  1. Jumpsuits are usually $250-$350 based on options. I've got a new Bev RW Suit (about 5 jumps) on the classifieds for $150, but I paid $300. There's a bit of quick depreciation since they're custom made, but if you can find one close to your size, it's a nice deal. Freefly suits are pretty uncommon on the classifieds, so I'm just forking out for a new one this week.
  2. Yep, it's a backflip in the air.
  3. I thought the density altitude at higher elevations gave LESS lift...
  4. While looking around at planes, I was amazed to see that only 844 Twin Otters were ever made. Dropzones must own 50 of those... http://www.exn.ca/FlightDeck/Aircraft/Milestones/dhtwinotter.cfm
  5. I was checking their site out today too. I am also interested in a Flite Suit bomber, but the Firefly looks good if they aren't taking 3 months to get like I saw some people saying last year.
  6. That's true for a motorcycle helmet with a head in it at impact, as the foam liner compresses to absorb the impact and permanently deforms. You could probably drop an empty motorcycle helmet and still use it, as long as the outer shell stayed intact.
  7. Since I just starting freeflying, all the jumps are cool to me I was able to bump into a few people in freefall last weekend, and with a goal of 20 jumps this weekend, I'm going to be just about doubling my freeflying experience
  8. Hmm... King Air. 7 or 8 minutes to altitude rocks. You need to bring a book on Skyvan loads
  9. That's just an excuse to demo something else Yeah, if you're here this weekend, they have a little boogie going on. I'll be down there both days jumping like crazy.
  10. Are you going to make it down to Eloy while you're here?
  11. Hey JT, what setup are you using to jump your TRV22?
  12. Looks like someone was lucky not to break a wrist. You should keep your hands closer to your body when planning a PLF.
  13. Nice! I decided long ago that tracking actual costs was too much of a headache.
  14. Cool. I've been looking at a 2k composites FF2 myself, but I'm letting the sticker shock of my new rig wear off for my wife's sake before I order another camcorder and camera helmet
  15. Why you weren't using the standard RAWA side mount box (other than the apparent indestructable nature of that Shummaker box) ? It's one of the things I really like about the RAWA.
  16. Yeah, I was on the other side of the tram when that happened. We heard a thud, and then the whole tram bucked as it drove over it . That really sucked, but it's amazing your camera survived. Any chance of getting it covered under homeowners insurance? BTW, thanks for the jump last weekend.
  17. The first thing to do (other than getting another 260 jumps) is to get your USPA coach rating.
  18. I'll be there jumping my butt off.
  19. Yeah, most of the time I slide it out on my feet to a stop, but occasionally mud or other issues force me to run a little.
  20. I had a Vector II with a 19.5" MLW, and it fit me well at 6'1" (200lbs at the time, usually wear a 33" or 34" inseam). I tried a Odyssey recently that was a C-20, at it was too big. I do only weigh 185 now, so that may affect it as well...
  21. 1) Round reserve + 20mph winds + low pull + line over + spot over a residential area = broken ankle Lesson learned: many, but at least breaking my ankle by kicking the top of a powerline pole kept my torso from being impaled on it. Forking out the cash for a square reserve was an easy decision after this. 2) Night jump + only one car's headlights illuminating the landing area + swooping my Nova + one piece of jagged PVC pipe sticking out of the ground = 25 stitches to my lower leg Lesson learned: don't swoop through the middle of the desert with no illumination 3) Flaring a Sabre two feet to low on a hot day = four stitches to my knee Lesson learned: although I stood up the landing, I dragged my knee for a couple feet on the rocks before popping back up. Heat definitely affects density altitude.
