Hey all, As you may have read we started a little swoop club in our corner of Canada. I am so excited after just one week that I wanted to share. I think every drop zone with people interested in swooping should start something. We arrived early and set up a course consising of some entrance gates, about 25 ft wide and then three cones down the centre to measure distance and we put a ball on the top fo one of them. We stated the day by stretching and then talking about what we were going to do. We had people that had been swooping for a long time to people that had never swooped in their life come. We discussed beginner appraoches to safety ....etc. We planned on doing 3 rounds but it got cut short by talking to much and 22 tandems showing up and some of us having to work but this is what I learned. Accuracy, and swooping go hand in hand and mine needs work. In doing this, it showed me how little I actually put into landing exactly where I wanted to, yeah I am usaully end up where I want but sometimes my lane is off. I need work on that. Having video on your jumps, imperitive to learning. I am really excited about what some dedication to this is going to do to my skill level and it shows after just one weekend. I would really recommend this to everyone out there as it is fun and at the same time you will learn more if you dedicate part of your day to just one aspect and not leaving it as an after thought and thinking you will get better. ~Chachi

I think the forum takes on a life of the people in it. Most of the questions on here are about swooping, wl, and being a better swooper. If you want the forum to take ona different direction you will have to direct all of the people to post these things. Forums on the internet are driven by what people want to talk about. Maybe we could have a canopy control forum and a swooping one? ~Chachi

well as always jose you come up with these ridiculous questions and post them in the forum, you are a continual disappointment to me. however, i believe that there may still be hope for you. i agree you should be doing this on the ground and if you would have just stopped whining long enough this weeeknd and asked me i would have told you. oh yeah, make sure that you aren't closing one eye, just look through the sight with both open and it will help. if you can't understand these simple tips from reading call me and i will explain it as i would trying to teach a child. on second though, just call me.....LOL

I think you should get another hundred jumps or so and then start looking for a camera system. First, in the next hundred jumps or so you will figure out what filming you would prefer to do. Secondly, by then you will have a lot more flying experience and be better suited to skydiving with a camera on your head. In that time things will change especially in the camera dept. ~Chachi

I guess I should put this in perspective. Arguing on the internet is so tedious sometimes. I guess I mean an ajacent field to the dz or some other completely safe place. You guys are right, there is absolutely no reason to put a tandem in any risk for a shot. I just know my dz. We always have the worst spots due to the International Airport flight line restrictions we face. So, tandems sometimes go very very very long and sometimes we can't float back. We do have these grat fields though adjacent to the runways that sometimes I will ditch into and our TM's land beside us in this case. When I say it is the job, I fell in the right circumstances it is. In a backyard or a playground, no, TM should take the safe choice obviously. Huge filed, another story IMO. ~Chachi
