Awesome video! Can't wait for this years PST.
-
You guys suck!!! I can't jump this weekend
-
Post it when you get a chance, could be amusing
-
So does that mean I can come and play too once its flattened Wouldn't want to do a Gile....
-
So when are you going to Texas Kim?
-
I've traveled several times with my rig as carry on. Always in the open like a backpack. And I've only been given an extra look over once and the only strange looks I get are from other passengers and I couldn't care less what they think. Security has been great and most already know what it is. I also have a cypress in it too and had to show my card a couple times then was let thru.
-
Yeah what he said....I know I would seriously think about replacing mine if I banged my head hard on the aircraft on exit or slammed into the ground. After all they only cost about $35, well worth it to me.
-
Very true. So why can't a helmet company make a helmet as safe as a protec but also stylish like a bonehead?
-
Wrong again!! The warning label inside the protec helmet explicity states if the helmet has an impact to replace it immediately or have it inspected by the manufacturer. NEVER reuse a helmet that been in an impact. You have no idea if there are any hairline fractures that you can't see and that would not proctect you at all on a second impact. I'm amazed at how many people think they can reuse a helmet after impact.

Funny, I've heard the same thing about trying to get payments on insurance through the postal system. But then again what do I know growing up with a mom who delivers for UPS. Maybe she's biased or maybe she does know something...
-
Personally I would never ship anything valuable via the postal service, they have a very primative tracking system, if any, compared to UPS. I've heard to many stories of packages getting lost in the postal system and they have no idea where in the process it got lost. UPS logs a package at everything single stop it makes whether by truck or plane.

Line twists after your under a good canopy
tetra316 replied to SurfFlite's topic in Safety and Training
I fly a Sabre2 135 loaded at about 1.2. I've done numerous hard 360s with my just toggles up high and followed by a hard 360 in the opposite direction. I didn't know this could cause line twists as I've never even felt like it would wrap up on me doing these turns. Good to know though. I just won't be making anymore hard toggle turns lower. -
Thanks I'll pm her. I checked out the website and also send an email to Rene. If not this mission maybe something in the future. I've gotten more excited the more I think about it.

Has anyone heard more about the remote area medical mission? There was an article in Parachutists a couple months ago that stated they were looking for experienced skydivers for a mission to Guyana to repair an airstrip for medical evacuations. Since I've read that I haven't been able to get it out of my head. I think I might have to look into this and possibly go! I can't imagine skydiving into the Amazon, an experience not forgotten I'm sure! Plus the chance to do something so meaningful. Anyone else considering this?

Closing in on SKYDIVE #1000...what kind of skydive should I do?
tetra316 replied to maxmadmax's topic in The Bonfire
How about a three cessna plane formation? Got a friend who's planning that for his 1000. -
Anyone know where you can get a cheap weight belt? I've looked at a couple of websites and they're around $85, a little pricey if you ask me. Or any other ideas?
-
I used to take them out on the ground and put them back in after but its bothersome. Plus sometimes we go over jumps in the plane on the way up or change something. I'd rather be in on that. Plus I like being able to hear the wind rushing in freefall and the canopy when open. It makes it more real somehow being able to hear during the skydive rather than just having silence.
-
So how do you deal with this? I just wear a protech which covers my ears enough that I know they wont fall out. Has anyone ever jumped with them without a helmet?
-
Do you walk across a taxi-way after you land?
tetra316 replied to skyhussy's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
At both Eugene Skydivers and Wright Brothers Skydiving the landing area is across the runway. We cross the runway everytime but this is a non towered airport even though its public. A small airport with small private owned airplanes mostly. -
I did a tandem with a friend sorta of as a graduation gift to myself. We got a big discount at the college and a group of 40 or so went. The dropzone actually flew down to a private airstrip near us as the dropzone was 2 1/2 hours away. The day we went to do them it got really windy that afternoon so a few of us couldn't get up. They told us to come back the next day at sunrise before they left and they would take us. Did my first tandem at 6 in the morning. Loved it so much I did my second right after. Even though it took me a year to save money I finally went back and went through AFF. But that's still the earliest I've ever jumped by a few hours!
-
Oh you bet I am! My instructors kept bringing that up and offering suggestions like they assumed I would go. Guess that means they have the confidence in me to go for it! Plus I would love to be able to take someone up in the air for their first time and be a part of that experience, excitement.
-
I was excited and just wanted to share this accomplishment and the next thing it seems like everyone is jumping all over me for getting my rating to make money
-
Oops, maybe I got a little carried away
-
If you had read my earlier post you would know that getting my rating has NOTHING to do with making money. I love skydiving and love sharing that with others. I took the course because I thought it would be a great way to learn more, and it definitely was. Gives you a different way of looking at things. I've always jumped with people fresh off student status and will always do so, WITHOUT charging them just because I have a rating. If you had paid attention you would have known I was joking about doing it just to get free jumps. Geez can't anyone make a sarcastic comment anymore?
