  1. If viewing my oppinion is bitching to you my dear boy, then I rest my case. You right, me wrong. Have the sandbox to yourself, and i will not be taking your toys either. Salutations! jraf Me Jungleman! Me have large Babalui. Muff #3275
  2. I don't intend to try and outdo you as to the amount of first responses I have been through. I have been first on scen several times, and quite honestly 1 or 10 or even a 100 does not matter. It is not nice. "BTW- As of recently, I don’t jump from airplanes anymore. Too many people with your attitude." I am happy for you that you don't jump out of planes anymore. Now since you do not, why don't you comment on your current sport of choice and leave us to our own devices. We small unworthy folk can take care of ourselves. jraf Me Jungleman! 3. Read my lips I don't propose a solution other than natural progression as I don't see a major problem. Please understand it and digest it. If you are really concerned about your safety, I strongly suggest that you don't jump out of planes. Unless you are a bird there is some risk involved. jraf Me Jungleman! Me have large Babalui. 4. Ron you are a canopy Nazi and I respect you and your oppinion. As you well know I have listened to your advice among others from the very beginning of my skydiving career and I have stayed safe. Note that in this thread I have mentioned ZHills as a safe place and it is safe for all us who started jumping there because of the availability of training and advice. It is safe because I have myself witnessed AFF instuctors requesting students not to continue their training, if the instructor had a bad feeling about it. I am opposing new regulation because I don't believe it is needed. How many low jump skydivers hurt themselves during a high performance landing at ZHills lately? I don't see that regulation as a contributor to safety. More training is obviously a great thing and I support it. Last to answer your doubt: This is not to take it out with the moderators - I do that in the talk back forum when I call them dopes. This is my take on the usefullnes of regulation. We differ here, it will not stop us from being friends, will it?
  5. Amy you must have REALY loved him. I can imagine doing a series of desperate things including shooting myself in the leg before I would live in Denmark - they are born retired. Their 5 year old children have the mentality of 75 year old people. They are all so reasonable and nice and helpful and clean and...the best part is that in the morning you greet them saying 'Moron'! jraf Me Jungleman! Me have large Babalui. Muff #3275
  6. Lets ask the basic question: Who will benefit from the new regulation? Skydivers? Absolutely not. Those who want to take greater risks than others will keep on taking them no matter what. Those who stand to reap the financial benefits of a potential regulation like this are those who signed the letter, God bless their little hearts. That is why they included so many exceptions and grandfather clauses in their proposal. They want a regulation that is different for "us" and different for "them" They want more compulsory courses so that they can taech them and get the dough. As with all other regulation prposed by interest groups, this is for money $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$. jraf Me Jungleman! Me have large Babalui. Muff #3275
  7. I would not give a broken dime for mine. I am true scum of this world....hahahahahahahahaha!!! jraf Me Jungleman! Me have large Babalui. Muff #3275
  8. Look at that. Funny so much time has passed, children were conceived and born, wars were fought, dictatorships fell, new plagues surfaced, the terrorist threat alert system has gone through the entire rainbow spectrum several times and we still are together. What would I do for true love? Just what I did - stayed true to mine
  9. Bill: There has been some serious misunderstanding. You and I obviously went through or are talking of completely different AFF training requirements. In my AFF course I was tought not only basic skydiving skills, but more importantly canopy control was POUNDED into my head. I was told about landing acuracy I was told about the effect of winds on landing I was told about the effect of low toggle turns and how to avoid them. I was told many other things about canopy controll. With every AFF level the amount of information passed on to me increased. I went through the prescribed coach jumps and they included comments on canopy control. When I got my A license I was ready to safely jump on my own. I have received great training and strong warning as to what is going to get me in trouble. That is the way it is done at ZHills. Its my home DZ. I must admitt it probably is the top Ivy League school of skydiving. OK so I was lucky to have graduated there and they performed an excellent job, which is to say they took the course requirements seriously. As mentioned, you probably are talking of a different AFF program than I. Maybe the West Coast AFF is different than what we have in Florida. In case it is not, I suppose someone is not doing their job well. That would not be a problem of new regulation, but of enforcing the existing. jraf Me Jungleman! Me have large Babalui. Muff #3275
  10. Scott, regulation is not a solution. Most of us are able to make their own choices in life and don't need a drill sargeant to guide them through the day. It's all about choices. Some choose to take bigger risks than other. Let the people have their choice. I oppose regulating this sport. If you think that is bitching, so be it. I still voice my opposition. Regulation is good in institutions. jraf Me Jungleman! Me have large Babalui. Muff #3275
  11. Yes, I don't give a solution as it already exists and is readily available. Look, listen and learn. There are many people who think that jumping out of a plane makes them special. Really, you and I know it's no big deal. Surviving is the deal. You can not regulate the self preservation instinct. Those who have it will look, listen and learn till they know what they can safely do. Those without a self preservation instinct will probably sustain injury or death. To give a pretty good example: Drunk driving is very illegal. The fact that operating motor under influence of alcohol is regulated does not stop people from getting killed while doing it. That is how much that regulation is worth. jraf Me Jungleman! Me have large Babalui. Muff #3275
