I believe that's the same flash a camera flier at Frontier was using. It was mounted flat to the top of the helmet as if it were laying on a counter or desk... He ended up with some really good shots. IMO. I've got enough faith in Nikon equipment to think that even without the flash's built-in metering the camera is smart enough to turn out properly exposed shots. If you've already got the flash, cord and camera why not try out the set up with a roll before you jump it?

a guy at work lit a spiral bound paper notebook on fire with an NP1 style battery while it was in his pocket... people wouldn't let him live it down for a while.

Have you heard the Kermit & Big Bird Stoned MP3??? It had me ROFLMAO.... oh yeah, I picked Gonzo b/c he's always trying crazy stuff and flying around with his cape, but I would have picked kermit if the pig wasn't included. i could see him screaming, "whwwaaawhwhaahwhwwwaaaaaaaaa" and shaking his head in freefall. (with his webbed hands and feet he wouldn't need gloves.) Then under canopy he'd say something like, "now that wasn't so bad..." matt -
Guys: What kind of perfume do you like on your woman?

Angel is very good... I had a girlfriend that would wear something that had a hint of babypowder. That clean fresh smell is good too. -
IMHO. Don't do it for the reasons you are considering. I did something similar while in college. Let's just say I could have bought 2-3 loaded rigs for what I've paid and still have to pay. (I graduated 2+ years ago) Live within your means to the best of your ability, beyond that beg and plead with relatives for low/no interest loans. My dad helped my cousin when she asked. If that doesn't work try to take out another subsidized student loan. matt

I'm supposed to be impartial (at work), but I'd much rather see the reckage or aftermath on a satellite feed then have to chase them (terrorists) around my home town. Don't get me wrong I've met some really honest/patriotic muslims here that hate the thought that one of there own could be a terrorist, but I think I'd feel the same way if a roman catholic guy from my town was into that crap. (not wanting to be singled out) I don't want to see any more americans, or innocents (meaning not involved in or associated with terrorist activity) from any other country, die because someone wants to kill. matt

I spent a couple hours outside of the mosque at 40 Parker in Buffalo today. ("After investigating the Yemen bombing, the CIA determines that there are links to a terror cell in Buffalo, NY. " It was made public the other day, but the local FBI wouldn't confirm it last thursday.) In any event. I've heard local muslims say that they want to see people brought to justice with due process to determine their guilt, and not by "shooting first and asking questions later." matt

Cool lens for Sony Digital Video camera?
newshooter12 replied to meridianjumper's topic in Photography and Video
Star filters can be cool sometimes, but may make sensitive digicams' picutures tear. Vasiline can be a cheap, but messy thing to give a haze effect on part or all of the frame. matt... Check out http://www.bhphotovideo.com for other stuff. matt -
I've got Buffalo, NY, covered if anyone wants one from here. PM m.e. if you like. matt.

Now that you mention the VX-2000. I've been comparing the specs between it and the 950, but can't find any real difference other than it's shape/size. What do you guys think? Is there really a difference? performance wise that is... Matt

Finally a Frontier Skydiver posting... Carol's video works out great. I've been happy with the jumps she has shot for me. It's even made some time on the local news this summer. (To tell you the truth that camera and its operator work better than some of the guys I shoot with for a living.) If you see her tell her and Eddie (one of my AFF instructors) I said hi and that I'll see them in the spring. Matt Ersing

A guy I work with is building a sea kayak and is using marine epoxy & fiberglass (tape & fabric) from a marine supplier. It seems pretty straight forward and easy to get your hands on. matt

I've worked with Avid in a couple different forms. I can say that I walk away with a smile on my face most of the time. A friend that I do some side work with has an Avid Express DV 3.5 system put together by ProMax similar to THIS. We've been working on a monthly 30-min show for about 3 months now and it has been working out really well. There are a few quirks, but they can easily be worked with. DV.com had a review in last months' magazine that IMHO is pretty much right on target. You'll find it HERE. I've played around with Premiere on a couple different systems, but end up frustrated by it in the end. Avid seems more intuitive to me. I learned how to edit linear at a TV news station so speed and reliability are important to me. Just my $.02, but hope it helps. PM or e-mail me if you want to know more or have any questions. matt

AggieDave - I agree totally... It makes me think of the word NEW on nearly every product at the supermarket, whether they are new or not. matt

While I was shooting a series for my station on Beta SX. A video flyer for the story tapped me on my shoulder with a confused (But sarcastic) look and asked, "How much does that weigh?? And how am I going to mount it on my helmet???" I had a lot of fun and came back for a tandem not to much later. matt

There is a UV/skylight filter on all my still/video gear... As well as one on every field ENG camera (about 20 betacams) at work. I'd rather scratch/crack the filter then harm the lens elements. matt
