Alright, which model would you recommend? Some of THESE are fairly cheap, and some of them are going for a helluvalot. I don't want to buy one of the cheaper ones and find that it's not very accurate, and I don't want to buy a more expensive one and learn later on that I wasted $40

Call ahead and talk to someone at KAS about letting you do a few jumps, they'll work with you to get ya in the air. Obviously you wouldn't be able to jump with everyone else, but I'm sure they'll work something out.

Alright, first off, I know NOTHING about BASE...well compared to others such as Tom Aiello. But here is my understanding of the difference. First off, the most obvious. No reserve canopy. There's very little use for a reserve as most base jumps are done from an altitude where a reserve deployment is all but impossible. BASE rigs are built to open FAST. Different sized pilot chutes are used depending on the lenght of the delay. In a short delay, generally you would use a larger P/C because of the lower airspeed. In a longer delay, you'll use a smaller P/C so that the opening doesn't hurt like a biatch! BASE canopies are very different from skydiving canopies. I can't tell you the specific differences, but they are designed to open as fast as you want them to open. Different packing techniques can be used to design the perfect opening for your exit point. These are the VERY BASIC differences from a total BASE NOOB. Take it with a grain of salt, and just savor the information until one of the local pro's get's here. Blue Skies, Happy landings

MMM, Runs suweeeet! The contacts on the distributer cap were sooo corroded, along with the spark plugs that have been in there for 50K miles. Nice new slippery slimy oil, new pcv valve...or is it pvc? Will put a new belt, fuel filter and distributer cap on tomorrow ...gotta adjust the timing too...it keeps having fits where it feels like it's missing, although that could be the shitty gas and filter too. We'll soon find out
