  1. That's a good point. However, pilot chute snags can still happen, like in this very similar incident: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dTO1PilF-Xg Great job, Irene. Heads up student. ... 5. Don't let kallend hear you say that he says the flag was racist from the start because of the "cornerstone" constitution and it being a flag that defended that, not because of the kkk poisoning it like the the nazis did the chineese symbol. I approve of both of these posts. I tend to stop with Andy's though as all that's really needed to understand why so many want the flag taken down as a PUBLIC symbol. Kallend's???? well, he just likes to argue ... Driving is a one dimensional activity - a monkey can do it - being proud of your driving abilities is like being proud of being able to put on pants
  6. thank you for that, but I won't go that far... I think a good professional is also conscious of the comfort of his customer, so I'm good with a reminder and the request......I just think that safety is higher on the priorities. So asking for it is just fine. Reminding those at the door is absolutely fine too. Complaining that it's not open NOW at some low altitude and continuing to complain - that's when we cross out of professionalism and just become whiners. (we can reference when people scream 'get out' as another example of good ways to make a horrible customer experience). If I want the "A/C" on climb up. I wait for what I consider a safe altitude. Then I call for the guy sitting there and get eye contact. Then I smile and indicate raising the door. It's totally different that shouting rudely and gets a much better response. If I'm the guy at the door and someone asks for it. I'll smile back, point at my altimeter and tell them no problem, door up at ____ Feet. Only rarely has someone shouted "do it NOW" - then they get ignored for the rest of the day. ... Bill Cosby

well put Separate thing that is sad so - if they speak up now - they MIGHT allow a few other woman to keep from being discredited..... if they had spoken up THEN - perhaps these other woman wouldn't have been raped in the first place (if BC had been in jail) ... When I start telling people they are liars for stating that they live in South Carolina or Washington DC or Germany or Greece or Texas, then you can complain. I won't complain. This forum would come to a screaming halt if you guys were to stop posting stuff that's based on ignorant and unflattering stereotypes of places and people they don't know about. 13. Though this doesn't apply as a scenario of INDIVIDUAL free speech, I don't understand. But if an individual were to voluntarily take down this flag from his private property it would be just as much an expression of intent as putting it up. This is just taking it down from a public place, conducted under due process of legislature. I don't see any issue with it. If they voted to leave it up, I wouldn't either under the same rules (South C can do whatever they like for themselves and it's not my business either way) But it certainly has nothing to do with the government protecting the right of individuals to say what they wish. As for the US Flag - douchebags do things to it because they are idiots that can't express anything. But if they own their own flag, they can do as they like. What they can't do is do that to another's flag, or to publicly owned flags without permission of the owner - that's the line they can't cross. ... 14. open door is a hazard - pilot chute can escape, someone can fall out or have to bail out, so treating it cavalierly is a bit silly another posted a policy of 1500 something worth considering I guess a couple things: 1 - no reason to open the door unless one is comfortable exiting. I don't care if the staff is getting hot. I don't open the door until I am also comfy if I have to exit for any reason. Let's call that 2000 grand? But then absolutely let's open it then. (just not lower). I guess emergency bailout on reserve is also fine, so call it 1500 or 1000 if one likes, but that takes away margin if multiple people would have to leave - I prefer out on the main canopy defining my comfy zone for 'air conditioning' instead of a policy that ensures only 1 or 2 people get to survive a worst case scenario (pilot escapes, body rips off tail of plane). 2 - no reason to take off seatbelts for the same reason 3 - no reason to open the door until those near the door are unbuckled. So once you hit that critical altitude, check that those near the door are unbuckled, then open the door.... the rest of the plane can do what they want. 'cracking the door' to cool off the airplane - seriously......so there is room for a pilot chute to escape but not a body.....please ... 16. So what about the "good guy with a gun" theory? I guess that didn't work. what an odd statement - you are advocating that good guys only get guns to go out and stop crime? I don't agree with that at all. The fact that those with illegal guns are shooting each other certainly has nothing to do with citizens responsibly and legally owning private property like guns. The lack of logic in politics is amazing - it's kind of like changing the oil in you car because the neighbor's dog barks too much. ... 17. Frankly, I agree with you in part. That absolutely is what's dividing the extremists on both ends from each other. One group wants to control how we all think from PC crap, the other group wants to control how we all think from biblical crap. No thanks to either, I can think for myself. Perhaps those two 10% groups need to get together and join forces and start a country where one can't even sneeze without permission. Told You So....

