Sonoma?? Born and raised in Sonoma county myself I've been doing the EMT gig for 6 years now for a private company in Bakersfield. Actually a pretty big company. We run BLS and ALS units. Myself, Im on an ALS rig (EMT and Paramedic), work just like a fire schedule -2 on, 2 off, 2 on, 2 off, 2 on 8 off in a station. We have an EMT academy (paid), company pays for Medic school, pays ya while you go etc. It really is a good deal. Overtime is the only way to make any decent dollars... I work plenty of 8 hour metro shifts where you post all over the city in the bambulance.If I was a youngster I definately would have gone the fire route but Im a little older and a LOT beat up Its good and its bad.... Bought my Mom a garage door opener for Christmas and "installed" it yesterday. Looking for an online A&P class I can do with my insane work schedule. Been looking around the internet. Anyone done a decent Anatomy and Physiology class they would recommend? Im not looking for any degree's or anything, just like to better my knowledge for work. I found from $50.00 up to $1800.00 for a 7 week class @ University of Phoenix online. You're right, there are some who don't believe in God who manage in 12-step programs. They are, however, the minority. As far as helplessness goes, that's really not the concept. It's powerlessness. It may not seem to be a differene to you, but it is. If they were truly helpless, there would be nothing they could do at all. But there is. They have a problem that has grown to be larger than their own will to control. That's the very definition of addition. They can allow something or someone that is larger than them and their addiction to intervene and help. They recognize they are powerless over their addiction but that they have the power to let a higher power intercede. For those who don't believe in God as a higher power, they may use the group as that higher power. However, most come to some belief in a God sooner or later if they remain in the program. --------------------------------------------------------- Thats pretty much been my personal experience. Do you get one? Do you expect one? All of our fulltime field employee's (about 300+) got a $100.00 JC Penny's gift card and the other maybe 100 office personell get I dont know what?? I dont know what the field supervisors get either (like office folks, really none of my business). I heard some new field employees that have been here like a couple of months tops whining about "only got $100.00 gift card". That makes me mad I've worked where we got huge bonuses, and I've worked where we got a fruitcake. Myself, I dont expect anything and appreciate what I get when I do.
