there's only one way to find out 1 - first, gather a doobie. There's a few of them, they smile a lot and sing and have long hair. 2 - place him in front of your high beams and see if he catches on fire ... I agree, so why are so many cars and motorcycle equipped with poorly adjusted headlights? If you get flashed enough times, I'd think one would change the angle of the light to the correct setting. BUT, admit it, you LIKE to get flashed because you consider that "being seen" rather than you blinding the other guy. right? ... I hope you have taken into consideration that bright-ass headlights can, and do, blind oncoming drivers...regardless of the type of vehicle they are driving. I have. That's why I've never used them. They're rude & dangerous. Your tone is surprising me here, Pops. Do you have a problem w/motorcyclists? I have a problem with overbright lights regardless of the vehicle. The issue is inattentive drivers, unpredictable drivers, speeders, etc ... This negligence can kill anyone, not just bikers. You should see the laziness up here for about 1 in 20 drivers in not clearing their snow off their cars. Tuesday, I passed one driver that had about a foot and a half of snow piled on their car and only a slit in the front window and driver's window to see. (you still see about anyone represented, but kids, and moms seem to dominate the samples I see) He was on the interstate. ... The cutaway cables to length? This isn't about getting the length correct. It IS about making the physical cuts themselves. Do I need to seal the ends or anything? Or just cut with a wire stripper and be done..... edit: nevermind, I did a search and still have the rig manual and have a good rigger if that doesn't cut the mustard ... If there had been a draft (more participants, fewer spectators), perhaps more people would have been more vested in the latest conflicts and we'd have had more pressure to end them earlier and bring everyone home. Perhaps the war opposition would have been more intelligent and less flaky in the opposition and made more convincing arguments. perhaps...... - it's amazing what happens when the citizenry is more involved in the ownership and protection of their country still - I'm preferential to all volunteer myself. But it's not a cut and dry proposition at all - there are serious benefits to a draft in terms of defense of course, but also in terms of creating better citizens. ... What do you consider stupid about that saying? I find it stupid - because usually when someones says "open your mind" it's because that person is being closed minded and wants everyone else to blindly accept their position. the statement isn't the problem, though, just the ones using it ... Once again proving the inadequacy of the metric system!
rehmwa replied to quade's topic in Speakers Corner
I know the answer! Who the fuck cares! Only 1 of us in this thread does! How'd I do, prof? We had this run a long time ago. Almost all measurements can be broken down into component length, time, and mass expressions (pressure is mass per length per square time; power is mass length squared per second cubed or something like that; etc) but imperial is missing the new guys on the block - both are field type of base metrics that don't conveniently break down into the other three like above (or at least I don't see any easy way to do it so far). So Imperial would have to invent those to complete the full set. but why do that when they already are in use in metric and it's more important now as we play more in magnetics and gravity (electric stuff still seems to break down into the base 3 for most stuff) I'm sure the prof will correct this for accuracy, but that's the gist as I understand it edit: Base units per wiki time, length, mass, temperature, electric current and light intensity ... SCOTUS Allows Westboro Church to Protest Funerals
rehmwa replied to Andy9o8's topic in Speakers Corner
"Unfortunately"?????? FORTUNATELY - The SCOTUS decision upheld the constitution. We still have the occasional decision that follows the process. no matter how terrible the specific scenario - they stuck with the law in terms of free speech anyway. Especially while all 3 branch seem to just be pissing on the constitution just to express pandering to public opinion. What I don't get is Alito's dissent. How can a Supreme Court Justice not uphold the constitution? Is he running for the legislature later? (rationalization does NOT equal interpretation) I hate what Phelp$ Co is doing, but you can't take rights from citizens. Some other accommodation needs to happen to deal with this scum, ignoring the constitution isn't the way to do it. The PGR response is hopefully legal and effective - more power to them to succeed. ... I read that and thought - "no shit" and they wasted time and money polling people to find out they don't want "their" funding cut from the big anonomous piggy bank. I hate to ask it, but if it's multiple students and the only common factor is you: are you drifting upon letting go (video would tell) you could drift left, or release arm before leg, or many things, it's harmless, stick with them: are you holding them in such a way that it makes them turn that way when you let go (how light are you gripping just prior to letting go, are you pushing down on an arm but not a leg, etc): other than that....what they said - most don't drift, a few tend to back up - you can usually see that in their body position before release and sometimes you just can't get them perfectly trimmed and you should let go anyway and trust your skill - they gotta learn. anyway, a light drift on release isn't the end of the world. That's why we teach finding heading and small corrections and turns. Nothing to really retrain on your student if they control the drift after the first bit, just review and practice. ...
