What is a Main container bottom flap closing loop retainer?
outlawphx replied to schuey87's topic in Gear and Rigging
I suppose that means the closing loop is attached to the bottom flap as opposed to the bottom of the pack tray. i.e. My Voodoo has the closing loop on the bottom flap, but the Javelin has the closing loop in the main pack tray. Having it in the main pack tray allows a greater range of pack volumes while maintaining a tight closing loop. -

I called Linda from bonehead, and she's given me some ideas that I'm going to try tonight. I'll post the results up tomorrow. -

The problem with adding extra padding up top is that it means I'll have even less forehead area covered. I think the helmet would fit better if the front portion came down further on my forehead. Also, the liner has 4 inserts (the shell fits L-XXL based on the number of inserts). Here's a couple pics. It's strange that the helmet won't rotate forward, but it will slide off backwards if I put pressure on the top front. I guess I need a big 'ole chin -
They suck! I've been trying to roll one of my wife's old retirement accounts over Fidelity with the rest of our accounts, and it's been like pulling teeth! She changed her name when we got married, and unlike ING would simply needed a copy of our marriage certificate, they wanted some special kind of securities document (not just a notary). I've been going back and forth with them for 3 months now I highly recommend Fidelity. I've got them managing my family's 401k's, Rollover IRA's, SEP's, Roth's, and 529 accounts. They have a tiered service program at levels of 25k, 100k, and 1M, and you get various levels of free financial planning based on that. ING has been good too. I had them managing my 401k for a couple years, and my wife had a retirement account with them also.

Did My First Camera Jumps This Weekend

Just to clarify... I bought it used, so when I say "swap it out", I meant sell it used and buy a medium I didn't have any headshake on the video, as it's pretty tight. The problem being the angle which the chin strap connects to my chin. Rather than coming at something like a 45 degree angle (giving equal pressure for the helmet rotating forward or back), it's angled forward because the attachment point is too low. -
Did My First Camera Jumps This Weekend

So I got my first jumps with a camera on my head, and they went well. I'm jumping a bonehead optik and a top mounted TRV22 in a bonehead box with a Sony 0.6x. I'm not using a sight or dot or anything else, but I still managed to keep the camera centered enough for my purposes (freeflying). It felt secure side to side and it won't come off forwards, but I'm a little concerned about it coming off backwards. Twice on openning, the chin cup slid off my chin and up over my mouth. I bought what was supposed to be a medium, and it turned out to be a L-XXL. I'm thinking I might have to swap it out for a medium.... I was a little nervous about bumping the top mount in the Otter, but it wasn't a problem. I'm 6', but I still had clearance. The only thing I remembered to look out for are the extra pipes on the ceiling that they added for oxygen. -
Scam in the Classified section.

I got the same one today -
What is that? Second base?

Your yard looks like it needs a little maintenance

Do you happen to jump an Optik with a PC1000 on top?
-
No, IMO wingloadings don't scale real well when you start getting into the 120 sqft range. They have less drag, shorter lines, etc. I think a 120 would be a significant boost in performance from your 135.

Where do I sign up?

Here's a pic of a top mounted still on a Rawa (Not me BTW).

My new (to me) Optik just showed up at work, and I have it sitting on my desk. I got it for a screaming deal, and it currently has a bonehead TRV large box on top. I didn't think it would fit my TRV22, but looking at it, I might be able to shim something together.

Wow, that's quite a few. Although Coolidge probably isn't anymore since it just caters to the military now.

If you have a Cypres with a field replaceable cutter (one pins since Mar 95 and two pins since Sep 99), you can convert between a two pin and one pin without sending it in for service. Otherwise, I believe SSK can convert it for you when you send it in for service. http://www.cypres-usa.com/cypres06.pdf

Spend the money on jumping as much as possible before you get snowed in Since everything fits and is safe, I'd wait for a new container until you're ready to move down to a 150

Found that at B&H. So typically you run a 300-VID and a 300-QRC? I wonder if it's possible to just use the 300-VID, since I'm not planning on pulling off the camera much.

I'll take a look. I'm currently looking through the Markertek catalog. I saw some Bogen plates that look promising...

Any ideas on where to buy a tripod screw and something to fit in the guide post hole?
-
That's what I think about. I just dropped my rig off for a repack this weekend, and I practiced pulling like that. It was suprisingly easy.

That's a pretty nice idea, but my TV is 62" I'll have to see about scrounging up a little TV this weekend.

Anyone have a TRV19/22/33 dbox for sale?
outlawphx replied to outlawphx's topic in Photography and Video
Thanks for the lead, but I've got that same TRV box coming with the Optik I bought (for TRV25, 27, 38, etc). I'm probably going to resell that dbox, install my TRV22 w/o a box for now, and keep and eye out for a used TRV22 box. I'm kicking myself because I missed an ebay auction two months ago (I found it a day after it closed) that sold a bonehead TRV22 box AND a TRV large box for only $30.
