  1. So which is it for you? I agree with your second comment. I consider your first just as wrong as the current situation for the same reasons. In other words, the concept of "if there's going to be favoritism applied then I want it done to MY PERSONAL biases" is just more of the same ol' same ol' crap that caused the mess. "if there's going to be favoritism" STOP RIGHT THERE we already lost ... 2. I know the thread is all just supposedly good clean fun, but I find the concept of the thread ..... just "off" for a couple reasons. I'll write one about the one of the more "heads up" students I'm reserve side on a Cat A, the inside JM actually launched poorly with the student launching poorly). By the time the inside JM let go as agreed, I had a student on her back. I go to flip her (this usually happens VERY immediately) and she looks me right in the eye and smiles: checks her altimeter: and then does a practice touch while on her back. I flip her and the rest of the dive she aced Love the composure, she was an infrequent student, but always did great. Edit: the problem with "stupidest student stories" for me, is either: the student just didn't get prepped very well, and that's not on the student, it's on me or my friends that prepped him. or: the student just overloaded and I get a great ride and a lot of personal learning (my worst and likely on of the least 'bright' students ever was one of my most fun skydives ever, he REALLY made me work during the jump and, frankly, the debrief. I learned a ton) ... Driving is a one dimensional activity - a monkey can do it - being proud of your driving abilities is like being proud of being able to put on pants
  3. WHAT main point??? You don't have one other than "he has too much and should give it to other people". nonsense "he has a lot and gives it to other people" is called Charity. it's a right wing concept. stereotypical lefties believe in "he has a lot, so the government should take it and give it away to anyone else (after I possibly can get a portion of the huge cut the legislators take)" I believe Dekker is an advocate of charitable giving, but that's not the content of you two poking each other at all ... 6. Remember that there is no evidence that the hard drive or safe contains anything incriminating. It might well include information that is embarassing but either not illegal or not related to the conduct on which the search warrant was issued. Since you acknowledged there was a valid search warrant issued, then your point is....well....pointless. you could just as well state - Remember that there is no evidence that the "seized cardboard box of personal notes" contains anything incriminating. The whole issue is about whether the suspect can be directed, legally, to open the box for the cops if the cops can't figure it out on their own. ("box", or "safe", or "locker", or "harddrive" - same thing, just varying degrees of difficulty for each for cops to do it on their own) Unless you are actually trying to talk about unjustified warrants - but that's completely another topic edit: I have another question. Are warrants very specific? Using the close box analogy - does the warrant have to specifically allow cops to open closed boxes or files? Are there warrants that only allow authorities to walk the premises and observe but not touch or rifle the property - vs just blanket warrants that allow going through the couch cushions and opening every container in sight???? Seems the question of "OH NO! that's embarrassing vs pertinent to the case!" is moot. the cops want to find the gun, not put you in jail for having pictures of yourself at Couch Freaks. ... 8. Bull - he sounds like a person that understand 'legal' vs 'spin'. Neither a Dem or Rep advocate falls into that category in this topic. I understand what you are saying but what was meant by my comment was that republicans feal you should be able to keep more of what you earn and spend how you want and dem's want to distribute what you earn as they want. Bill was defending Romney's income and tax % allowing him to keep what he earned. then you don't understand what I'm saying: here's a clarification of my intent I contend that today's Dems want to distribute what you earn as they want. I also contend that today's Reps want to distribute what you earn as they want. I don't think either "official and organized" team has or even cares about what I'd call true "fiscal conservatism" - they are both social agenda driven groups. I do believe that both teams have splinter/sub groups that feel this way and I wish they'd join forces instead of letting their subjective social agenda nonsense keep sidetracking them. ... 9. that's a tough one then. They are authorized to go get the containers, but they can only use the info if they are smarter than the suspect. Seems it'll just breed smarter criminals? Then is that worth it to protect all the rest of us? I would lean to protecting the rest of us normally. this will likely get worse before it gets better. ... 11. policial bias much? The Republicans on the right that advocate Fair Tax, the fiscal Republicans (Tea Party), just might. This type of action splits both parties, and, actually, I'd much rather see this division into two new parties than the current dysfunctional "social program philosophy" split we current suffer under. blinders don't become you - this would radically accelerate the wealth gap to that unhealthy place you state you want to avoid ... 12. that's the tough part for sure... however, you pick at my post for that comment, but you only offer two options: 1 - Change the tax code - irony there 2 - Get the credit card companies to do something against their bottom line which one was doable? ... 13. So, before there were hard drives, there were paper records. When a search warrant was issued, they could come inside and take the file cabinet. 1 - If it was locked, could the authorities break the lock and review the records? 2 - If it was a safe, did they have the legal authority to crack the locked safe? 3 - How are these records any different other than they apparently have a better lock? 4 - or is this even more clever - it's analogous to a safe that has an incendiary device against tampering........So if the authorities could crack the safe, then no problem, but if they couldn't, were they authorized to compel the suspect to open it for them???? (I don't know the answer to 1 and 2? not a lawyer here) Or do they just need to find better encryption breakers????? ... 14. YES! But let's do this right.... let's change income to say worth? IF you are worth say $250mill....yeah pay a bit more say 30% since we can't tax you let's get our money the other way? So that way those in the middle class can leverage low interst money to invest in markets and or start a new business? Thoughts? OH yeah i'm not a jellocrat! 1 - they'll just pay cash then....that'll be even worse, then you'll have to get a law passed to require them to take the loans to 'stimulate' whatever imaginary part of the economy you want favored.... comment so you want to have higher credit card interest on those most able to make payments? why on earth would credit card companies charge more for lower risk clients? why on earth would banks charge higher mortgage interest on clients that are able to make payments? why on earth do you want to government to meddle even more in private businesses such as banks and credit card companies? you are making zero sense. your proposals continue to be about redistribution and government intervention - but your main complaint is about redistribution and government intervention in the first place (government decided to tax investment income at a lower rate than direct income - in essence, it was a back end subsidy of wall street) all you are saying is that subsidies are bad - unless you personally get one. all you are saying is that penalties are bad, unless someone you don't like gets one the solution is simple - get government out of picking winners and losers. Change the tax code to tax ALL income at the same rate, everybody pays, no subsidies for businesses or favored technologies, no penalties for businesses or out of favor industries, etc etc etc no exceptions ... 15. I'm actually surprised the governments don't get together and settle ac counts this way. Since the true debt holders aren't so much the treasury as private banks, etc - it would be a great way for congress to pile up a ton of foreign debt, and then get it forgiven against credits due to those banks. In essence, a huge money grab from our domestic private industry. Government loves that. ... 22. I don't get the point of item #3 being in there. Certainly the first two show the ability to pay a loan off. #3 certainly goes AGAINST your ability to pay off a loan AND demonstrates poor judgment in money management. The less risky loan would be to approve for 1, and 2, and those that have a smaller proportion of income going to a single debt. Not larger. If you don't want to talk politics here, then you are missing the reasoning. this is more subsidy activity with a clear short term benefit and long term disaster. ...
