What makes you want to go to a boogie?
tetra316 replied to Rdutch's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
"(hence, I want to go to the boogie in Alaska...)" I definitely recommend it!!! Where else can you jump onto a glacier? -
Finally, after several months of requesting a job transfer to home I got it!!!! I have been traveling full time with only two weekends home a month. The traveling would have been okay but they always seemed to send me to places where there are no dropzones nearby Now I can jump everyday if I want!!! Or rather if I can afford it....

I just demoed a pdr 143 this weekend. I have a bad habit of looking at my canpoy as it opens and even though I told myself I wasn't going to on this jump I still did I took it to terminal and the opening shock would have been swift but okay if I hadn't looked up. Luckly I didn't feel it in my neck but it did strech out my back a bit. As far as landing flare it was beautiful, just like a spectre that I've jumped a few times.

Does any one know when Sydive Oregon's freedom jam is this year in August?

There's Skydive Oregon that's in Mollala, about an hour from Portland. Great people and they have an otter. I would definitely recommend going there. If you want to go a little further there's Eugene Skydivers just south of Eugene. A smaller family type dropzone with a caravan in the summer. I'd pick that one, (but hey its my home dz) -
I know there is a dropzone listed on here but I never could get a hold of anyone there so I don't know if they really exist I've tried to go to Silvertip Skydivers which is outside Missoula but no on was there a couple weeks ago on a beautiful sunny Saturday. So I ended up heading up to Lost Prairie while I was in Montana.

ATTN NW canopy pilots: Swoop Comp. coming up
tetra316 replied to superstu's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
Yes they do....with and without a leash as long as they're not walking all over the canopies (Unless someone wants to correct me on this..) -
I haven't a clue, was wondering how cold it would be to jump up there though....

Anyone going up to Wasilla for this boogie next month? I'm going to be up there for work and was wondering if its worth it to rearrange my schedule to be there for the boogie? What do you think?
-
Yes he was okay, think he tore some muscles or ligments but didn't break anything. Was out of service for a couple weeks though.

Anyone going up to Lost Prairie for memorial day weekend? I'm in Helena and was thinking of going up there for the weekend. Or any other places closer to Helena....To bad they're not having a pre boogie, boogie.

Open discussion on discipline effort choice
tetra316 replied to skipro101's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Well I did nothing but rw for my first 100 or so jumps. After that its basically 50/50 with rw and ff. Although I'm much bettter at rw. I think its easier to learn quickly than ff. Of course if you stick with one you'll become much better faster but I don't think its that much of a trade off to do both if you're jumping frequently and not switching back and forth every single jump. But then again what do I know..... -
Thought I'd head over there this weekend. Does anyone jump there or have any info/hints whatever about the place? They're not listed on here and don't have much info on their website. What were your experiences there? Much appreciated.

Did have a premature though from the pc coming out of the boc but thats another topic -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- That's not another topic, the rig is not freefly friendly. ---------------------------------------------------------- And that's exactly why I did not free fly with this rig after that and ended up getting a new Infinity. Just meant it did not have anything to do with the topic of riser covers.
-
Dang and I'm not going to be there At least I'll save some money. Do you know whos flying the caravan down?
-
I jumped a vector II for a while with velco riser covers. Just had the velco replaced before I started free flying though. They never seemed a problem and rarely came open. Did have a premature though from the pc coming out of the boc but thats another topic I would just replace the velcro and and have a rigger check the entire rig before you take it up.

You should talk to Kevin or Urban. I'm pretty sure they are looking for packers for this summer if you're interested.
-
I usually do 6-9 in a day in the summer. But that includes packing my own rig after every jump. It's the packing that tires me out not the jumping. I'd probably do more if I didn't pack myself, but I'm to frugal to spend the extra jumping money on a packer.
-
Thanks I'll do that!

Finally went out to the local airport after work today to see about jumping there. The guy I talked to, his dad had worked at the airport for seven years and was a skydiver too. He said they used to jump at the airport but they haven't been around for a while. I'm going out there tomorrow at lunch and see if I can't talk someone into taking me up next weekend by splitting gas or something. Wish me luck Anyone else going to be in the area? Maybe we can get a group together, cheaper rides.

Has anyone actually landed in the grass area and not the dirt/crop area yet??????
