  1. Flat Tax makes too much sense, so we all know that won't happen. God forbid everyone is treated equally. yeah, that would suck - all income, doesn't matter how it's obtained (the whole what income is "earned" vs not is silly, you earn it through labor, you earn it through investment/risk, you earned it via whatever means) playing favorites, whether lefty or righty bias, and treating individuals unequally is simply wrong everybody should pay, everybody should participate GOP will overspend regardless, so will DEM's - no kidding. But if EVERYONE has to now pay that much higher rate, rather than hiding the cost into whatever social demographic is unpopular, then maybe all the public will be more inclined to push for better budgeting from the politicians. You want that defense spending increase, you want those social program increases, you want those nifty new alternate energy subsidies, you want that nifty program (for the children), EVERYBODY will pay an additional x% in taxes vs last year's rates.....that really puts forward what government costs. If those increases costs me nothing, and someone vaguely tells me it costs my neighbor an additional x%, it's heard, but does it register? Right now, group A wants whatever they can force group B to pay for.... no kidding ... 3. this ^^ If we go in right off, we're empire building and power hungry cowboys. If we wait, for any reason, we're selfish, greedy, and uncaring. But if we wait until the U.N. gets fed up and ASKS us, then we sure could demand equal participation and risk from the other countries that also share this planet, but seem happy to stand behind a tree and watch us and play monday morning quarterback. ... 10. that's messed up - it crosses the line from typical irritation to actively pursuing a hostile confrontation anyone can 'understand' it, but it's a whole lot different from excusing it or condoning it (or taking action to restrict the rights of people that have their heads on straight to accommodate a small percentage of people that need help) General comment (I'm not accusing stayhigh of this necessarily) I think people confuse empathy with acceptance a LOT more than what's reasonable ... 12. yes - but now legal vs illegal is covered and passive sucks, but a little less than active - baby steps I suspect 99% of shop owners don't see black, white, red, brown, etc or religion, or eye color even when someone walks in. they should be seeing loyalty, income, and opportunity with every person - eventually that would reduce the passive thing too 'should'.....FWIW ... 14. I'm not very pithy at it, but I sometimes ask the person what the 4way exit looks like from the plane if you couldn't see the ground for reference - cloud cover, night..... It doesn't matter what the winds are since the system is living inside the same moving mass of air - regardless of how fast that air is moving relative to the planet But, we all like to think we can 'see' what we need. Not always. depends on what we are looking at, and where we are viewing it from. (I really did have one guy argue that a canopy is more likely to stall when landing with a tail wind vs a headwind (this during the final leg, not after touchdown). He said the wind is more likely to blow the back of the canopy over the nose while flaring.) ... 15. that's a placebo (perhaps some people 'claim' they can see if someone is tracking up the line of flight, I suppose) talking watching the angle of the group at all is part of the same misconception. watching that 'angle' is a complete waste of time based on false reasoning. So once again, and again..... two things - 1 - The AIRSPEED of the plane is the same regardless of how the uppers are blowing 2 - People leaving that plane are pretty much falling in the same airmass that the plane is flying in (for the first part of the freefall). again - regardless of how the uppers are blowing so the relative position of the plane vs the jumpers just doesn't matter - it's essentially the same 'relative' profile every time - ie., it looks the same from someone positioned on the plane. windy day, or still day - it doesn't matter what matters is the relative position of the jumpers at the end of the freefall - looking from the door at the previous exiting group doesn't give you any info on that If the DZ won't do the calculations based on the wind vs altitude profile, then you are infinitely better off ignoring the previous group and watching the ground, at least that works in the 'typical' jump run/wind direction assumptions people can watch the jumpers all you like - it gives zero useful info (unless one of them takes out the tail, then I'd recommend exiting quickly.) the mental errors in the 45 degree discussions are analogous to people that claim flying downwind will collapse a canopy more readily than flying up wind. one needs to correctly recognize the difference between groundspeed vs airspeed, and reference frames fixed to the door of a plane vs fixed to the ground ... 18. your best bet it to manufacture a back story right away pre-emptively keep a log book full of dates and times documenting her attacking and hurting you - for example, if she leaves early tomorrow for work, you write in your logbook that she attacked you with a knife at breakfast over a discussion about whether grape or strawberry jelly is better about every 3 days, call in a complaint of abuse by her to the cops - you could start with the jelly attack just suck it up and do this for a couple months and don't give her reason to attack you until then, then you should be fine going forward (I'm here to help) smileys attached for the dense or obtuse crowd - ... So what's the full story with Joe Biden appearing super creepy? Is there more to it? (Bonus points to the first person to claim that it's ok for the VP to be creepy since his party doesn't claim to be the party of religious morals. 21. I get you. But short answer - blind sided physical assault is bad. It's not optional based on gender, it's not optional based on PC social criteria. It's not optional for most any situation that isn't self defense or defense of another (from physical attack). In this school, we don't hit. and, frankly, him calling the cops instead of 'defending' himself, is the right thing to do - whether he's pond scum or an honorable guy. Actually - when attacked by either a woman or a man, the tougher the guy, the more respect he gets for calling the authorities rather than 'take it' or 'deal with it' on his own. ... 22. ISIL is pretty organized. Not sure why you wouldn think it isn't. Funny thing, that, when Clinton and Obama had the chance to quell their influence. Influence that was only really gained, to what is established now, after Benghazi and the inaction of the U.S. government. You forgot the guy who came before Obama, who managed to destroy any semblance of stability in the region, led to the deaths of hundreds of thousands of civilians in the region, all for the same of his neo-con friends.
