The problem is a lot of things these days develop and organize solely on places like FB. People who "holdout" end up losing out on chances to hang out with their friends who just don't think to CALL you on the phone to invite you to something 100 others are invited to on FB. You can keep your profile empty and not upload pictures etc, not post crazy political shit, or your sexts to your GF, and still be able to gain access to the party.
  2. FlyFree Skydiving in Festus MO. FlyingVRanch as someone said (but they have a few requirements for currency and license) SEMO Skydiving Those are probably the closest ones to you.
  3. Not jumping with a camera is a kind of suffering, now? Did you read the other stickied thread I posted? I also like how you flipped his loss of altitude awareness to being a "decision". He didn't decide shit, he got distracted by the camera and ended up a handful of seconds away from bouncing. Here's the video, if you'd like to see a fellow skygod in action. The best part is the fist thing he does is mug for the camera when he lands. +1!
  4. The title says it. Best weekend since I have joined the sport. Rocked some 2ways (IMO) had some great BBQ and partied out at the DZ for the holiday. Love the skydiving community, open and accepting and full of love. Here's a video of a few jumps on Friday. I'm pretty happy with my belly for 60 jumps.
  5. Buy a new 190 rig. Make sure it fits someone 5'8 ~185lbs. When you sell it in a couple months. PM me. Thanks.
  6. Its not the one looking for the sewing machine you have to worry about. It's the ones who troll CL for addresses, looking wealthy or not has no bearing. It's not worth the risk to you, your home, or your family when you aren't there strapped up.... Its like wearing a gopro at 30 jumps. Can you get away with it? Maybe.....Is it really worth it? Not really. Walmart that shit up from now on!
  7. Wait....is that not what a safety meeting is? I'm confused as hell now...
  8. Uh oh. . . I did provide an address based on an earlier email that sounded legit. I guess I'm in for it. NEVER give your address out. Email, phone, ever.... Google a nice public place near you, grocery store, walmart etc. When they ask for your address....give that one. When they arrive and call and say wtf I am at a walmart?? You say I am 2 minutes away, here I come. Be safe. You have a family etc, there are crazy fucks out there.
  9. I got 2 lines in. Scam.
  10. Game finished! You got 15639 points in total. 1st attempt. One of them was BS though they stuck me in the middle of a frickin national forest in the middle of nowhere Australia. I drove around for like 5 minutes looking for some sort of landmark. Finally found a sign with some word that looked Australian to me, lol. ETA: No cheating! Just drove around and found some stuff to narrow it down.
  11. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=flqz5aI8XTk Some tag from this weekend with Ari. Good times.
  12. sounds great, you won't be disappointed with Ari. I was at 17 jumps when I did 3 hours in Feb. Now I am at 60 jumps going back for another 3 hours this weekend. You will be on your back in no time, but you might find belly flying is just as fun....I pretty much am enjoying it all.
  13. Right. Im sure they are like... "man, I WOULD be rich as fuck like Bill Gates and Warren Buffet, but if I do that I won't get my 200 a month in food stamps."
  14. I'd 2nd this. On my way to my second camp with Ari this weekend. Great instructor and a ninja in the air.
  15. Minivans are ok, but you would have a tough time sticking a real mattress in one. You can get a cheap cargo van, like a CHEVY/GMC 1500 that will get decent mileage on the highway, and be big enough to hobo out in.... http://www.thecarconnection.com/image/100240638_2010-chevrolet-express-cargo-van-rwd-1500-135-side-exterior-view-100240638-s-jpg Something like that. I find them all the time at the auction for under $2000. Usually closer to $1200-1500. They run great but dont have many bells and whistles. ETA: Obviously not a 2010 model, that is just a random example pic. These are more like 1999-2000 models with 150k+ miles.
  16. Agree. The entertainment wasn't the issue. Having some dude walking around the parking lot and into the place in costume was a stupid oversight for sure. Really they are lucky some asshole with a real gun didn't shoot that poor worker. THAT would be a real story. "Man carrying gun to movies because he believes he can stop crazy people from doing crazy things kills minimum wage stage actor by mistake"
  17. Thanks Pops point well received. and thanks for the detailed response in the PM. Leave the housekeeping until last. Should be easy enough to remember its the same as in my regular life.
  18. "Paid" is in the eye of the beholder. I would wager many victims of violent crime don't feel the perpetrator "paid" by spending some time in jail. Also, therapy is bullshit. Jack stabbed a bunch of people and went to prison but then he talked about it with a "therapist" who explained that going around stabbing people was bad, and so now Jack knows better and won't be bad again. Lol? How about Jack wasn't quite as dumb as he looked and told the therapists what he needed to in order to get out of fuckin prison.
  19. Umm... I don't know why crimes against kids were excluded.... but I would include crimes against children to Quades list. Billions of people in the world I don't have a desire to hang out with violent people or people who hurt kids.
  20. Hey, the Dos Equis man is beyond reproach, take that back!
  21. s/n 18! I would think that would be a pretty tough resale, I saw a video of that thing flying too, looks intense. What kind of dickhead/jackass would steal that? Those are like invitation only canopies too right? Like stealing a one-off painting.
  22. Lol. The "jailbird" who got cited for contempt of court during her divorce 25 years ago. Zzzzzzzz. VS. "He saw his political career disintegrate in summer 2009, when he disappeared for five days, telling his staff he was hiking the Appalachian Trail. He returned to admit in a tearful news conference he had been in Argentina with his mistress -- a woman to whom he is now engaged. Sanford later paid a $70,000 ethics fine, the largest in state history, for using public money to fly for personal purposes. His wife and political ally, Jenny, divorced him. They have four sons." He doesn't have a mugshot because embezzlement of state funds apparently just gets you an ethics fine....and abandoning your family for a hot Argentinian isn't illegal. On second thought, now I see why you support him.
