  1. OK Spence, this answers some of my questions and creates others. I was going to post about an organizer. I am willing to organize anything up to about a 15 way, but this is out of my league. (I'd still be willing to help if needed.) If one (or two) organizers is needed for this attempt, that would take them away from organizing the other jumpers (or vice versa). That brings us back to needing our own dedicated organizer. One other thing. In the same damn breath you asked who was going to be in charge and also started suggesting RULES! Unless YOU are taking charge of the record (since I'm sure you have nothing else to do) then quit trying to influence whoever will be in charge! Now BUZZ OFF!!! Grins- Jeff "When I die, I want to go like my grandmother, who died peacefully in her sleep. Not screaming like all the passengers in her car."
  2. I have an idea. (I know, scary, huh?) First of all, what is the current "Dropzone.com RW record", where and when was it set? The idea is to break it at the Dublin Boogie in March. Last I checked, we had about 60 DZ.comers listed as coming. Any interest in making this happen? Blue 111- Jeff "When I die, I want to go like my grandmother, who died peacefully in her sleep. 3. Although not a regular regular, BSA was like a second home for me. The people there are simply the most fun group to jump with. Let's keep our fingers crossed for a small miracle. 4. Now if I can only keep my son off of the motorcycles before the boogie, I will actually make it on time this year! "When I die, I want to go like my grandmother, who died peacefully in her sleep. Not screaming like all the passengers in her car."
  5. Pictures are: HERE (I think. Someone let me know if they have trouble with this link.) Blue 111- Jeff "When I die, I want to go like my grandmother, who died peacefully in her sleep. Not screaming like all the passengers in her car."
  6. OK, so I am a dumb-ass. I know how to make a hyperlink in my e-mail, and it is obvious how to make one when posting here (using the "url" button), but I can't seem how to figure out making a hyperlink (posting here) other than using the actual link. ie: using the word CLICKY as the hyperlink, with it directing it to the designated web address. Anyone??? Thanks- Jeff "When I die, I want to go like my grandmother, who died peacefully in her sleep. Not screaming like all the passengers in her car."
  7. OK... so I'm a dumb-ass! http://photos.yahoo.com/theverydirtiestbird Enjoy! Jeff "When I die, I want to go like my grandmother, who died peacefully in her sleep. Not screaming like all the passengers in her car."
  8. I have the photos I took at the balloon jump at the link below. You actually can order prints to be picked up at Target, or mailed to your house from this site (it's a Yahoo site). They pics are pretty cheap, and I don't make a nickel, it's just a file sharing thing for everyone to be able to look at them. If you do order prints they are very high resolution. Also, for a couple of bucks to defray costs, I'll be glad to burn you a disc with all of the photos on it. If you want to wait until I've had a chance to edit it, I'll send you the video too. It was a blast guys! I wish I didn't have to haul ass so fast after the jump, but the DAWGS were waiting for me at the GA Dome! Let's do it again soon! When you go to the link below to look at the photos, go to the "Ballon" folder and picture. ENJOY! Blue 111- Jeff "When I die, I want to go like my grandmother, who died peacefully in her sleep. 9. Depending on how fast we get things moving, I might sell you my slot for the 2nd jump. I have to get to Atlanta in a timely fashion. Jeff "When I die, I want to go like my grandmother, who died peacefully in her sleep. Not screaming like all the passengers in her car."
  10. Wayne- Are we still scheduled to meet at the super Wal-Mart in Evans at 6:30 AM? Spence- Are you coming to hang out and try to grab a no-show's slot? Jeff "When I die, I want to go like my grandmother, who died peacefully in her sleep. Not screaming like all the passengers in her car."
  11. OK, so what is the official "I have paid and I will be there." list? Jeff "When I die, I want to go like my grandmother, who died peacefully in her sleep. Not screaming like all the passengers in her car."
