  1. except now they have cars that will pull you back into your lane if you drift, and will stop hard to avoid rear-ending another car. Hell, I bet you could take a nap on a long road......I mean, why not? the computer on the car will take care of you. ... 3. I knew some of the people on that bridge and they were not at all happy about the proximity. Of course no one had any idea of what he was going to try. It's really rare to find the combination of BOTH daredevil and preparedness/planning skills. Usually, it's just idiots with little regard, it seems. ... 7. You are at a boogie and get on a nice little 3 way FF with two old jumping buddies. They aren't really current and only come to the boogie. They've been drinking all morning. You only see and jump with them once a year at the boogie. Your skill set is ok to keep tracking of even two of the worst zoomers out there. What the hell - good smiles and a zoo dive. 3 more friends of the same ilk walk up and want to join. NO PROBLEM - it's a BOOGIE - whoo hoo, whoo hoo, all 5 have go pros by the way of course and are current with their 2 basejumps last month and actually 3 freefall jumps about 6 months ago. Choices - 1 - I pull out of the dive, this is ridiculous 2 - I stay on the dive, it's crazy, but I have an AAD I bet half the people here have seen this exact scenario time and again at the harder party boogies..... I've seen people choose option 2 sadly enough. More times than I'm comfortably thinking about. This is the discussion, and all these straw man arguments that pointing out this type of attitude equates to being anti-AAD is idiotic. ... 8. wings sounds like a bad idea, but sometimes dramatic body sizes require dramatic efforts. when my wife builds a FF suit for Bigger guys - these are the features 1 - highest drag material she has 2 - double and triple layers (preferred over just looser) - especially on the extremities - this can be done in conjunction with patterns and designs too. 3 - still a looser fit (though this hurts your flying ability so this is the last input after maximizing those first two) This has been very effective. I'm always a believer in the pilot (FF and RW and etc) having more control whereas suit building is minor compared to flying abilities. But in some cases, every little bit helps. ... 14. Immediately start a public health campaign to inform people to concentrate their diets on proteins (and natural fats) and complex carbs over simple carbs and simple sugars. "Poop shouldn't float - eat healthy" it's catchy, especially put to music and THAT, sir, is called efficiency when you solve two problems with one action edit: an easier alternative is to take the one richest guy in town and take away everything he owns and start building homes for anyone making less than $60k/year - there's still poop, but you get a lot of votes next election - the now poor guy can get a job with a strainer and a bucket working for the city edit edit: or use the money to just move everyone en masse to a new reservoir seriously, doesn't anyone else here have great ideas like these, I'm carrying the entire load right now ... 15. Wouldn't you rather they figured it out BEFORE the benefits run out? 8 per job 1 gets the job leaving 7 now, if one of those starts up his own business and hires 3, that leaves 3 unemployed. but now we have 5 people gainfully employed, so the service industry (bars, restaurants, grocery stores, etc) will need another, that leaves 2 unemployed One can now move back home to norway, since she's here illegally anyway, that leaves 1 unemployed he can surf discussion forums all day and whine about society and how the other 7 sold out and went to work instead of lobbying to extend his benefits indefinitely. glad to help, remember to tip your servers. ... 17. I'm good with the part I cut, TK, thanks. I don't agree with the part "more for ......" we can't afford it even with cuts to the military (which I also agree to). and itemize my tax bill for the 'Big 3?' (military, social sec, medi(cade/care)) and education? absolutely - let the taxpayers know where the beef is. 1 - Everybody will have to pay more to start to pay off the debt - right now, we can't even break even. But, I can't ask the entire tax base to even start to pay more unless the government proves to us they will be responsible. That means they have to cut everything - even the stuff I like and even the stuff you like. 2 - If they are unwilling (i write "unwilling" on purpose, it's not even close to "unable") to show simple 'control' of their spending, how can you ask those that currently pay nothing to start paying again? 3 - And why wouldn't that attitude be applicable to everybody that also pays something every year - even us moderately "doing ok" or even the 'rich' (whatever that means)? I can't handle the "take more and now spend that extra over here", or the "cut these programs and then spend it on my favorites" philosophies - it doesn't work - tried it already several times. The government has to cut significantly to show they can balance the budget with what they are already taking. And they have to maintain that for a few years. Once they show they are responsible to at least hold the line? Then raise taxes so we can start regaining ground - MAYBE we can trust them enough to have a buffer that pays off the debt, then. Everybody's debt, everybody pays something. ... Driving is a one dimensional activity - a monkey can do it - being proud of your driving abilities is like being proud of being able to put on pants
  18. any kind of aad on a main sounds completely idiotic If the student isn't prepared to pull their own main on a freefall jump, then they need more PRCPs (static line), or more ground training (AFF). (I trained Static Line and teach AFF - not the best qualifications, but hopefully enough to have an opinion) Edit: why are so many questions lately about more and more nannying, and more and more conservative approaches to students? rather than appropriate and complete training and a philosophy of making sure the student is capable from training and responsible for their own lives. Just to be clear - I do NOT want to see new grads: 1 - too scared to pull between 3k and 4k 2 - complacent about pulling their own main (or any other handles) 3 - unable to spot, unable to pack 4 - scared to exit below 3k, or 8K, or 13K 5 - scared of cessnas 6 - more I don't want to see this, but I'm seeing this more and more It's a VERY disturbing trend. We need to train better and instill confidence, not add a bunch of gadgets and idiotic restrictions to cover the idiots and the meek. ... 24. Go ahead - feel free to disregard the rest of the post and the questions and ignore the examples that you have failed to provide........ Your biz is the real life example. Does it not get better than that? So no, not until you cease to disregard the initial point. Really simple - people don't make more, you pass on your tax increase, they continue to skydive anyway. Do they have less expendable income or not as an indirect result of you being taxed more? Do they buy an many clothes? Do they eat at the same level? What about that restaurant that lost business too - is it in a distant city so it doesn't get the benefit of your biz bringing in more customers? You are that rich business owner - you said you pass the cost on to your customers. And you advocate taxing people like yourself more to "help the people". Why are you taking offense, then, when the observation I make is pretty apparent? I get that business is a competition, I agree that you taking revenue from other businesses because your product is in high demand is perfectly appropriate. But you can't say that when the government takes more (but doesn't also spend less) doesn't hurt everyone regardless of who they take it from. If you prefer that the real life example is someone other than yourself (in order for you to respond without taking it personally, switch the company name, I don't care, the concept remains). ...
