Congrats Lieutenant - And thank you for serving. Many find that the military has less problems in the area of special considerations (I'm sure someone will throw out exceptions though). ... Amen to that. Problem - we are not allowed to act this way. Most of the issues in the threads comes down to that. Affirmative action is discrimination. ... I did not know about a 'Prescott Bush'. Would that have been the grandfather? When did he serve? Maybe he had some pull to get G into school at that time. If so, then both of them were super silver spoon babies. If he was the grandfather, I don't care about his politics if you want to apply them to the current GWB. Would you consider it fair to be judged based on someone 2 generations removed from you? Although I believe that is a straw both sides grasp at. ... I think we're on the same page. You push to put your arms in position - that's ok. (I'm also pretty sure you are WAY more experienced in 4-way, I've only got 3 years - go Frost) What I meant is you don't push with your arms to get your head high, you lift the head and torso with the back muscles (straight from tunnel camp - Shannon, Lise, Ian if I remember right). One problem I've seen lately to validate this statement - is students trying to push down to get the torso up, that's wrong - the arms are independent of the torso. I'd like to be more head high than I am right now. I'll try more pressure on the arms and see how it feels. THANKS Smooth - Great pics in the clicky. ... [reply But the fact is that this Muslim faith should be made illegal. .....I have yet to see the story of the church going Catholic boy who strapped explosives to him and went into a place where the infidels were with the intention to blow himself up soley for the purpose of pushing his religon ahealiberals . You had me for a while, up to this point. Frankly, I consider all organized religions in the same boat - power structure to control the ignorant masses - keep 'em stupid, keep 'em pregnant, keep 'em dependent - (much like the Democratics more extreme types). As far as the nice Catholic boy with the bomb - I'm sure someone will bring up bombing abortion clinics or shooting doctors or something. How's that for stoking the fire? ... Not so scary, you're not really upside down, it's more like being in a downplane but instead of going straight down, the thing descends at an angle. The guy on bottom is just angle towards upside down. The more canopies on the top, the more upside down the bottom guy gets. When it's really steep - does anyone know if there is an issue dropping the bottom person - or will they still just swing forward and around their canopy? We always just drop the downplane and I've never done one with more than a quadraplane. ... Ron's got it, write a letter in freefall. One exception, don't support your upper body with your arms - i.e., don't push down with your arms to get your head up. Lift your head and upper torso up with your back muscles. Freediver - don't do this standing up - refer to the freeflying forum. Actually, I understand what you mean, don't think about it standing up, too confusing. I'd say that the elbows can be anywhere in the plane of the floor (recall watching TV on the floor example). If you are falling slow, they'd be out in front of you (if standing, higher than shoulders). If trying to fall slow, they'd be tucked down a bit toward your ribs. later ... Just making comparisons (Skull and Bones is just left wing bait, I still think SENATOR Al Gore Sr had more pull). It wasn't an even match and GWB still did better for his education. Anyway, it really isn't about Gore anyway, it's about someone making a personal (appearance) slam on one guy doing his job as best as available and then talking about tax codes, which seems all of us consider the current situation unfair. The two positions are: 1 - Some kind of flat rate or sales rate with the first bit of income exempted to account for cost of living or: 2 - The rich should pay for everyone because (because we aren't) and they are very bad people for being successful and should be sterilized and punished severely Also, I like to see the fur fly. Goofball - At that time, Bush Sr. was not very powerful (politically) at all (I believe he had recently lost either a governor or congress election). Actually Gore Sr was the high powered congressman, and Gore was the one who flunked out of college. 1300 on SATs is 98 percentile or better back then. The scores and the test (also ACTs) have been significantly watered down in the last 5-10 years. ... Anvil - Thanks for reading the question. I said Income, not "has the wealth" Other I'd bet just about everybody busts their butts to earn a living regardless of how much their paycheck is. Just because a person has a hard time of it, doesn't exempt from paying the dues - that's what the standard deductions are intended to cover. 50% of all people know 76% of all this information. If we didn't play all these tax games, then the loopholes wouldn't be there and the CEO's wouldn't be able to LEGALLY exempt certain incomes. But then maybe everyone would pay something. I'd love to see a straight tax rate for everyone with the first $XXXXX per person not taxed (even if some would still get off scott free - and likely drive up family size in certain areas). It would still be progressive, but at least it would have some sense to it. And many wouldn't ever have to file a tax return and we wouldn't spend so much on having a big government department to police it. Strangely, conservatives more often support this position than liberals (who is more beholding to the rich accountants and lawyers?) ... Real simple - turn on the TV set Lie down in front of the TV set on the floor like you're watching it. Take your hands off from under your chin and lay your forearms (in or forward) flat on the floor. That's about it (from knees to bottom of rib cage relatively flat, the head is lifted with the back muscles - not pushed up with the arms - to a fairly high place, hands and elbows in front in whatever is comfortable, feet are extended a little more than you'd think). ... Quote The top 1% of the population has 30% of the countries wealth. reply] These are always interesting stats. Conservatives spin the other way "the top x% of people pay (something greater than x%) of the taxes". All I want to know is, if the top 1% earns 30% of the income, do they pay 30% of the taxes? I hear they pay more, but I've never seen it broken down that way. To me, it's not fair unless everyone pays something. Being directly proportional to income seems as fair as anything, and we don't have that system. Anyone have the stats in that form? ... Any day traders or investment brokers out there want to talk to this one? Obviously research and doing your homework is so easy, you just sit on your butts and get lucky without any effort. c'mon Quade - mental work is just as much of a personal investment than labor. This is just a little too historically socialistic in comment, I'm sure you did not mean it. Some (not me) might say the brick layer took the easy way out and didn't take the effort to work and go to college at the same time. Me, I think it depends on the individual. But I'll never blame the investor for the choices the bricklayer made. ... Local types can tell you if you're being too aggressive, most of us can't from here. All I can say, is if you don't get hurt, you and your SO will come up eventually and jump with me. I'd hate to miss that. Like buying anything, split the difference between now and 2 years - Put aside $$ from each paycheck for the next year and earn interest on it (instead of paying it) towards an eventual purchase. In the meantime, demo everything you can get your hands on. This will also let you work down to that size and not just lock in on the one model. After only a couple hundred jumps, you likely still want a used transition canopy before you move a lot smaller and finally pay for that small hot custom color job you plan to jump for the next 5-6 years..... ...
