From the article - I think the above is where a line was crossed - in protest, the group should absolutely be able to make sure the community is aware of the bakery's policies and let the vendors and other citizens make their own choices in the matter. they should absolutely boycott doing business with that bakery (both sides are likely in agreement of that). but, to actively and directly take action to destroy the business by cutting off supply at the vendor source is a pretty vicious line to cross and also a pretty crappy dilemma to put on the vendors as well who's only action was to sell their supplies to a customer willing to buy them I think you take the stance to allow the business to destroy itself due to bad policies - through public awareness. Once you cross that line and try to destroy it directly, then that's my issue. ... in short - this isn't organized attacks against him practicing religion....it's organized attacks against him practicing running a business It's a silly business practice and the 'market' is dealing with it without any help from big brother. It's a good example of free market action and shows that the government should just stay out of it now. Everyone eats cakes - and turning away legitimate business is just dumb. he'd be more successful not serving diabetics..... ... Heard of it for 4 cases. Mormon and Islam recently. The other two was decades ago. Atheists? I'd think it would never get that far. Most are tolerant, and, like any other belief system, the idiotic fanaticals in that area would just drive away anyone with an opposing viewpoint long before it got serious. ... Yes regarding contraception. Probably no on the STDs. That's not their primary mission. Actually yes on both. They don't just serve women. Low cost testing and treatment for STDs for both men and women is part of their mission. Had a buddy in college tried to use them and they sent him packing "we only treat women, go away". The whole circle of friends were amazed. Glad they fixed it. ... don't let that get in the way the PC zealots don't like guns - therefore, regardless of the truth or evidence, they already have the 'real' scenarios in their minds. It's too hard to give up the stereotypes they've been indoctrinated with all their lives. heck - if i was being confronted by a guy with a gun, I'd pick up a rock too. Oars are crappy throwing weapons and you can't use them until you get in close. I'd look around for something else. It's really Bush's fault, If Reagan would have just opened the borders, life would be better for baby seals and the rainforest. the real story will likely be something we see all the time - both sides are pretty much telling the truth and trying to live as best they can with the cards they are dealt with. A stupid confrontation results in bad words, throw rocks (maybe by just one guy out of the group, but someone does it), and a shot fired. Likely both sides were terrified and neither side is really evil. Only boat oars are truly evil.....err, I mean oar guns....uh, GUNS, yeah, guns. the real victim here was the rocks......they were just minding their own business before being violated in so many ways. I'm amazed at the acrobatics people use to put themselves mentally in the shoes of just one side of a conflict and not both sides. ... Multiple stabbings of 'students' in high school

Really, Bill. Squint a little. so whites and latinos haven't been naming their kids goofy names in the last couple decades? I thought you had kids. So you see a name and assume a race......pot meet kettle. Dan's post was a very blatant PA and nothing is done about it. The prof has been getting away with it a lot lately too, and he's a great guy. but these forums seems to bring out the crap in people. I still think the article is about the stupid school response and a statement about actions of violence not being specific to the type of weapon. not race. But I'm guilty of assuming it was a 'public' school. It seems when people try to be sincerely color blind then they really get hammered by those that are incapable of even the effort. MLK is rolling over in his grave. ... Driving is a one dimensional activity - a monkey can do it - being proud of your driving abilities is like being proud of being able to put on pants -

Second request now: what kind of business is it, please? Otherwise, your example is pretty hard for us to evaluate in the absence of context. can a guy use Planned Parenthood to get advice, treatment for simple sexually contracted conditions (infections, crabs, etc), contraception, etc? this would be a good example and I just don't know.... ... The whole post is a story about how poorly the school handled the aftermath. No where in there did I see anything about the race of the victims or the attackers.... maybe a statement about public schools maybe a statement in there about gun vs knife but I don't see any race implication at all do you guys read the posts, or do you have a cut and paste to quickly tag posters as racists and bigots? sad ... if the restaurant is run by any level of government, no private? as crappy as it is, yes. Though I suspect none of us would choose to run our business that way. I also think that individuals have a right to publicly humiliate that business so that the public finds out about the policy and can choose to avoid it for any reason. I suspect that restaurant would soon go out of business. Despite all the crying about it, society has grown up quite a bit - being Big Brother to every biz decision is too over the top, IMO. Should scholarships be restricted only to women, or minorities? or men? Should there be such a thing as a women's only club? men's only club? Should there be such a thing as "Black TV"? gender only bathrooms? etc etc etc as stupid as all these things seem, if any exist, then all variations have to also be allowed ... what's disturbing here is that you appear to not think it's a big deal unless it's attached to the completely different crime of assault. or even, that you think it's worse only if done by a stranger. rape = rape assault = assault both are bad - the fact that you have to tie a totally different crime to it to make your point is pretty clear that you don't get it at all ... What's with these USPA rules? Are they really necessary?

incapable and irresponsible - if someone thinks they can drive 120 on public roads, they should not be allowed to drive....period. Incredibly bad judgement. I don't want anyone that has zero concern or responsibility for others at my DZ. the alternative is he could afford to use a closed track on a 'daily' basis. then he should just buy his own plane and leave the rest of us in safety. Don't let him jump - and while we're at it - take away his driver's license and car keys ... rehmwa replied to mx_maniac's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I'll bite: I would very much like to have the USPA membership (provided it keeps the Feds' noses out of our business - which I'm not sure if that's proven or not). But I'd gladly take a discounted membership rate and forego the magazine - which we get two of them and I don't read either copy. (or put it on-line and stop killing trees). I'm not a fan of 'requiring' coaches or coach jumps. But I am a fan of requiring demonstration of minimal skills sets for the Licenses. But, an AFFI can sign off or it would nice if they could sign if a trusted up jumper non-coach can vouch for observing the skills. But I'm also biased against the rating itself, ditto on the PRO rating too for that matter. I think cameras on newbies is stupid and out of control. Leave them on the ground and don't whine about it. Earn it with a few hundred jumps and being current. Currency in the sport is very important - I'd prefer that 'tourists' that just jump a couple times a year or only at one boogie a year please quit this activity. ... I really hate this statement. Syrians are just people too. I do object with us taking action in their country. If the people of Syria don't like the treatment at the hands of their own government - they should rise up. We don't need to be the world cop, we don't need to be big brother. We need to monitor these situations for the sole purpose of making sure our citizens are protected. International involvement in conflicts should be strictly controlled by our agreements with allies, or self interest. I don't think that the level of outrage by our president should have any impact on decisions to interfere with business in other countries. ...
