  1. This is nearly exactly what our pilot does (my rough opinion on how the plane feels on jump run - clearly low nose, medium speed, and yes, he also adjusts as the plane empties) and we've never had an issue with any size group. We were putting 8way chunks + vid off this Sunday and it's flawless and there is not much kick even for those in the plane. Of course, our pilot is one of the best I've had the fortune to fly with. When we inform him of the group size and climb out, he just smiles confidently and does it perfect. We need to tell him that more often..... ... 2. I keep seeing the term "baggy" - this is the worst thing in the long run. ----but they have no other choice. You certainly will have a lot of options When you research suits for fast fallers (though it is likely at your proportions that you'll need a regular fit RW suit once you get comfortable) - avoid a super loose (baggy) fit. Comfy fit only, what you need are the biggest comp booties, and large grippers (the full set), and, likely regular forearms instead of spandex. Baggy = flapping = not good for flyability Only the absolutely huge have to resort to super loose fits and other 'gimmicks' and those usually end up hurting their flying in the long run. We've built a few suits for extra big guys, and the simple features and a little advice were all they really needed. if you were 265 and 6 feet tall or under, then we might have a different discussion get simple coveralls, or just pants and a good long sleeve shirt or sweat shirt for a while. You want to buy the custom build suit, but not until you get comfortably in the air and relax to what will be much closer to your true fall rate. (It seems odd, but I think over half of our students that have issues in their first 20 jumps with fall rate, eventually end up normal, or even on the other end of the spectrum within 100 jumps - so anyone pushing a jumpsuit on you right now, is just trying to sell you two suits - one now, and then later the one you really need) ... 3. still no disagreement, but the bit about "clearly unjust" can be very subjective - look at any subject in these forums for reference the part about "the ability or process of revoking the law is not expedient" isn't a good assumption when people don't actually do anything but gripe to their friends. It's even worse when there is a process in place and people just 'assume' the process is broken - that's typical of the lazy, they don't even try before they quit ... 5. Having unjust laws, enforcing unjust laws, and having unenforceable laws makes a mockery of law. I agree with the 3rd point - it's my point exactly. As for the other two points (unjust and enforcing unjust laws) - it is not up to law enforcement what to enforce and what not to enforce. Enforcement and law making, by necessity, must be separate entities. So I can't agree with the first two parts. Only if we enforce all laws, do we have the feedback process in place to keep those that make sense, and remove those that don't. It would certainly behoove government to reduce the total load to eliminate all subjective laws, then. Else each of us decides individually what we think is "unjust" laws. If it's 'unjust', and on the books, and it's enforced, then I bet we'd see more direct action to get that law off the books. If it's 'unjust, and on the books and law ignores it, then it stays on the books. I'm talking end game for society, not just the most expedient thing for a couple guys wanting to gratify an urge. ... 6. the ethics and effect "TRUE" CD..... damn straight, Andy - it's a very strong tool for the people. but those that falsely claim CD to glorify their self gratification are hypocrits (smoking dope for "freedom from an oppressive government", speeding to make a "statement", drive solo in the car pool lanes because they are "unjust") ... 7. and this extremely passive (lazy, or less severe, at least risk adverse/nonownership) approach to doing the right thing is terrible for society and overloads us with archaic and stupid laws - or excessive redundant versions of similar laws if you don't care enough to confront the issue head on, then it's not a matter of doing the right thing, it's just someone wanting their lolly pop. If the law is worth having, then it's worth being enforced. If the law should not exist, then the best interest to society is to delete it. Having laws that are not enforced makes a mockery of law. Edit: ignoring the law is just self serving, you get your kick, but the hell with the rest of society. going after the law itself shows personal onwership in the shape of law and society. ... 8. I agree. This is my point. Participate in the process to fix the law. Don't just create an atmosphere where you ignore it. But I'd go farther - Wendy notes that you should have 'full knowledge that work is ongoing to fix the law" "Knowing" someone else is trying to fix the law is bogus and harmful. "participating" in the fix is productive and necessary. if your civil disobedience is not actively a PART of the work to fix a bad law, then all you are doing is picking and choosing which laws to follow. that hinders the enforcement of those laws you do think are needed. ... 