Who cares - if the government wasn't in the business of 'marriage' we wouldn't have any of these problems in the first place. People could pair off (triple up, whatever) any way they like and it wouldn't have any 'default' legal perceived benefits that people feel they have to fight for. Benefits, arrangements, etc could be covered by individual, voluntary contracts between consenting individuals. Between individuals and their employers (for benefits). etc marriage is about pairing up - this society was supposed to be about individuals ... 20. I don't feel that it is nitpicking because I feel he has chosen to draw attention to his old tax returns by posting them online and boasting that he's posted more tax returns than any other prior presidential candidate. Why would he have posted them if he didn't want people to look at them and ask questions? I'd probably worry more about those that refuse (or are initially reluctant) to post their returns on line than the guys that volunteer to do it. ... 21. 1 - I doubt most welfare recipient tax returns show any interest income 2 - if Jeb invests correctly, it's likely most (all) of his income is dividend and other types of income other than interest. likely checking accounts are not interest accumulating, and that $4.57 is exactly what you think it is, it's the Minimum deposit required to open that savings account required to bank at a single location, probably for the purpose of being able to establish the (non-interest bearing) checking account for small transactions. ... 22. Stop that, I'm trying to oversimplify here dammit. (my bias is that I consider Churches to just be another money making endeavor, and maybe just a simple charitable organization as well - 'Church' does not equal "religion", or "faith" IMHO so the protections that individuals ("individuals" is a big thing in my politics) get shouldn't necessarily be applied to some conglomerate that claims to service people's faiths. But then I need to be consistent and then also state the same then for charities, etc.....) ... 23. I'd like to see tax exempt status be removed from all, along with the ability to deduct charitable contributions. That would remove the ability of government to apply such pressure. Yes - this. It's silly to tax exempt anything that collects revenue. Keep gov out of religion, out of charities, out political 'action' groups, etc. They should run as is under simple rules that apply to anything. ... 24. So Greece owes roughly 30k per-capita. I believe the US is at about $39k If Greece actually tried enforcing and collecting taxes they could probably pull through this. If they really need money they could probably sell off some assets. I've got cash and I wouldn't mind a place on the Aegean. So actually, the US is a little microcosm of Greece, not the other way around. Or.....The US is actually deeper in the quicksand than Greece is - but our critical mass is a lot bigger before we implode. (and as always with implosive materials of even higher critical mass) and the comment that all is needed is to enforce and collect more taxes as a fix, or selling off critical assets to fix it.....(vs changing spending and borrowing behavior instead vs BOTH) is a telling observation ... 25. five or six threads I've read this morning and you've been spot on the entire time on multiple topics frankly, we all complain about the executive legislating inappropriately via exec orders, and we all complain about the judicial legislating from the bench (well.....if we disagree with the topic at least. no one cares about correct and legal process if they get what they want)... but we should be complaining about a Legislature that appears to only care about fluff legislation while hiding like little scaredy kittens from real issues, posing and picking at each other, and ALLOWING the other branches to do their work for them Both houses, and BOTH parties, of Congress should be outraged at the hijack of their powers by the other two branches. they need to pick up the reins they've dropped and get to work and reestablish their sphere of responsibilities. Instead, all they do is 'comment' (praise or complain) about the results of the hijack - they've turned into powerless commentators - impotent pundits and hollow figureheads isn't it time for Congress to pass a "law" naming a library or something? ...
