I'd say it would only be a problem if the company/organization forced me to contribute from my paycheck or via required dues or the like. ... Driving is a one dimensional activity - a monkey can do it - being proud of your driving abilities is like being proud of being able to put on pants

WOW - that might be the most concise description of Speaker's Corner ever devised if you would have inserted the words "completely unashamed(ly)" somewhere in there, I'd've been floored ... I guess my worry with your position, Doc, is that this "clear evidence" would likely reside in authorities doing a google search on an applicant's internet traffic - would require knowing all their on-line identities in order to do a thorough review - and then have to make a grey line drawn to decide what is 'normal' and not normal. suddenly, we are talking about control of free speech being contingent upon exercise of other rights - free speech being held hostage and what about people with no internet presence, then do we pay the expense for background checks that include interviewing acquaintances? is just the lack of anything reviewable considered not normal? it becomes pretty intrusive, pretty fast who would do the checks? our buddies at Homeland Security? just some thoughts Edit: frankly, just DZ.com traffic, I'd say you'd have to pull the gun rights from all of these jokers on Speaker's Corner completely - this is as complete a gang of homicidal nuts as I've ever been lucky enough to associate with electronically - opinions are dangerous!!! ... Now we're getting somewhere - what were those warning signs prior to the incident? Are they easy to implement into approval criteria? Are those signs significantly different than things the 'normal' people do (ie rant on the internet, have grudges, etc etc etc) If so, then you actually do have a good start. Right now, I'm skeptical (but open to the discussion) that most of your warning signs are really something truly indicative - vs just 20/20 hindsight type of offerings of course - anything that's truly substantial would then fall under the category of "profiling" ... How to operate (and not operate) a Skyvan door
rehmwa replied to billvon's topic in Safety and Training
But due to latch fumbling, not dinking around He didn't seem to look for the spot either. That said - we've been on dives where you've taken that much (thankfully). I recall Couch we're on the Skyvan and the light is green (pilot was putting the green on very short all day in high winds). The guys behind us are yelling "GOGOGOGOGOGO". I turned around and said to "relax, he knows what he's doing" We get out, everybody makes it back. Next load we have some of the same characters and they are bitching anyway for some reason. It's funny, you just let them go first though they were a smaller group. the got out on green - landing in the apple orchards The rest of us waited like 20 seconds or so and then got out - the rest of the plane landed on. Lesson is - spot for the load, not yourself. and the big lesson ----- If you don't know how to spot for yourself, then you have no right to yell "GOGOGOGOGO" I'll take a SkydiveSG spot any day, any jump. IMHO ... Driving is a one dimensional activity - a monkey can do it - being proud of your driving abilities is like being proud of being able to put on pants -
Tebow seems like a good guy and good athlete. The public that puts him up on a pedestal for his 'pose' and those that ridicule him for the same are really ignorant and should just focus on the game - what a serious waste of time when they can't seem to find their role models on a more personal basis. As for his gesture - it's pretty much up to the refs since there is already a rule about 'excessive celebration'. I've always found celebrating scoring to be unprofessional - seems a real professional shouldn't be so surprised about succeeding once in a while. It's pretty juvenile ... actually, the USA makes it easy for citizens to get guns how do you address 'unproven nutters' without violating the rights of law abiding citizens - for now, you're coming off (as you know and you do it on purpose) as pretty much stating all citizens = nutters perhaps you'd examine their voting records and decide which pig is more equal than the others? ... ooooooh - so we'll be picking it apart even though a clarification came later. FUN OK, John's strawman noted a position that 'everybody should do nothing' You note that "an uprising against the gov is virtually impossible" how does those two equate then? I am stuck with the idea that you think JR is a quitter that wouldn't try even against the worst odds? (I think more highly of his national devotion). How'd I do? This is fun. ... strawman - nowhere in the entire thread did anyone state that civilians do nothing The OP didn't explicitly state it, but he *does* spend the whole thread alluding to the uselessness of resisting fed.gov... nope, we pulled on that string and he clarified that that the point his old man was actually making was that the difference is so vast, that there's little point in the government trying to implement hard controls. people incorrectly inferred the opposite interpretation which is spawning all this tangent about how a populace would be able to resist despite it all. which is a fun tangent ... Good point if they have bad aim, they are less of a threat to others - except when they TRY to miss - so maybe we should only ban guns from "nice guys with bad aim or people that want to scare others with loud noise but not actually hurt anyone" and "people that have shot themselves successfully" for the children ... I agree - anyone that shoots a bunch of co-workers and then shoots himself to death is a nutter. footage emerges showing U.S. troops urinating on dead Afghan bodies

What an odd string of posts - 1 - everyone says the same thing "the Marines were wrong" 2 - everyone says the same thing "they should be punished" 3 - everyone says the same thing "I can understand why they did it, but it's still wrong" (and 1 and 2 still apply) so about 8 of you all agree with each other and yet you keep arguing and belittling each other weird this is something I really hate about this forum {{{there's a small contingent that continue to purposely imply that understanding = approval - but they are just trolling}}} ... I disagree. I would be upset with both. And I think upset is putting it mildly. the question was "more" - suck it up and decide the only way to get both is, as noted upthread, where the best friend = spouse. But if you are mad at your spouse for masturbating, then you really need to watch more movies. And, this response is sure to just be someone sucking up to their spouse in the hopes for better meals and presents...... ... 1st comment - It's amazing what having a plan and agreement ahead of time does to simplify things. That's a good lesson. 2nd comment - I completely agree with that plan - the pilot can choose to release the load. We choose as individuals to jump. If there is a disagreement in that scenario (between jumpers, or the pilot and anyone), the time to discuss it is coolly afterward on the ground. (as I stated exactly earlier) ...
