  1. For AFF - "RW folks" are not your best source of advice. You AFF instructors are. For my students (and also having a wife who builds, designs and markets RW suits). 1 - If you went and got a suit......no issue using your own suit as long as the instructors are ok with it (they have to consider your fall rate and keeping a hold of you). I'd recommend, instead of just taping (which comes undone at unfortunate times) you have someone put a tack stitch in it (put the bootie up inside the cuff and then actually do a temporary stitch with military grade nylon thread - suit thread - so it stays put - and presents like a normal cuff). 2 - do you really want to wear this new suit knowing you'll likely duff a few landings and possibly tear it or get it filthy? Their is something nice about having your own suit, no need to share, doesn't stink of others' sweat, it fits right, etc etc etc. I encourage my students to NOT buy a suit until they get clear of AFF and the coached sequence - you can't assess the type of fit you need until you get some airtime post student stuff..... Around their A License timeframe, I encourage them to then get their first suit and get it in the final config they need (full grips, full sized booties - unless they have real issues or are tiny, then recreational cut booties - they can tack them up until they are ready to fly them - but the sooner they learn them, the better off they will be in the long run.) I don't encourage them to buy a 'beginner' suit - I think that's a sales scam frankly. This way they don't have to buy the 'real thing' in another year. ... 2. An 8 way continuity option.....and IPC updates - these both open to adobe From IPC - we have 3 new blocks we might learn and one new random. (also can search "8 way skydiving changes fai 2013" of course) http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=2&cad=rja&ved=0CDcQFjAB&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.fai.org%2Fdownloads%2Fipc%2F2013_FS_Competition_Rule_Changes&ei=DNCHUcyHDobC9QTf6IGICQ&usg=AFQjCNFghS7O90_IhuISdw3TsJZcoNeAdA&bvm=bv.45960087,d.eWU color coded continuity plan (without the new blocks and the new random - can do a search "Strollerweb 8 way" - these guys put a nice package together - I think a team in Perris has nice cheat sheets too. Of course, with 8way, there are more options to deviate....) http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=5&cad=rja&ved=0CFYQFjAE&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.strollerweb.co.uk%2Fforce-download.php%3Ffile%3Dpdf%2F8wayCoach.pdf&ei=99CHUdfaMcKKqwHdkIFQ&usg=AFQjCNFI_qPEYMD1ZMEEMcYVvh5eyZ2A_g&bvm=bv.45960087,d.aWM ... 3. yes to the first sentence - what are his actions? judge him on his actions (i.e., you kill 20 people because you didn't get a discount at the tire store? you get tried for killing 20 people.....you kill 20 people because you think the military is killing gay baby whales? you get tried for killing 20 people......you kill 20 people while shouting "God is great, I love my adopted foreign country!!!!!"? you get tried for killing 20 people) - anything else is social manipulation to impotently try to control how people think. (for those that want to talk about self defense rationale, etc, .... sure, I get that point and it's a good one. But not really part of the point I'm trying to make.) no to the second sentence - I don't care if it's what he wants or not. It's not a factor is what the crime is, just his actions ... 5. If you're saying that special tax exempt status for political organizations needs to go away, then I agree. Is that what you're saying? I'm sorry, did you say that any kind of special tax status (either positive or negative) for ALL organizations needs to go away? I agree ... 6. nicer set up - you can reduce even more hazard by dressing the edges of the mount to the helmet with gaffers tape (yes, it's already very nice, but the closer you get to a molded total shape the better). That would pretty much only leave the minor lens overhang with the narrow slot under the cam. it's heartening to see more and more mount options that mold to the shape of the helmet better mine's a bit more involved, but you can see where I taped the joint of the camera casing/helmet - just to eliminate that open seam - one simple cheap adder. My snags remain the ringsite and the flat still mount plate (though the plate does reduce snag on the video cam lens). when the still is mounted, it becomes a snag itself. ... 7. this is fascinating - 1 - you go on a tirade about inability to trust the military (made up of men 2 - the you are pissed off that people are upset that a military man acts in a totally untrustworthy fashion and they wanted him to act in a legal and honorable way..... ... 8. He's both, and an asshole. All at once. He should be tried. And, he made a contract and broke it, so he has no honor. (This doesn't matter who the contract is with - (for those crybabying about hating the military - that's a really nice subjective sense of situational right vs wrong... "well, it's wrong......unless I can rationalize that he did it to a group I don't like - then it's just fine"). The issue is about him upholding his agreements, not whether it's politically correct in terms of the group or people he contracted with. It's wrong if the contract is with the US Government, it's wrong if the contract is with a little old lady.) He had legal and honorable ways to express his concerns and grievances. He chose to do it in a purposely harmful and illegal way, regardless. He's scum. At best, he's a petulant, entitled, child with no sense of process or honor. I wouldn't trust him to save me a seat on the bus. ... 14. Let me get this straight: Dick Cheney is working for Obama, using Halliburton built nano-devices to control the weather. The devices were dispersed into the atmosphere during 9/11 (by very large remote drones) in order to be ready to cause tornado tragedies so the extremist press would report on weather and trailer parks, and interview fat people in dirty t-shirts thanking someone named 'god' for the privilege of smashing their big screen TVs....... instead of reporting on: Bengazi, reporters under investigation by the Administration, and the IRS actually trying to apply for tax exempt status from itself? And the only thing that has brought this conspiracy to light is gay married people with concealed carry permits. Clinton and Bush Senior would roll over in their graves if the Israelis would let them. 15. That's a great question for the car manufacturers..... Provided their hands aren't tied by unfair laws and subsidies that subjectively favor competitors that are pushing a different, more political popular, design requirement. 24. 1 - usually no need for multiple passes. Skydivers need to understand that 10 seconds between groups is from "go" to "go". Instead of "go" to climbout. Then they need to make honest efforts to make that happen. 2 - Agree that the courtesy of the discussion is important. Don't be a dick about it on either side. However, and especially if I have a student, if someone is shouting at me while I'm in the door, I HAVE to assume the worst and that the shouting is for the purpose of warning me off of climbout. 25. as a direct effect? sure, kinda a 'dog bites man' story isn't it? This would be true even with a flat tax with no exemptions....pay more, then a "percentage" cut would net you more dollars. However, today, if you pay 0% taxes, then I suspect that even if you cut that in half, you'd not take home more money would you? what's the point, an article about class envy? speaking of class envy - Our illustrious tax grabbers increased lots of taxes this year in MN. One is a cigarette tax. Both teams are crying "Tax on the poor!". I hate it that the reps are also playing the class warfare card on this, just because it plays emotionally into their argument, when they should simply be idealogically opposed to it regardless of who it impacts. It's a tax increase on something anyone can buy. It's a $$ grab. plain and simple - our dems will take any dollar they can grab from any person they can corner. ...
