that's a good reason also - though frankly, your 'reasons' shouldn't matter at all - just whether you and the other person are ready for it - if the tunnel attendant cares what your reasons are, I'd ask for someone who's less of a busybody show you have the ability to do it, and you'll get to once your buddy is ready ... At least I spelled it correctly.... But, only after I looked it up, too ok - I looked up Euphemistic and understand. yes - I was softpeddling my vocabulary there. skydivers would "try to date the crack dealer's daughter" ... Next thing you know, Obama is going to be taxing that activity, requiring the patron to be of certain age (hopefully off his parents insurance), and the proprietor to have multiple licenses. NONSENSE - Obama wouldn't do that any more than he'd add a special tax for something like....say.....tanning businesses ... For that matter, until we do drop regulations a LOT, then my full body enviro-condom business is just making a tiny profit from paranoid granola crunchers and some OSHA executives. It could make so much more....... ... Driving is a one dimensional activity - a monkey can do it - being proud of your driving abilities is like being proud of being able to put on pants

If a little regulation is good, then more is better. and if more is better, then extremely more is better - there are agencies that justify their existence this way then if you back off just a little bit - the world will end and grampa will literally dissolve just by standing in open air without his full body condom. do you want that?!! HUH??!! do you hate grampa THAT MUCH??? do you love corporate profits and hate grampa that much????!!! I can't even look at you right now ... Just acknowledging that one has a position (a "faith") one way or the other and tolerating that others might have different subjective positions...... that's crazy - with that attitude, we wouldn't even have an angry and contentious Speaker's Corner ... I wouldn't get in a huff. I usually ask if they know where it was or have any names. It's possible this might be info I want to know. All they know is they read a sensational story, and that you are a skydiver. Maybe they want to understand. Likely they aren't idiots at all, they just don't jump. They are probably speechless if you're being an ass to them. I think the rest is in your head. If not, well, then they are smug, know-it-all, assholes that get off on putting down your favorite sport. If so, I'd hang out with other people. ... except for one thing - you started this comparative tangent in a reply to the way each group cleaned up after themselves. (Not that organized groups tend to argue over different areas they find unnecessary - which is a non-starter as most here agree with that premise.) so are they "quite similar" in terms of public defecation and respect for other people's properties? (as individuals, or as a generalize group, or as a stereotype of the generalized group - pick whichever one makes you most comfortable and answer from that assumption). What do think would happen in the following scenario? Tea Partiers are in town protesting whatever it is they are protesting about and occupy a busy street. A shopkeeper asks them to clear out in front of his shop so he can put up his fruit stand. In the next town, the WS protest group has the exact same scenario. Which group do you think will: 1 - clear out - maybe apologize and help a little 2 - ignore the shopkeeper 3 - pitch a tent in front of the store 4 - steal fruit 5 - shit in the shopkeeper's mailbox edit: we already know that a group of skydivers will actually accomplish all 5 acts simultaneously as well as try to date the shopkeeper's daughter ... congratulations - you just took the word censorship and, by pissing and moaning about the definition of it rather than talking about the content of the thread - you've pretty much made the word completely pointless now - we can return to why Disney's choice is shortsighted, stupid and blind. Got to agree with that one re: billvon. I don't think Billvon is that much of a generalist. i think he did it at first to just to contrast a set of blatant stereotypes about lefties by doing it to a group of righties. no one got the point, and now it's just a fun habit to randomly poke in there (all the time) ... If he would have labeled everyone Neo-Cons or Nazis, I'd say Lucky. The terminology used says even money that it is Dreamdancer. it definitely reads like DD - he has that 'thing' about what's 'facism' and what's 'other'. and the smug/ignorant delivery only a true convert can deliver plus, he'd be all over this post - unless he's a bot. on the plus side - no cut and paste from wacked out websites I still believe the HairyJuan-bot, Lucky, and DD are the same person ... Faster fall rate techniques help a lot too. From a