, but deleted it. If Norton can't clean it, you don't want it. Then REBOOT. And all SHOULD be well.

Impact of skydiving on your regular life
Casch replied to Mad47's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I think I'm gonna have to watch that movie now. Again...for the 1000th time. After I started skydiving, I became a different person. In computer lingo, I have been formatted, I have a new OS. I don't stress over things anymore. I'm more open to new situations and I'm not afraid to take risks (note; I mitigate risks in skydiving, I'm talking about non lethal risks). I don't know how else to say it other than I am not the same person I used to be. I kicked the other guy out and now you're all stuck with ME!!! MUAHHAHAHA....ahem...yeah -
I had a dream once that I had just taken off in a cessna and for some reason we were dodging trees on takeoff and we clipped a really tall one and it knocked the plane upside down and we just sorta fell straight down, upside down. As we got closer and closer to the ground, I felt more terror and ever, and I held on to anything I could, like it would help. We crashed, it hurt, we laughed about it at the firepit.

I believe the term was "AssHat "

This guy's got talent and definate potential.

Can someone point out the waterfall to me? I'm having trouble finding it...

Alright, there were harsh words said on both sides. Neither side is right, there is no right. We all have our ideas and oppionions and downwardspiral happens to be a minority in this group as far as this subject is concerned, and that's OK!!! It seems like we are all in the mood to perpetuate arguments this mornin' and I feel it has been perpetuated to death. So let's let bygons (sp) be bygons and return to our happy postwhoring...NOW! I don't need all this bad juju before my camping trip..., btw Sunny, very nice

At the DZ's I've jumped at I've been really lucky. I've never had to ask and experienced jumper to "waste a jump on me", they have always volunteered. There have been a few occasions when I told the other jumpers that I was going to do a solo and they would say "hey, why don't you join us?"

Sadly I sat through the entire movie. I feel like a lesser person for it If anyone were to ask me what the worst movie ever created was...I would say Solaris. Now I'm not saying it's a bad movie, but for my particular taste it was way too slow, there wasn't a whole lot of point to the movie. And what's up with Clooney showing his ass but not the chicks? Arrogant little bastard

If you're including insertion only....A big fat ZERO here

How do you use your Closing Pin Necklace?
Casch replied to Casch's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I can understand that. I like to be reminded on occasion that once or twice a month, I repeatedly fall from airplanes...kinda sets me apart from the crowd, and I've always hated the "crowd" -
How do you use your Closing Pin Necklace?
Casch replied to Casch's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
For those that have them, when do you wear them? Do you just wear them for a day at the DZ or do you wear it 24/7? Visable to others? How many people here have met another skydiver in the "Real World" because of a visable closing pin? Just today I met B1jercat at the video store I work at. I happened to wear it today (I wear it about half the time), and when he came to the counter he was like "Hey, that's a closing pin!" Mine usually ends up being a conversational piece for the interested whuffo, this is the first time it's done what I got it for, to meet other skydivers. Anyway, any other stories out there? -
Very cool pictures. Even cooler since I was just there and it's so familiar I was there Wednsday of last week. I only made one jump as I was only passing through, but I thought it was a kick ass little DZ

Send a PM to Wlie , he's the new West Coast Distributor for Kurupee. I'm ordering one from him within the next month or so. He loves his, they are quality and built to last. And I believe they will work with you as far as customization goes. WLie will be able to tell you more though, very cool guy too. Blue ones

It can, and has happened. Nothing is perfect, and it's important to accept the fact that yes, it is quite possible you could have a total malfunction after doing everything you're supposed to do. There's nothing you can do to remove the possibility of the event. But what you can, and must do, is read, learn and practice emergency procedures for any event you can think of. DZ.com is the perfect place to do this. I only have 41 jumps, but the knowlege I've gained about gear, malfunctions and emergency procedures is awesome I feel prepared to handle just about any situation I could be dealt. But I also do my best to mitigate the dangers by multiple gear checks, making sure the rig I'm jumping has been maintained well and practicing my emergency procedures. 90% of the problems you COULD have can be easily prevented by proper packing (if you have any question at all, however minor you think it might be, ask anyway), doing a gear check before you don your gear, have someone else give you a gear check before you board the plane. Feel your handles occasionally on the way to altitude, especially after shifting around in the plane. And that means all your handles, make sure they're there and seated where they're supposed to be. If you do these things on every jump, you'll improve your odds greatly. But ALWAYS be prepared to handle a malfunction, because sooner or later it WILL happen. Damn I rambled on quite a bit there didn't I?...ok then. I'm done

Situations/circumstances that really make you uncomfortable
Casch replied to Muenkel's topic in The Bonfire
I realise nothing I say will change the way these compliments are taken, but I will say this; the majority of people DO actually mean it when they say someone looks good. I mean, think about it. If a guy says you look good, he MUST mean it. Because if he didn't think so, he wouldn't want you to think he did, and give you the wrong impression. Now, take it how you will, but Suz, from the pictures I've seen of you, you're gorgious! -
Wow...after that as a student....I would feel obliged to continue in the sport in honor of the TM. Do you have the name of this guy?

Pfft, they don't count
