  1. Just curious, you can afford 4000 jumps but not $200? Don't get me wrong, I think its overpriced but if you really wanted it you could save and do one less jump. It'll add up fast, trust me I know.
  2. I don't think it cost that much at all. I only paid $75 for the course plus $55 for the books, which I already had from last year, and four jump tickets. I think that is very reasonable. We also had evaluators from three different drop zones conducting the course. I don't understand why some places are charging upwards of $300 just for the course. Maybe we should also question if the instructors are in it just for the money too?
  3. If I was just interested in making money do you think I would be skydiving I got my license because I love sharing the rush of skydiving with others, letting them experience it! Just making a comment that perhaps I might break even on a few jumps now that I can coach.
  4. A protech because its cheap, means more money for jumps, and it offers some of the best protection around. Stick some stickers on it or paint and you have a custom helmet!
  5. My course only cost $75 plus $55 for the books and four jump tickets. Lasted about two and half days with some fun jumps in there on the second day as well as the evaluator jumps.
  6. 25 hours ago! A four way chicks l load. All the way to 12000 most of the day. Oregon winters aren't all that bad, just a little cool
  7. Yahoo! I finally got my coaching license this weekend. Two full days of class stuff and jumps and now maybe I'll get some of my skydiving paid for. Anyone else have a great weekend?
  8. I've seen both stainless steel and standard rings side by side on rigs and unless you pay attention you really can't tell the difference, unless you're going to be leaving it in the rain and dirt and it rusts. But that's my two cents, looks just aren't my number one priority on rig I guess. Besides I've heard riggers say that sometimes the stainless steel can allow the straps to loosen more than with standard rigs. Any thoughts on that?
  9. I wouldn't order the stainless steel either. If you take care of the rings there's no difference in looks and it will save you about $200.
  10. Vector II with a F111 170 and pd 143r all dom about 1990. BUT I just got my brand new baby, an Infinity with tye dye flaps and a Sabre II 135 all brand spanking new!!!
  11. A little over a hundred in a seasonal drop zone and living two and a half hours away and working during the week!!
  12. I paid about $1250 for my custom Infinity, $850 for a brand new cypress, and $1250 for a brand new Sabre2 135. Found someone with a coupon for a brand new canopy willing to sell it rather than buying from the manufacture. On the Inifinity I bought it from my dzo whose a dealer. The crypress I bought off of paragear.com I think.
  13. I've flown with my rig several times now and never had a problem. They may not know what it is but once I tell them then they let me though, sometimes with a few questions sometimes with none. And I just carry it on, without putting it in a bag.
  14. I would get a Sabre 2. I've had one and am staying with it when I downsize. You get beautiful openings and flied conservatively they can be very docile but start pushing it and really flying it and you'll find you almost have a different canopy, similar to a stilleto but faster I'm told. And they can really swoop!!
  15. Once when I was doing one of my last AFF jumps. Our student gear has Astras that you turn on and off after each jump. Well I forgot to turn mine on before we got on the plane and my instructioner forgot to check it until we were almost to altitude so she made me ride it down, turn it on and try again. Ended up being my worst AFF jump to, probably from nerves:)
  16. I've been traveling a quite a bit recently and I just carry it on my back. I also tape the reserve and cutaway handles to prevent them from accidently being pulled. Just make sure you cut it off before you jump! Other than the standard what is this question and how does the cypress work I haven't had any problems at all. Security maybe takes 10 min longer. I'd rather just carry it on my back as I wouldn't have to take it out of a bag and put it back in everytime also, its less weight to carry around as I pack everything else in my checked luggage. Plus the funny looks from other passengers can be hilarious.
  17. I think you have to pay 20 bucks for each license. So why don't you just skip sending for the B and C and just get your D license. Then you only have to pay $20. Just be sure to put your test scores and jump requirements for your B and C on the application when applying for your D.
  18. I'm getting a new Infinity soon and was wondering about the double wide leg straps. I've talked to a couple of guys who got them and they love them for the extra comfort. But then when I called Infinity they said that some women were complaining that the double wide straps pinched where they shouldn't . Has anyone gotten them and what do they think? Thanks!
  19. By the way its not the FunFest anymore. Its the Northwest Jumpfest. Sorry everyone, no kiddie rides and petting zoos there anymore I've been told
  20. What about some cheaper places to buy freefly pants. Does anyone know of some websites?
  21. I'm learning to freefly and want to make some pants rather than buy something. Any suggestions on what kind of material to make them out of. I've asked a couple of people and they said it doesn't really matter what kind of material just that they are baggy. Ideas? Thanks:)
  22. Of course not that would be terrible
  23. Wahoo, I finally managed to hit my 100th last weekend! And on a cool 4 way dive out load. Of course I had to leave the dz early the day I just happened to hit the 100 mark But of course I've been assured that there will be plenty of pie awaiting my return
  24. I think it depends on the family. But I'm sure it will bring you a lot closer than many other things would. There's just something about the fear/excitement thing that supersedes so much. After I got started sky diving of course I tried to talk everyone into it and eventually succeed in getting my parents to both say yes if I buy them a tandem. But of course my mom had to go and break her ankle before they were supposed to go Hopefully this year I can push them out a plane!!