  12. At the risk of sounding parental here is a small check list of things to bring (or do) on these jumps. A thought to remember is that normally balloon jumps are done in a boogie situation with an entire drop zone and it's group of people readily available. This won't be the case here. 1)Pull up cord and rubber stow bands. Don't depend on others. Even waiting for someone else's pull up cord cost valuable minutes as we race to catch the balloon for the 2nd jump. 2)Cell phone. The chase vehicle can take a while finding you, as well as other things that can happen. Once again, don't depend on others as it is remarkable just how far you can land from the other people on the very same skydive. 3)Drivers license, USPA card, and medical insurance card. This in in case you land on farmer McNasty's property and hit his fence; or hit it real hard! It normally isn't a problem, but it isn't out of the realm of possibility to have the law called on you for landing on someone's property. ID, USPA card (you have property damage insurance through them), and your medical insurance card can make a bad situation much better. It also doesn't hurt to have a couple of bucks on you. 4)As obvious as it sounds, don't turn on your AADs until you get to the launch site, especially those coming from out of town. Another thing to consider, is that your landing area could be up to a couple of hundred feet higher or lower than the launch point. Don't be caught by surprise if you are one that uses your altimeter to set up your landing. Because you are landing someplace unplanned and unfamiliar, everything will happen a lot faster. Don't count on a wide open Fort Gordon field being available when you open up. 5)It is also a good idea to wear clear goggles. As stated above, the unfamiliar landing area will need to be thoroughly scanned for fences, power lines, etc. Clear goggles are a good idea on this. Just a few thoughts to try and make this safe for everyone. Go ahead and flame me. Blue 111- Jeff "When I die, I want to go like my grandmother, who died peacefully in her sleep. Not screaming like all the passengers in her car."
  13. Even though it says "front riser" I believe it is actually set up to control the rear risers. Look at the pic, as well as common sense might dictate that one would need to "float" not dive their canopy for an extended period of time. Disclaimer: I am NOT a CReW dog!!! Billboard Incident?

Here's a link for it. (with video) http://www.wistv.com/Global/story.asp?S=4156406 I am truely glad it wasn't a situation where a jumper got hurt. It being a Tuesday, all I could think of was a demo gone wrong or possibly a military operation. Thanks for helping clear this up. Billboard Incident?

I am trying to establish if the incident reported to me is in fact true, and if so what were the circumstances. It was reported to me that on Tuesday, November 22 a skydiver was seen dangling from a billboard along side of Interstate 77 somewhere north of Columbia, SC. There were fire and rescue vehicles at the scene. Does anyone know anything about this and can clarify / fill in the blanks. Blue 111- Jeff "When I die, I want to go like my grandmother, who died peacefully in her sleep. Not screaming like all the passengers in her car."
  16. Alright.... I am paid up. That makes a total of 6 of us for sure. Any update to that Wayne? Also, is the meeting place still the Wal-Mart in Evans? "When I die, I want to go like my grandmother, who died peacefully in her sleep. Not screaming like all the passengers in her car."
  17. Hey you guys quit leaving my name out on the list, or I won't keep you in frame as I shoot exit stills and video on the first load!!! "When I die, I want to go like my grandmother, who died peacefully in her sleep. Not screaming like all the passengers in her car."
  18. You were in Miami this past weekend? So was I! Thanks for letting me know. I actually stopped and jumped in Titusville on Saturday, then headed down afterwards. I was there for the Falcons game... what were you there for? Grins- Jeff "When I die, I want to go like my grandmother, who died peacefully in her sleep. Not screaming like all the passengers in her car."
  19. Lisa- just curious, is this a hypothetical question, or is this in response to an actual situation? Blue 111- Jeff "When I die, I want to go like my grandmother, who died peacefully in her sleep. Not screaming like all the passengers in her car."
  20. If "B" helmet means my Bonehead Flat Top Pro... well, the batteries are charged and the flash card is empty! Be sure and smile REALLY big!!! Grins- Jeff "When I die, I want to go like my grandmother, who died peacefully in her sleep. Not screaming like all the passengers in her car."
  21. Hey-hey-hey!!! If it helps with the first load thingy I need, I can do video and stills for jumpers on my load!!! Grins- Jeff "When I die, I want to go like my grandmother, who died peacefully in her sleep. Not screaming like all the passengers in her car."
  22. I am in, hopefully for both jumps. I have a small scheduling problem though. I need to be on the first load if I am going to do this. I am trying to get out of town and need to get on the road ASAP. I'm not trying to cut in line or anything like that, but I would love to jump... it's just a scheduling thing. If that can be worked out I am DEFINITELY there! Let me know. Grins- Jeff "When I die, I want to go like my grandmother, who died peacefully in her sleep. 23. Don't tell me... SHOW ME!!! Where are the fucking PICTURES???!!! Grins- Jeff "When I die, I want to go like my grandmother, who died peacefully in her sleep. Not screaming like all the passengers in her car."
  24. So what is the current status of this happening? I PM'ed the originator of this thread, but no response nor has there been an update here. We going to skin this cat or what?
