  1. Tony plans to have the new bonfire pit at the DZ ready for next weekend as well. But don't worry, I've got lots of trees to burn the following weekend you are in town from our property.
  2. Cool! Let's get KatieBear, SlotPerfect, BB, SkyMonkeyOne, Raefordite, Pammi.....I feel a boogie coming on.......
  3. Travel on down to Raeford, North Carolina! With parental consent we have 16 year old's for AFF or S/L progression. NO tandems until 18 years of age. www.JumpRaeford.com

  5. BB: Slotperfect is a great guy. We love it when he is jumping at Raeford and especially when working with students in the school. Great photos too! Glad you two had a fabulous time!! And now that you are done with him - - - SEND HIM BACK! We miss him.

  7. Leroy - we look forward to your return! Where is your rig? We can get it repacked for you so you will have it ready and waiting. I'm sure you'll have plenty of folks willing to help out on the refresher. See you soon!!!
  8. I just read the article. The student became unstable at pull time, tumbling through the air. One Instructor released at 1,100 ft and deployed, per the article. The second Instructor, Bonadies remained and pulled the student's main ripcord as the student's CYPRES fired the reserve. The second Instructor died on impact, no time to deploy his own canopy. Again, per the article. I'm sure he was a wonderful person. Too bad he didn't have a CYPRES.
  9. Yep, I need to get a few action photo's of Tut with his ball or maybe leading the 4-wheeler for a run around the pit!

    Pet Tricks

Little King Tut can: Sit stay shake down speak come (but only if you say it three times) turn around right turn around left doesn't touch the treat until the command "ok" walk on a treadmill for exercise Knows he is not allowed in the dining room during dinner Knows that if he hears "ep" slurred, what ever he has drop it, stop it, get off it and pay attention now. Tut's personal favorite is to beg for food with great pride and expertise while at the drop zone
  11. The first photo is of Little King Tut and second photo is Spider. Both are mutt dogs. Tut goes to the DZ everyday with us and Spider stays home to guard the house. They are both great dogs.
  12. I am also from Chicago. I moved to Florida a year out of college. Many of my friends felt I was crazy (they are still in Chicago today). My thought was if I didn't like it, I could always move back to Chicago! As it turns out, 4.5 years in Florida, now I've called North Carolina home for 13 years and love it. I don't miss the cost of living or the winter weather of Chicago! But I do take my family to Chicago at least once a year to visit.
  13. Yes, Caledonian has been out of business for some time now. Try www.skykat.com or Go fast Sportswear, GoWear, etc.
  14. Hurricane Isabel wasn't too bad for us in Raeford. We have a little hurricane party at the house (i.e. get all the RV & trailer folks out of their homes) going on. Only one rescue on the 4-wheeler to cut up a medium sized tree in the way. No power line problems. Isabel is on her last legs here now. Winds are down to the teens and gusts around 30 mph, not much more rain. We expect great weather over the next 3 days! But lots of clean up tomorrow.
  15. Deuce: Thanks for asking! The worst is over. It is still lightly raining and winds in the upper teens, with gusts occasionally to 30 mph. We had 29 mph average winds with the highest gust of 65 pmh at 2:56pm (can you tell I'm a skydiver?). I'm guessing about 2 -3 inches of rain, maybe more. So far only had to cut up one medium sized tree across my dirt road to the house. At least I got to take my 4-wheeler out to play in the rain and with a chain saw! I am sure their will be loads of clean up at the DZ tomorrow. We have so many pine trees..... SkyMonkeyOne was planning on tethering himself to a tree during the high winds. That is, with his birdman suit on. I think the the rain stopped him. Crazy monkey.
  16. Just like all the women in my family I should live to 93. If you do the full lifeline calculator I get to make it to 97! Yippee!
  17. No - which is also why I would not do a low altitude base jump. I like the idea of time and a second chance. I love my CYPRES, but only as a component of my equipment, not my only life line.
  18. I saw a parachute demo team in the early 1980's They were under round main canopies. I also saw a video about jumping that same day. I was hooked----all except for that last inch of landing under a round. Then saw a small DZ in the late 1980's. Square mains! Cool! Except these folks still had their S/L progression students under round main canopies. Again that last inch bothered me. Until 1993 when I went to Raeford Parachute Center and saw the equipment progression. Now - 2300+ jumps and still jumping. I love it!
  19. Although I occasionally still visit, I haven't lived in Chicago for 17 years and the Empire Carpet jingle immediately came to mind when I read this. I am truly haunted!
  20. www.jumpraeford.com Raeford has had this boogie the last two years. Worth the trip!