9. You are not really out of a bad range. A tunnel camp to specifically work fall rate control (both faster and slower is a better fit right now). Here's the issue with a typical slow suit - all these gimmicks are added that make the suit hard to fy. If the suit is really loose, that flapping material will also push you around - just when you are trying to learn to control your self. It's like trying to stand on one foot and having people push you randomly. My wife makes a big guy suit that tries to avoid those pitfalls, but I wouldn't recommend you get one just yet. Learning to fly better up front is better for you now. Do a search on jumpsuits and fast fall and you can see what I and others think (rigging and RW forums mainly). But also do a search on fall rate body positions and you'll get good input too. Seriously, consider going to the tunnel. Fleet Farm sells coveralls - you'll have to go used - which is also a good idea right now until you figure out how your are "really" going to fall ... 10. this is really confusing 1 - don't prosecute the prescription users of the stuff? okay, makes sense or 2 - don't prosecute ANY user in those states that have a medical use criteria - including the non-medical users? that's really contrived, it's illegal, but don't prosecute? which is it? someone smoking only hurts me with the 2nd hand exposure and sometimes them being idiots. no biggie, we can handlle that. - but please move your damn camper to the other side of the camper grounds away from the area where all the families put there campers in the first place to move away from the original dopers. It stinks up the whole area. someone casually breaking the law and not thinking it's big deal (any law) hurts society as a whole - so I'm all for people trying to get the law changed through legal means, but in the meantime, they should follow the law. it's pretty simple - work to get the law changed, vs break it, but do nothing but bitch - the first helps society, the second is laziness ... 11. I've done one team CRW jump out of a Pac and we went back to the Otter immediately. 14. once again, do you people realize for which kind of skydiving it was designed ? It was designed for the flight pattern and frequent cycling. As for which kind of skydiving? I'd say it's most compatible in this order: 1 - getting a lot of tandems out during a day - effective 2 - cycling AFF jumps - effective 3 - 4 ways or smaller - reasonable (exits for Freeflying might need to be adjusted to avoid striking the elevators - small door and offset steps will affect 4way RW exits too 4 - medium ways (5w - 15) - not effective, doable, but not a good match 5 - CrW and other uses of hop and pops - meh 6 - wing suits - scary exits if you're new at it - not compatible 7 - bigger ways (16+, etc) - not a match How'd I do? Exit: for all the commentary, I LIKE this plane. I just think people need to be very aware of the wing and horizontal stabilizer location, and also about weight disty issues of course ... 15. I don't think that's needed for only two divers. But for 3, you have to get one persons shoulders out completely, even for smaller divers. yup, at least the rear inside person has to so that one can practice a chunk exit like on an otter design=smaller door, low horizontal stabilizer I wonder if any experienced skydivers at all were asked to comment during the development of a plane advertised as "designed for skydiving" ... 19. So you prefer places where you don't have to be respectful to others? for some, that's pretty much the definition of fun for them as for it being an 'adult playground', nonsense, it's just a hobby like any other thing, the environment is what it is. I guess if someone likes tennis, they should insist on THAT being an adult playground, too. It's a pretty consistent theme where jumpers constantly confuse the DZ with a boogie. So far, every single person that's had that attitude has done a complete 180 the second they had kids. Especially the ones that were REALLY emphatic about it. That's consistent, because both before and after the change, their position was the selfish one. And, also consistent with that, they were the ones with the unsupervised kids in their "stage 2" time. If someone can't be respectful of others, I prefer they walk with their feet too. ... Single users in SUVs (breaking the law), and Mom's in minivans with a single child in back (who would not be driving separately anyway). as usual - the law may be well intentioned, but in practice it causes more harm than good ... 25. bikini tops? That's over the top. Regardless of where people jump or stated target atmosphere of the DZO for his operation, I've found "most" skydivers to be decent around kids. Those that weren't were more childish than the kids themselves. When people define 'blowing off steam' as doing stuff targetted to disrespect others, then they need to grow up and figure out how to have fun for real. Because that's just juvenile postering anyway. Kids at the DZ? no problem. But they absolutely need their parents to be 'parents' the whole time. They absolutely need a bedtime enforced. In otherwords, if you bring your kids to the DZ, you can't be the jackass. You have to protect your kids FROM the jackasses. Because there is always a jackass at the DZ that just doesn't get it. And he's also the same one annoying the adults too. ...
