I think religion is nuts also. But I feel much more strongly about protecting people's rights to choose what they believe in from positions like the one above. You are actually advocating indoctrinating children in beliefs contrary to their parents' wishes. I find that abhorrent. ... 25-30 hours belly/mantis/coaching the same (probably about 20 minutes bootie flying in there too) - 4-way was the first camp (hour 2) 12 minutes sit (1 minute to demo backflying, 11 minutes of sit - basics moves, carving, vertical drills, front flips) now I want more - of both ... U.S. Senate Votes Formal Apology for Slavery
rehmwa replied to dreamdancer's topic in Speakers Corner
I think you just made the point of the thread. The Senate's action is pointless. Regardless of how any of us perceive today's social position on the subject. In fact, you just made the point for immigration, gun laws, and a whole host of topics. ... Whatever buzz word one wants to use (such as racist or whatever) the photo is idiotic and it didn't make me laugh - I'm not sure why someone would laugh it for that matter about as funny as one of Whoopie Goldberg's standup routines (i.e., not funny) Edit: digression, just saw a rerun of a Comedy Relief show, the contrast between Robin Williams/Billy Crystal and then Whoopie is just so amazing - how anyone can think she is funny just amazes me ... He's just big boned. (there were 3 pretty big guys on the 2nd attempt and no problem that time with the higher airspeed) another hint for jumpers is to practice and expect a brisk climbout and count - the inside people need to be ready, floaters really do need to understand the best way to climb out (step out sideways facing the front - I really hate the BIG TURN some do (example - left door, face the rear and rotate CCW through the door and the others to end up facing forward....), it puts hackeys in jeopardy, pushes on the outside people, and takes longer especially if anyone other than the first couple out does it.) ... Thanks, Dave - I'm always a bit leary of threads like these, they tend to degenerate quickly this is an interesting point, since the door of the PAC is so small (vs an Otter) I like to have the floater across from the inside rear (for an 8 way chunk) hang away from the plane to let that inside rear get their shoulders out to make room for the other inside people (always hard to get them to line up correctly anyway) - this is a conflict to protecting the flow around the rear low stabilizer - should be small unless we have too many huge skydivers best solution, only use small skydivers ... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prisoner%27s_dilemma I like scenarios - but the whole pitch to the thing assumes neither would just choose to tell the truth. Assumes neither prisoner has a lawyer to tell them the case against them is insubstantial, etc. anyway - "how should the defendants act?" I'd say don't break the law in the first place. I'd say the real moral issue in the scenario is the cops lying to the prisoners - that's the discussion topic. ... fine, my take on it is 'spin' while yours is just your 'point' (all I did was disagree and offer an alternative) Speaking of presidential candidates... Who's the lawyer on the left that played on his wife's sickness so much? Kennedy looking guy...the lawyer...? Doesn't matter, I'm sure his motivations were absolutely perfectly non-political due to the (D) next to his name. It's not like he'd make campaign hay out of his wife's sickness and then cheat on her or anything. crap, what is his name? ... Since you weren't actually on site, best you 'know' some details: 1 - the pilot. If he were to choose to be on site here, he can address that himself. I think he did a very good job both in handling the stall, and making a change after to avoid it again 2 - the jumpers. as noted, we let the pilot know of the load size before boarding ... Dave - you nailed all the key points, can't figure out your tone though..... You have about 3 'shoulds' here for the organizer, all were done prior to the jump other than we had one more person out. You have a couple "shoulds" for the pilot - those were ID'd in the post brief and they worked fine for the rest of the boogie. I was the organizer: 1 - line up was equivalent to an 8-way chunk + camera, something we've done on our local PAC repeatedly with no issues 2 - the other 4 jumpers were to line up forward (to the front of the plane, but in the aisle) and be ready to move on set 3 - the pilot was informed prior to the jump (I did it personally) that this was a single group with a big climbout. As the plane was also turning all day, he had a lot of other stuff to process through the day. I believe on this load, he followed the procedure on this jump that the owner gave him for all the jumps runs. 4 - We had a few very heavy jumpers outside - I'd line them up differently for more margin if I were to do it again (despite the below corrections). 3 were particularly big guys. 5 - typical stall, very nose high and then rolled to port - the pilot handled the stall perfectly 6 - the pilot came to the ground and was only interested in how the plane was configured and how he could fly that type of lineup better - a super professional guy and he and the jumpers were very good about lessons learned. He reviewed it with myself and the pilot of our group (jump pilot also) and all agreed that more speed is the key on this situation. I decided to adjust the lineup as well going forward to help on 9+ groups, but the other two thought that wasn't necessary - though appreciated 7 - later jumps - with the correction had absolutely no issues, and the 'feel' of the jump run was that the tail was absolutely locked 'up' on jump run despite any combo of 'beef' on the loads. FYI - I'll check in here and answer any questions as long as people stay courteous. ... There's better ways to build a suit to slow you down than 'features' like swoop cords and wings, etc. Biggest booties, biggest grippers, loose fit is fine - flapping fit is not. Clearly, the dems would NEVER have found out about it on their own and played it for all it was worth.... (or the press......) Odd point - it seemed to be disclosure and damage control more than anything.
