Yeah - the Ikelights are REALLY expensive. But then High end underwater photography is very expensive anyway. I was thinking more along the lines of the simple Canon Camera (point and shoot digitals from the SD1000 to something you see at the DZ like a G10 and the cases you buy for those). Cases less than $200 will descend to 140 feet or more to protect cameras costing from $200 to $600. Recreational SCUBA photography, not professional. (even so, I wouldn't go with Ikelites anyway - too much $$) ... If you also SCUBA, you might consider getting a good camera, and then also the waterproof case that goes with it. But these cases aren't necessarily cheap. ... Our DZ seems to prefer the G10's. I'm setting up my rig right now with the help of a friend and the last bit is the still camera (tongue switch, and etcs for the still). G10's are getting a bit harder to find at a decent price - I'm wondering about the G12 - newer version of the G10/11 - like the 11, it has to fold out screen to deal with. any experience out there? Is it all around comparable except as a newer version? I'm brand new to camera (or old time, last vids I did were with VHS on the rack SEVERAL years ago) - don't plan to attach the still until I get quite a few jumps with the camcorder (CX100) - but I'm shopping now anyway. thanks ... Nicely put. I don't care one way or the other, but just because someone doesn't feel exactly the same way I do on this subject doesn't mean they don't have a good reason of their own, or another viewpoint. I won't just automatically assume that someone that disagrees with me is a throwback to caveman times. that response is reserved for Speaker's Corner ... Go to an internet forum and ask a bunch of strangers what to do about a highly subjective and situational condition that's best fixed with the help of your instructors at the DZ or even within yourself. You're not a damn in the river....you're a tree in the wind. Make eye contact with your instructors and choose to breathe and relax. And when you practice, visualize yourself as relaxed and in control - DON'T think about NOT relaxing. Don't think about pink elephants. ... How many... would never vote for someone like him because he is black, that is the far more sailient question. I'd say both positions are clearly racist and equally salient - I can't really tell the difference - racism = racism from both directions. we can only hope those voters cancel each other out and the rest of us can recognize them for who they are So you are saying that for you to vote for a white man is racist because you have always voted for a white man??? That's an odd take on the comment. Where are trying to twist this? No, if someone votes for a person SOLELY due to race or gender (or eye color or anything cosmetic) is dispicable and ridiculously lazy. ... this is about as close to my opinion that I can see he's not responsible for killing anyone - but he is responsible for the incitement - and, worse, he had to be sure this would be the result (I doubt he gave the extremists the 'benefit of the doubt' that they'd take the 'sticks and stones' approach to his demonstration) Dekker's note (or close to it) - "he's not directly or criminally responsible in any way, but he's morally irresponsible" he's a jackass - but the murderers are....murderers ... Ab Ripper is a great ab workout. But P90X is sadly deficient in working the lower back. Other than that it's fantastic for general lean fitness and lower back can be added to the two back days pretty easily. And any of the trendy fitness programs do the job too - what have we seen now just in this thread? Crossfit, kettlebells, yoga, (I also like the rolls noted for the Sydney trainer) it's all just about commitment and variety in the end sounds like just more practice is needed ... thank goodness for this clarification - the OP's description sounded like a pass to me (failing to extend the legs all the way isn't necessarily a fail if the student demonstrated some level of leg awareness and ability to adjust, I'd think - even if not absolutely perfect) so very confused about the result (now I see the whole picture with the descriptions - maintaining a correction is important also - I don't want to let go if the student is chronically with legs on butt - sometimes you do and trust in ability to chase them down so they can learn, but trimming them out is SO preferably) To the OP - not pulling at altitude is a required redo no matter what level we're on - super important - congrats on attempting - next time actually do it... doesn't much matter if you call it a 'fail' or an 'opportunity' or whatever - what matters is that you take the best learning that you can from it and practice doing it correctly (don't dwell on the mistakes - mental training requires reinforcing the positives). have fun, work with your instructors and do it again. tunnel is great - if you invest in tunnel time - get coaching and about a half hour of time - with that, you'll pass all the freefall stuff easily so you can focus more on altitude awareness, gear stuff, and canopy control - but you don't NEED it, students passed and learned long before there were tunnels. Your instructor is now on this thread - don't you think airing it out in the forums is the wrong thing to do when a good instructor has to respond here instead of with you in person? ... "long and flat is where it's at" beach ball is for old timers that refuse to learn new techniques imo as for "failing" during learning - it's not easy for every single person on every single jump - key is to take the best of each jump and learn those lessons and then to go do it again ...
