New Soul Flyers video is incredible!!
Casch replied to usskydiver's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
OMG I'm gonna have to get that DVD -
It's a drive format, like FAT, or FAT32. But NTFS is much much better. At the moment, I can't remember why...I think it's more secure.

Your right, I've never had any technical problems with it, it is a stable player. I just don't like the player itself...it just annoys me. I would much rather use Winamp or WMP to play movies.

Manly HUGS big buddy (you know, the one armed pat on the back one...yeah. But a hugs a hug eh? I hope things get better for ya soon, whatever's goin' on Be happy!

Every once in a while, if I'm on an open highway, no traffic, I like to put on my goggles and lean out the car window going 100mph, steering with my right leg. It takes some practice, but good fun I admit though, it's pretty stupid

That POS real player. I hate the whole REAL company....crappy software if you ask me. The only thing good about em is they seem to be able to cram pretty long movies into small file sizes.

I think it has a lot to do about life expectancy. If you have any education what so ever, you won't try and light a cherry bomb in your ass and blow yourself up Oh yeah, I'm gonna live till I'm 66. I think that's just right. I don't want to be one of those old weak guys with a walker and an oxygen tank. Bleh. I don't want to feel sorry for myself

As a member of the opposite sex, I am damn glad to hear it

That was quite possibly the coolest storie I have read about BASE jumping. Chillz

I do it for every reason people have stated so far, and so much more. A good portion of it really isn't possible to put in words. At least not for me, I'm sure Michele could quite easily Besides the fact that it's so incredibly fun and exciting and all, I have never been "Normal". And I absolutley love thinking about the fact that I have taken off in many more planes than I've landed in. I like being different than the average fatass 18 year old. The people in this sport even though I just started and hardley know any of them, are FRIGGIN AWESOME! So yeah, that's the short explanation. You'd have to read my mind to know the rest 'cause I can't really put it into words

Every once in a while when I go to the DZ, I bring a box of wheat thins or something and just set them on a table for whomever to snack on. Usually by the time I get down from the second jump of the day it's all gone but that's what they're there for.

Can you run it through the attic? Do you have one??
-
How difficult would it be to just run it under the house, I've run network cables under the house a few times, not too hard...

You could get a small motherboard like This One and build a computer in a small box like This. And turn it into your own home entertainment system... I think I'm going to do something like that soon, but with a different box...maybe an old vcr or something hehe

I just bought this rig. can a cypress be set up on it?
Casch replied to park1231's topic in Gear and Rigging
I don't know wether it will accept a cypres or not. It's 20 years old so I bet it's not "CYPRES Ready" but a rigger might be able to do something about that. My question is, what size is the cruiselite main? I don't see it on the auction... Oh, and I would definately consult a rigger before even thinking about freefly. And if it is/can be made freefly friendly...don't freefly with that main. I doubt it would survive a highspeed opening. -
B Liscense aerial performance requirements
Casch replied to PlayDough's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
The average fallrate will be a bit faster because of the maneuvers. I believe the average fallrate for belly to earth position is 5.5 seconds per 1000ft, I would venture to guess that after the maneuvers, it will be more like 4.8 to 5 seconds per 1000ft on average. What will probably take the longest are the backloops and even those will take a max of 3 seconds. and if your turns 360's take 3 seconds, you might want to figure out how to go faster. Mine are usually around 1.5 seconds I'd guess. Anyway don't worry about it. If you're not able to get it done in the time frame, you may not be ready for the license. But you will get it eventually. -
B Liscense aerial performance requirements
Casch replied to PlayDough's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Well look at it this way, you have 3 seconds to perform each maneuver. 3 seconds of FF is a lot longer than it sounds on the ground. I think you'll do fine. -
Umm, I've never inspected my DZ's Reseserve info cards on their rigs, but does it really state what the main canopy is? And if it does, why would they do that when mains can and do often change, much more often and easier than reserves?

Yeah Blockbuster sucks ass. I work in a small movie store called Movie Madness (Blockbuster's right across the street) and we get a fair amount of business. We also run a late list every morning for any past due movie, then we scour the store for each movie on the list to make SURE that the customer still has it. Then we call every person on the list to notify them that their movies are past due. Blockbuster could learn a thing or two.

lol, yeah...been there. The bastards. I wish they'd just give you a call or something so that you can reconcile your account before charges are added. I'd rather then call me and tell me I need to give them $5 to zero out my account than get my bank statement and see they took the liberty of adding a $25-$30 NSF fee....
-
My bank doesn't seem to have any fees what-so-ever. I think the only thing I paid for were my checks. I'm getting a Visa check card soon to replace the use of my credit card, and that's free too. I love washington mutual.

Comparing a CYPRES to a seatbelt is soooo off. When I drive up I-5 3 hours to the DZ, I'm trusting my life to Hundreds of thousands of other drivers. I'm relying on them NOT crossing over into my lane and hitting me. Otherwise, I'm confident in my driving. When I skydive, there are only a few people I'm trusting my life with and I'm fairly confident with them. And I trust that, willing and able, I will pull on my own.

LOL! That's exactly how I felt at the beginning of the dream... Lions are awesome beasts, but scare the living hell out of me when there's nothing between us...

So last night I had this weird dream. I'm at this huge beautiful house on the top of a large hill just outside town. It has a great view of Hagg Lake, a lake about 5 miles from here. I decide to follow a trail down the hill to the lake and when I get there, I see a few people running around and theres this Lion chasing people in the field, at first I'm terrified and I run down towards the water. When I get there, I see a leapard, a tiger, and an Ostrich. Then I see people petting these animals...it's a petting zoo. Soon the Lion that I was running from earlier walks up into a pool and is rolling around in it. For some reason I walk up to it slowly, still terrified. I stratch it's ear and I become more comfortable with it. Then I pick up a brush and groom and bathe the lion. I woke up soon after thinking..."What the hell was that!" It was pretty trippy, and still very vivid in my mind. I can't help but wonder...what does it all mean??