boxman, your only option is to arch harder which doesn't do a damn thing in making your cross section seen by the relative wind any smaller. Take a mantis camp - fast fall rate - equals narrow and small and you get a LOT more range from just flying your body. You get the small benefit from the rounder arch, PLUS you have more options in making yourself smaller to the wind. That said, that's a big difference in weight and form for flying with your friend. Just work your way up to the higher lead. vests suck, they pitch you down. a good belt is a great. ... I think they are right. Disney can't really 'censor' themselves. Censorship is when one party does it to another, not so much as to themselves, calling it (self) censorship in that case is more tongue in cheek. That doesn't mean this isn't really stupid, idiotic and just plain wrong, it just isn't censorship. Disney are idiots here. But it's their property and they can do what they want in a country of individuals and personal property rights (as least so far). This not analogous to Footloose (censorship) - it's more analogous to some idiot buying a flag and then burning it. ... That's not the analogy I was stating - you're a bit obtuse on purpose at times, John. But at least you could tack on a personal insult to Butters in the same post. I'm talking about smooth airflow. RW big and loose and weighted - when one could fly a better fit seems to me to be analogous to WS flying with your legs bent up when one could also make better choices and fly it cleaner and faster I"m not taking sides, just trying to answer the analogy question = but you could actually read my comment as supportive of you wearing weights to allow you to fly all out instead sacrificing body position to match fall rate (that read would be true). ... that is analogous (to the other note - some old timers, or newbies, or non-competitive types will buy a loose suit - for comfort - and then weight up........sucks for them to have too big a suit....) aerodynamics come first - in RW, that would faster fall rate and cleaner lines. I suspect in WS, then the priority would be a brisk forward velocity rather than people getting bogged down by those lagging - we've talked this stuff before and I like your vision - I just don't get the contention in this thread - but I will say that WS'ers seem to be pretty courteous about ideas compared to other disciplines. ... Are people doing relative work in camera suits? No. As Kallend pointed out in another thread, the greater the weight, the greater the disturbance to the air ... if you're trying to fly in close proximity to other people it's probably best to minimize disturbance. you were looking for analogies - this response makes no sense. In RW, yes....we do weight up to allow us to fly in our comfort zones. I suspect the range of WS flying is much larger though, so weighing up or down seems to be a bigger risk when trying make a single suit meet all your needs...... ... I think you are both off base there in terms of the aerodynamics - flapping causes bad aerodynamic shedding (i.e., bad air). certainly more weight means you are moving 'more' air (balance of mass, balance of force....) but moving air doesn't = 'disturbance' ... the exception is if the winds are higher than your canopy speed - under canopy, you'll back up, but I can horizontal a lot faster than the 20-25 mph but, in that scenario, if you are already on the wrong side of the DZ, you are also already screwed and I'd recommend spotting practice as a better alternative that tracking up the wind line.... ... I wear between 0 and 15 pounds of lead depending on who I'm jumping with and what the event involves. Just makes life easier. Wearing lead while also wearing a larger wingsuit (S-Bird) instead of a smaller wingsuit (R-Bird or T-Bird) ... How many people do you know doing relative work in balloon suits with lead? I fly big camerawings for tandem/FS, often with lead. This flies differently than just using smaller wings. I like the way it flies it gives me more range - big wings if I need 'em, lead for the speed if I need it. Canopy pilots also do this, a bigger wing with lead flies differently from a smaller wing without, given the same WL. I've never tried it with wingsuits, but I can imagine it works similarly. So there's your other disciplines. For Competitive RW - Wear a suit that fits over the torso and eliminates flapping material for all but the biggest heavyweights. the compensate with lead to fall together comfortably. another discipline - similar argument to dragon - there's a common/baseline performance preference that ties to suit style. Weights allow us to better keep that fit and still gives us that fine tune adjustment to stay together though I'd suspect a camera suit fit would be more analogous to wingsuiting that FF or RW ...
