  1. ^^^^ my point. and it's done across the board, isn't it? and not just on a partisan basis. My difficulty when seeing it on both sides is trying to figure out who is doing it sincerely (needs help and insight) vs those that just do it knowingly and obtusely (typical partisan hacks and trolls and those pressing their agenda). ... 2. you've clearly identified the terribly biased statement that plays into political bumper sticker type rhetoric, Wendy. But then go forward and miss the point, I think I don't know about 'boiling with anger', but certainly there is a large percentage of all demographics that are very concerned with unequal treatment created solely by political posturing that has a real affect on all citizens. To minimize it by unfairly calling a manufactured demographic as being the sole petty or unreasoning group is dismissive in a very patronizing way. I would give the credit to one of Ron's statements though (before the tangent), that people are terrible at expressing their concerns. And, though trying understand the root of their concerns would be productive, most of the time, they get stereotyped and attacked due to the poor presentation of their frustration. Clarity is not demanded, just attacks and shutdowns. It's kind of sad. One, that people won't take the time express themselves better in more productive ways. Two, that others won't try to be the bigger person and work a little bit to find out what's really underneath. Pretty much, nasty stereotypes just get attacked by reverse nasty stereotypes and nothing gets done. It's a bit sad. I think it's less true bias, and more just excessive laziness that eventually festers into more shallow biases over time - easier to blame this group, or that party, than it is to try to see past that and figure out the real issue. ... 4. nail hit on a 'no kidding' moment is anyone surprised that people that live in concentrated areas prefer social structures that require specialties and leveraging the work of others next thing you know, he'll state that people that live in the wilderness just randomly have better survival skills the real issue is that people that live in tightly densified areas seem to think their lifestyle must be forced on everyone else that might live in a different environment ... 5. hush - you must be filthy rich. and even mentioning it goes up will have someone tell you to shut up and get educated. 6. well, he said "some", not "all" - so his normal habit of pissy generalization is mitigated quite a bit. for that matter - the fact that a Bush was at a gay wedding will also irritate 'some' left wingers people are irritable, especially the fringies. but who really cares? ... I'm not so....as you say..."eloquent" or "subtle". perhaps Dan is right and more "boobies" would help me focus. actually, now that you explained your intent - it's a pretty good one. ... 11. 1 - I agree with that first sentence. It happens way too often here. It's the first response regardless of topic. You found the marine to be racist (I found that, and a few other things too, that were objectionable in addition to just the one thing), then you used that to call Ron racist. I don't see why posters here don't get tired of that same old attack, every post, every thread. True or not. applicable or not. 2 - I reread that quote too and decided the marine really had so much bad stuff in there, that it's not worth trying to sort any wheat from the chaff. If any is hidden in there at all, it's likely accidental. But you didn't see that I already wrote that, else you didn't finish the thread before you composed that last post, or decided you were on a roll and posted regardless. no biggie - it's S.O.P. for many posters ... 12. I see what you're saying so in other words, white men in leadership positions have to distance themselves publicly, right??? Wendy P. I don't get what you are trying to say here. I'm saying something simple - this guy makes some really bad connections due his clear biases. Most people that worry about PC thuggery, erosion of individualism, and responsibility are not this way. It needs to be kept separate. He's an ass, he sees a problem, but quickly ties it incorrectly due to his biases. Since he did it so incredibly poorly, the discussion will get rejected instead of just rejecting his bias and looking at the base problem without the clutter Edit: I reread his tirade - actually, he's not even making those points. there's some kind of cultural takeover message in there, but I can't really sort the wheat from the chaff. ... 13. No - they have to take tirades like this. 1 - sincerely note that most people don't have such a narrow bias perspective. your statement that most have to "publicly" distance themselves. it's a subtle thing, but are you implying that that are all racists and 'privately' do something else? I disagree. 2 - but the erosion of personal freedoms is a potential problem for all, not just "Christian white guys". Everyone has a stake in it. yes, individuality, personal freedoms, etc are now politicized as something horrible and leveraged to knee jerk and call people terrible names. Look at this site - hair trigger responses and name calling, GD's response out within seconds. but they shouldn't be. ... 14. A speech that talks about the erosion of individuality, personal freedoms, the PC takeover of societal questions. etc would ring true with many. He really loses reasonable people when trying to tie that argument to his clear personal biases. And it unfairly links those that do want to discuss those topics to people that are so clearly biased in non-related areas. But this guy's note really doesn't fit the mold when he opens up that way. It's hard to give any credibility to the thing when he's grumbling in such a way. it turned me off too, immediately ... 18. My favorite threads are titled "what is the best and cheapest (insert component here)" then it's full of whatever the next poster uses, blatant advertising by vendors, and other pointless crap about subjective decisions. sometimes a poll "What do you own?" would give easier results without the churn (the other one is when instructors pretend to be newbies and post "How much should I tip my instructor" threads. ... 19. When I coach rookie teams, I go with H and P No head jams required for either, but I do ask OC (P) and Tail (H and P) to prioritize holding onto the plane with the left hand and taking the right hand grip in the jam. Better leverage and timing. They can pick up the left hand on go, or even slightly before, frankly. etc: On H, it's legal for the point to take a grip on the OC if that helps - at least on the exit if the OC isn't very strong in the door. ... 20. You are absolutely correct. Nice example of how liberals think: Jesus collected what little food a few people still had, barely enough for a few families, and then suddenly, POOOFF!!! everyone got to eat their fill it's a great example of liberal logic and how religious (blind faith in government instead of a mystical fairy creature is still blind faith) and superstitious they really are deep down If the original food owners then got belittled and called names and were given no food in return, then it would be perfect ...