  12. Education will NOT come through regulation. Your proposal is unrealistic, but tempts the eternal regulators to create another legal monstrosity. Once again let me bring the example of the 140 lbs. skydiver who hooked and swooped the entire ZHills pond under a 240 foot canopy. I agree that people should pursue education to further their skills and knowledge of skydiving. I very strongly oppose cries for regulation People in this sport need no more imposed rules. AFF currently gives you enough skills to survive and thrive if you are a little more than half witted. Learning is a natural progression. Some do it faster, some do it slower. Let it be natural and above all, don't ask for double standards. In your letter you did. I disagree! jraf Me Jungleman! Me have large Babalui. Muff #3275
  13. Agreed, agreed and once again agreed. Regulation of skydiving is no different than regulation of meat prices in the '70s or regulation of rent levels in New York City. It leads to chaos and defiance. There are plenty of high quality canopy control schools (as metioned by one of our interlocutors) and people who want, will lern. The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania just deregulated helmet laws for motorcyclists. Florida has the same. Why regulate skydiving even more? jraf Me Jungleman! Me have large Babalui. Muff #3275
  14. First of all, please read the entire thread and notice that I call for no more regulation than we have now. Enough is enough. In adition, my dear little regulatory enthusiast the avatar picture you have is against regulation itself - a Pitt Special is not alowed to let skydivers out in inverted flight closer than 5 miles from a functioning arfield. Having said that I have to ask what your point is. Aside from telling me that I am without clue, you have not made any yet. Pray, speak up if you have anything of merit to say. jraf Me Jungleman! 15. What can you afford? That is the main question. jraf Me Jungleman! Me have large Babalui. Muff #3275
  16. Then why does your profile state, under Disciplines of Choice: Para-ski, SWOOPING?? I dont think you are doing yourself much justice on this thread! Yes indeed. You have not noticed the rest of my profile though - as my interests I stated inter-gallactic travel as well as yarn spinning and of course babalui! jraf Me Jungleman! Me have large Babalui. 17. You on the other hand are a scholar and a gentleman. I also appreciate your oppinion on the topic, which you have so elaborately vocalized. Salutations! jraf Me Jungleman! Me have large Babalui. Muff #3275
  18. Oh, dear you have not noticed my name there? Well that is probably because I am not on it. I have no intentions of being there. Jumping is a joy and pleasure to me, not a competition. I do this for fun and I don't want my fun to be regulated. Please notice that I have said I don't hook or swoop. That is my personal choice. Let others make their's on their own. jraf Me Jungleman! Me have large Babalui. Muff #3275
  19. I am against new regulation that will not make much sense. I oppose double standards proposed by the authors of the letter. As to the minimum pull altitude? It probably makes sense and is purely theoretical anyway. jraf Me Jungleman! Me have large Babalui. Muff #3275
  20. Bill the letter is not long - it's long winded. You want a regulation with plenty of exceptions for "friends and family". Worst of all you want regulation!!! As I have mentioned before, if you are so concerned about safety, lets impose: 1. a minimum 8 hours between last drink and jump - and put an enforcer with a brethalizer at the plane door. 2. regulate the helmets that we are/are not? to wear. As you well know they officialy give NO protection 3. regulate the footwear worn by skydivers. Tevas, barefoot and other related footware is obviously dangerous I could go on for hours. One of the things that attracted me to this sport is the relative freedom. Its the fact that I can be with fellow adventurers, people who explore and sometimes push themselves to the limit. If you want to regulate, please join the North Korean Parachute Association - I'm sure they have a regulation for every occasion jraf Me Jungleman! Me have large Babalui. Muff #3275
  21. I have nothing to fear because I doubt it will ever be imposed. I definitely will talk to Richard Schachner to point to him the lack of clarity of the said writing and to the lack of logic it represents. I oppose regulation in general. Next thing we will have fine wisethinkers proposing regulations as to who can jump with whom. As to the waivers, that is sensless itself. As of now an S&TA may prohibit someone from jumping at a dropzone and may not let them jump a certain size canopy. That power is at the discretion of the S&TA now. Why waste time, money and effort on imposing new legal documents that people will find a way to go around. Waste, waste and once again waste, I call!!! There are no such regulations for skiing and that is far more dangerous than skydiving as far as I am concerned. If we decide to regulate, then lets better start imposing a beer curfew at the DZs so that hung over skydivers don't hurt themselves. Ridiculous idea, is it not? jraf Me Jungleman! 22. I just read a lengthy piece of epistolar work signed by some of our truly on this site. Having gone through both the works of William Sheakspeare and my college accounting book I must admit I did not quite understand the intention of the authors. The letter is full double indemnities, clauses pointing to grandparents and suggestions for exceptions to be made for the in-crowd. Dear friends, before committing so much intellectual capacity to written word please think what message you are trying to convey. Lots of words don't necessarily bring lots of content. Regulation is good in social states not in organizations governing sports. Natural selection is the best licensing authority. I for one do not attempt high performance landings. Just not enough experience. jraf Me Jungleman! Me have large Babalui. Muff #3275
  23. Haha, brothers and sisters (as well all you who are of uncommitted gender): I have had my firs thread locked. The Red/Green (read: Communist/Al Kaida) conspiracy has felt the bite of my inquisitive mind. I was accused of posting childish treads, so lets ask a serious questions: 1. Why is Chopin's Revolutionary Etiude also called "Cannons peeking through flowers"? 2. Did Einstein realize that his research on nuclear physics would lead to the creation of a weapon that might well one day destroy humanity? 3. Why is it that when you mix blue and yellow paint the effect is green? jraf Me Jungleman! Me have large Babalui. Muff #3275

  25. Hell is the place to be. Why would one want to go to heaven - all fine upstanding people and virgin spinsters will go there. At least in hell I will be joined by all assholes - from all centuries and WE'LL PARTY like it's our Birthday!!! jraf Me Jungleman! Me have large Babalui. Muff #3275
