How often you have your main canopy inspected?
ChileRelleno replied to marinho's topic in Gear and Rigging
I have my rigger inspect my main about every other re-pack. I inspect my main after a hard opening, and whenever I have nothing better to do. I probably inspect it myself aprox every other month or so, I hang it and go over it in detail, anything that catches my eye get shown to a rigger. What's your ave/max speed in a sit?
ChileRelleno replied to ECVZZ's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I'm 5.10 and 252lbs out'da plane, my relaxed sit-fly avg's 140-160mph. This has been taken from my helmet mounted (interior) Pro-track using SAS (skydiver airspeed). I can do 180+mph without trying. Have you heard of the "Anvil Brothers", your a Bro and probably don't know it yet? ChileRelleno-Rodriguez Bro#414 Hellfish#511,MuffBro#3532,AnvilBro#9, D24868 -

Well..... Being as when I come home from work I've been on the road for a month and a half (I'm a long haul trucker), first I throw the truck keys as far as I can and then I corner my wife in the bathroom (where 6yr old eyes can't see) and ....................... Strange how I always find those dagblasted keys. ChileRelleno-Rodriguez Bro#414 Hellfish#511,MuffBro#3532,AnvilBro#9, D24868

Goldcoast skydivers under attack... Update.

There were a couple of reporters from (I believe to be ) local newspapers. They talked to Mike & Leanne, some of the DZ staff and skydivers. They seemed to take a liking to Ben C.,a instructor,Master rigger and our S&TA, who as a Senior Chief with the USCG was in uniform (these were female reporters, we know how the ladies love men in uniform)... But I digress... The press was there and we were talking, and they were listening. ChileRelleno-Rodriguez Bro#414 Hellfish#511,MuffBro#3532,AnvilBro#9, D24868

Goldcoast skydivers under attack... Update.
ChileRelleno replied to ChileRelleno's topic in The Bonfire
So why are there two threads? (1) figured I'd post a update separately becuase some folks might not be "watching" the original post, so like a newspaper covering a ongoing story... (2)By starting a "Update" thread I hoped to attract more attention to our DZ's plight. (3)Perhaps its just the Postwhore in me. If I'm still at home and receive more news about this you'll probably see another update... I don't see a problem with this do you? Greenies (moderators)? Goldcoast skydivers under attack... Update.

Better known as the Airport Board at Trent Lott International Airport, the home of Goldcoast Skydivers. See my post "Goldcoast Skydivers under attack." http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=1474641#1474641 ChileRelleno-Rodriguez Bro#414 Hellfish#511,MuffBro#3532,AnvilBro#9, D24868 -
Goldcoast skydivers under attack... Update.
ChileRelleno replied to ChileRelleno's topic in The Bonfire
Update: This mornings court appearance was for Mikes TRO (Temporary Restraining Order). The attorney representing the JCAA (Jackson County Airport Authority) was able to have it dismissed due to the affidavit not being sworn, the affidavit was not sworn in front of the judge or notarized before being served to the JCAA. The judge said that her hands were tied, that this type of order must follow strict rules and that she had no choice but to dismiss as requested. Mike forfeited the $3,000.00 bond he had posted and out of that bond the judge awarded the JCAA's attorney his fees and the court fees. The judge said that as Mike was representing himself she was forced to hold him to all the rules and guidelines that any regular attorney must adhere to and could not offer any leniency due to Mikes ignorance of said rules/guidelines. Mike tried to challenge the JCAA's attorney to just go ahead with the proceedings, saying that the reason they wouldn't play ball was because they knew they don't have case. The JCAA's counsel was confident from the start that they had Mike on this, they were all smiles form the git-go, they thought they had him on another technicality, the bond, but proof of bond was produced, so the next technicality was the lack of the "Sworn" affidavit, there was a affidavit, it was served, it just was not sworn. Mike and the JCAA already have a previously pending case (separate case/file, involving the eviction I guess) in another court on the docket for later this month, that still has to go forward as scheduled. Mike is swearing to either file another TRO or some type of injunction against the JCAA. He also says that it the DZ will be open for business this weekend as usual, he says that he will chain himself to the building before they shut him down, that he will continue this fight to the bitter end or sweet victory! Mike says this was the first time he was the Plaintiff, not the Defendant and was not prepared. He said he would be prepared next time. This is my summary, Mike has represented himself before as a defendant, it is easier to represent oneself as a defendant, answer the questions, show your evidence/proof and so on. Mike should have retained a lawyer, Mike should retain a lawyer ASAP! It has been said before that only a fool represents himself, that it takes a lawyer to fight a lawyer.... In my opinion Mike needs a lawyer to win this one.... ChileRelleno-Rodriguez Bro#414 Hellfish#511,MuffBro#3532,AnvilBro#9, D24868 -

Thank you for those links, that put alot of insight into gray areas I had. I knew that there were plans for future exspansion, but this is immediate exspansion, with big goals in mind. They (Airport Officials and ect...) will be playing for keeps. I heard about a rather large corparation with plans for possible production/testing at Trent lott, something about Northrup Grumann and military drones, but thats hearsay. How'bout "Chile" the roaming trucker/skydiver who has jumped in 40states/80DZ's and always has a tale to tell abou the last DZ he was at... Or perhaps you could call him the "Jump'n Bean" since he goes from DZ to DZ like most truckers go to truckstops? ChileRelleno-Rodriguez Bro#414 Hellfish#511,MuffBro#3532,AnvilBro#9, D24868 -
Yesterday I received this E-Mail, This is my home DZ and I'm going to try and show up and support my DZ. This is not the first time the Airport Board has tried to evict Goldcoast / Mike and supposedly (hearsay) is nitpicking the lease to pieces. Once again skydiving in general is under attack, if successful other airports could be encouraged to try similar tactics to evict DZ's. This just Bites! What aircraft do you wish you could jump from?
ChileRelleno replied to AggieDave's topic in The Bonfire
In particular, Jet (any jet) (I would (though some call me crazy) like to actually eject from a military aircraft.) Hot Air Balloon Airship (blimp/dirigible- non-rigid, semi-rigid or rigid... Don't care.) Not so particular, Anything I haven't already jumped from. ChileRelleno-Rodriguez Bro#414 Hellfish#511,MuffBro#3532,AnvilBro#9, D24868 -
Roll call: Gold Coast $10 jumps Feb 3rd.-6th.
ChileRelleno replied to dropzonefool's topic in Events & Places to Jump
I know that alot of folks that normally attend the Mardi Gras Boogie are instead going to the "Marco Island (beach) Boogie" and some will be heading out to the "Boogie in a Box-- Mardi Gras Style". As far as I know, Mike Igo - DZO of Goldcoast Skydivers supposedly wasn't doing any advertising other than word of mouth and whatever happened to get around on the net, so other than regulars and regional jumpers this will probably stay lowkey... Which is fine by me, $10. jumps without (hopefully) long manifest times will be golden! This is the boogie thats not a boogie... No registration, no goody bags, no free food, beer or entertainment.... No high overhead cost putting it together for Mike. Just $10. jumps from a Otter and spiffin King Air -

In my travels I've seen numerous instances where a student or a very low-time jumper was put out in IMO unsafe, adverse or questionable enviroments. I have everytime voiced my concerns to DZ staff and sometimes the student/lowtimers themselves. Some of these students/lowtimers were told told the weather/winds (for example) were marginal or whatever and elected to go ahead. I've yet to have been sooooo concerned as to "drop a dime" to USPA or the FAA. 40 states -n- 80 DZ's. ChileRelleno-Rodriguez Bro#414 Hellfish#511,MuffBro#3532,AnvilBro#9, D24868
